President Michael Sata has appointed Charles Banda as Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi and conferred Lusaka prominent lawyer, John Sangwa, with the status of State Counsel.

President Sata has since implored the duo to exhibit exemplary behavior in their discharge of national duties.

He said this at State House today shortly after swearing in the duo.

President Sata further advised the duo to desist from bad behaviour while holding important offices.

The head of state reminded Mr. Banda to represent Zambia well in Malawi.

And Mr. Sata urged Mr. Sangwa to exhibit good behaviour as he serves as a State Council.
Meanwhile President Sata today handed over bus keys to beneficiaries of Higer bus loans.

Over 1,000 buses have been procured from Higer Bus Company with the assistance from the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ).

The beneficiaries will be required to repay the loan over a period of five years to DBZ who are the financers of the bus loans.

President Sata said the buses will help improve the transportation system in the country.

He has since appealed to beneficiaries not to default but to repay the loans.

Meanwhile, Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Deputy Minister Colonel Panji Kaunda explained that government was not involved in the procurement of the buses.

Col. Kaunda told journalists that his ministry only facilitated the loan through DBZ to enable the Public and Private Drivers Association of Zambia (PPDAZ) purchase the buses.

He said the onus was on PPDAZ to identify drivers who were legible to get the buses on loan.

And PPDAZ president Josiah Majuru praised government for facilitating the loans noting that the development has created employment for drivers.

He said the buses will help end casualization in the transport sector as drivers will be empowered.

Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Stella Nghuvu, expressed optimism of repaying the loan within the stipulated time.

  1. So its true there was another of those everyday swearing in ceremonies..hahahahakekekekekikiki

Mr president you have an A+ in swearing in!!! from me

  2. Honestly how can DBZ involve itself in bussiness like buses, it buffles me. Africans and planning are at longer heads. Morgages are better as they will leave a lasting impression and make housing available and cheaper. Disband DBZ its good for nothing

    • @VMC You sound so illitarate or you just dont know the purpose of the Banks and how they operate. Bwana banks give all kinds of loans, including vehicle loans, or financing the purchase of vehicles to people and organisations seeking such service from the bank. eg in most developed countries people buy cars from dealerships through the banks and payable back to bank after a period of time. So nothing wrong here by DBZ to do this kind of business with PPDAZ

    • @ MwipontaMukabwela is DBZ a commercial bank? Be analytical and think of long term prospects for the country

  3. congrats Mr banda, I would like some body to find out what has been happening at the Zambian High commission .The ministry is aware of the scandals beeing caused by an officer who claims that H e cannot be touched by anybody.

  4. Just get the buses and don’t bother paying back to DBZ . There’s always a Malawian judge who will fix any Zambia judge who will dare to make you pay back. Besides State House has your back. On another note: it seems the only business Zambians like is transportation! Problem is these buses will be wrecked before the loans are paid back! Please Mr Sata you’re cheaping that office with this sort of nonsense!

    • @ Sepo, what do you use for thinking, the opening on your backside..? You should try using you brain to think-it will really help you reason normally!

  5. Its hard to trust these guys any longer around money issues. They completely failed to tell us the truth that government coffers have been depleted hence the urgency in removing subsidies otherwise it would hv been gradual.

About the bus loans, why not let people make their own business plans then they apply? The impression i get here is that only those with specialty in transport business will benefit. The likes of GBM etc. Honestly even very simple decisions such as these should really be hard guys?? employ business diversification, promote those businesses which are dying in Zambia such as manufacturing. Help Zambians to research and to be innovative.

  6. I thought ZWD were lying about the swearing in! Indeed these guys and dames have an ear to the ground. So what has happened to the Commissioner in Malawi? Has he been recalled or there was no one? No policy direction only swearing in ceremonies, what a president?

  7. I always put everything that goes on in Zambia under a microscope for careful examination. The fact that Sata has confered John Sangwa as state council confirms for me that Sata was very close to that little thief called Chiluba. Sangwa was always the lawyer of choice to do the biddings of the pigmy from the rain forest of Ituri.
Also, the acting chief justice is a purpet of Sata. There was a picture of Sata and this lady sharing a light moment at the cathedral of the Holy Cross this week. Also in that Picture was Chipimo Jr. If you open your eyes you can see what the crooks are doing behind closed doors in Zed. I like when ZWD calls sata, the great dictator!!!
