Katumbi: Zambian players are a let down

Share

TP Mazembe boss Moses Katumbi has described his Zambian players commitment to the club as disappointing.

Katumbi told visiting Zambian journalist in Lubumbashi that he was especially disappointed with midfielder Rainford Kalaba.

“You can see the performance of the Zambian players. The biggest problem is they are not serious as they were before,” Katumbi said in an interview  monitored on ZNBC TV.

“So at least the coach doesn’t have to say Mazembe doesn’t give them game.”

Katumbi singled out Nathan Sinkala and Francis Kasonde as Zambia’s most outstanding players at Mazembe.

“Only Sinkala is a very serious boy and Kasonde they are almost every day at training,” Katumbi said.

“The others I don’t know. Even Kalaba, I talked to him to say Kalaba you are losing your performance.

“Than to stay here because he is injured, he has gone to Zambia.”

  1. Ubwalwa namahule abaiche aba mwalunda nokukula umutwe nowanda tapali okobaya.Ama pwete pwete yeka yeka.I`m very disappointed.

    • Ati nowanda.. But Mo Taim naimwe, I think you were drunk na weekend iyi. About ama hule, I thought there more exciting ones in Lubumbashi than Lusaka?

  2. maybe its the other way round here.
katumbi is using our players for his own selfish end.
look at sunzu… he looks very lost now.
if this man has a heart as he claims, he would have done a fatherly gesture on sunzu and let bygones be bygones by helping the young boy rediscover his self, otherwise am sure he jusst want to have a last laugh on him.

  3. Somebody helps you identify where the problem with players lie and you just brush that aside citing selfishness on the source of information! I believe u ve also noticed a slump in performance on the mentioned players. Let’s help these players by calling for increased discipline and dedication. Let’s emulate Katumbi’s no-nonsense stance.

  4. The boys are finding out that they have sold their souls to the devil in form of revolving contracts.Kalaba wanted to go to South Africa but he found himself in the same problems Sunzu is going through.I can predict deliberate lousy performance until the players get what they want. This problem has spilt over to the national team too.

  5. what you guys are saying are all part of the problem, a conglomeration of issues: ranging from poor contractual conditions, lack of full sense of professionalism on the part of players, but also selfishness and lack of sensitivity to players’ need for career advancement on the part of club sponsors, like Mr. Katumbi. This is why the soccer mother body must step in and make sure players pursuing professional football abroad get a real deal. FAZ guidance is vital for players’ professional development in a young, fragile soccer economy like Zambia’s.

  6. The all scenario is just saddening, those boys don’t have poerful agents who can rescue them from that Katumbi mafionso cartel. So an injury is best excuse, hoping to escape from those ba Kasai.

  7. ZAMBIAN PLAYERS HAVE BECOME BIG HEADED AFTER WINNING THE AFCON 2012, VERY USELESS. THEY SHOULD GET SERIOUS.

  8. I have seen the Sports medicine Hospital Katumbi built for TP Mazembe which even the local community benefits from.

Katumbi has invested a lot and takes care of his team. he has even built a stadium. These Players NO wonder Zambia is NOT performing well.

We are doomed with WorldCup 2014 Brazil qualification with this attitude from OUR Players.

  9. relatives talk to each other that way. good Katumbi put sense in them, dont give up they are your boys, after all when last time you spoke to them ‘good’ they made you proude. simple kenche
