Visiting renowned American Gospel Artist Don Moen has advised Zambian gospel artists not to imitate other famous Christian artists if they are to succeed in their musical gospel career.

Mr. Moen said Zambia has a lot of talent especially among the upcoming gospel artists.

He stressed that the upcoming gospel artists should aim for originality in their music carrier and not imitation.

Mr. Moen noted that when musicians attach authenticity to their talent, the Holy Spirit will open new doors in their career.

He explained that authenticity will greatly assist Zambian gospel artists to market the country’s culture.

Mr. Moen has since implored the struggling gospel artists not to give up but to continue believing in God and working hard.

He has also committed himself to helping young upcoming Zambian gospel artists.

And Mr. Moen has praised Bread of Life International Church for constructing the blessing centre.

Speaking to Journalists after the conducted tour of the facility, Mr. Moen said he was inspired with the facility.

He said the construction of the Blessing centre was a clear testimony that nothing is impossible if people work together.

Mr. Moen is tomorrow expected to feature as a Guest Artists during the unleashing kingdom concert at the Blessing centre.

And Mount Zion Christian Centre Senior Pastor Bruce Msidi said all was set for tomorrow’s concert.

    • I feel sorry for those Americans to be mobbed by that swam of Zambian paparazzi. Lucky of employment and news. How can someone breath in such a room? And what are those pictures for, Facebook and L.Times?

    • Imwe Ba Nostradamus nitucawa twanu ce. The white man isn’t complaining but because of your Muzungu wangaism you want to complaIn for him.

    • @Wanganizer: When the master’s house catches fire the house nigger shouts “Our house is on fire” When the master is sick he says “Whats wrong master? We are sick?” Courtesy of Malcom X.
So I guess in this instance it is “We have no air. We cant breath in this room”

  1. I have noted with amusement how so-called gospel singers have now embraced hitherto “evil” rhythms such as rock, pop, blues and infused religious lyrics into them!! That is what apparently, they call “Gospel music”. All the beautiful chorals, or the traditionally backed songs are being discarded. Even the fools who would play vinyls backwards to tell us the devil is singing are now using what they condemned to fill up their churches. Moen is right – BE ORIGINAL! Get back to where you were!!!

  2. It is very difficult for Zambian gospel artists to be original because most of them are motivated by a desire to make quick money and fame. That is why some of them can even take live performances to night clubs full of revellers who are too drunk to appreciate the message in their songs.

    • Silent One, you are right. In fact, most of the so-called new churches have taken the very music they were condemning as being of the devil and are using it to fill up their churches. There are a lot of rhythms in those churches that reminds you of a Lionel Richie, or a Jimi Hendrix, or even an Amy Winehouse, I daresay. All hypocrisy all over the world, and Zambia leads the charge.

  3. Enjoyed his music at Woodlands Stadium, looking forward to the concert at Blessing Center!!!!!!!!! God Richly Bless You Don Moen.

  4. The advice is timely. If you want to be original, you have to spend time with the lord.Develop intimate relationship with the lord .Spend time in the word and not on face book.If you watch One gospel on DSTV all you see is the entertainment spirit. We sing reggae music believing in our hearts we are praising God,thats Idol worship type of music.
We have copied the ways of the world and brought them into the church. The bible says though we are in the world,we are not of this world. We need to come out of this world. If you feel called in music ministry, the starting point is not Kirk Franklin,Keke or Darlene Szchech BUT GOD.Be blessed!

  6. That advice applies to all musicians in Zambia, secular or gospel. Parroting other succesful Western musicians takes you nowhere. These Western stars have millions of imitators right in their homeland who cant make it anywhere so what makes an African think his imitation will be noticed? “Be original” is what we have been saying but it seems to fall on deaf ears. BE AUTHENTIC dont be plastic. Maiko Zulu do you give your members this kind of counselling?

    • I think not being original comes from very far. We have parents who are not original so we just follow their footsteps. If your father can’t even give you an African name except copycat names like Michael, John, Sam, Derrick, Mary, Christine that’s the beginning of being a copycat. You will want to imitate the owners of your name so how will you be original in your future endeavours?
