Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, says the Patriotic Front (PF) government has started doing what other previous governments failed to accomplish.

And Mr Munkombwe has assured senior Chief Monze that the controversial Monze-Neiko road will soon be tarred by Government

Addressing village headmen at chief Monze’s palace in Monze district, Mr Munkombwe said the reconstruction of the Bottom road, which has been a cry of the people of the province since independence, has now become a reality under the Patriotic Front Government.

He told the meeting, which was also attended by senior chief Monze, that within few years of assuming office, the government of President Michael Sata has managed to honour its promise to work on the much-talked about Bottom road.

Mr Munkombwe said works on the roads have advanced and are impressive and that the contractor engaged by government is ahead of schedule.

He said government now wants to upgrade the Bottom road to bituminous standard to ensure the linkage of the valley districts of Siavonga, Gwembe, Sinazongwe and Kazungula is not only effective but becomes all-weather. The road runs parallel to Lake Kariba in the hilly terrain.

The minister said the people of the Gwembe valley will now have a sigh of relief after suffering for many years due to the bad state of the Bottom road which made the delivery of goods and social services impossible.

He said during his tour of Siavonga district last week, he was able to personally drive on the newly reconstructed Bottom road from Siavonga all the way to Chief Sinadambwe’s palace, a journey that was previously impossible.

Mr Munkombwe said chief Sindababamwe’s area’s was among areas most difficult to access and impossible to reach during the rainy season due to bad roads and damaged bridges along the Bottom road.
He challenged detractors of the PF government to visit Siavonga and see for themselves the current works on the new Bottom road.

And Mr Munkombwe has assured chief Monze that a contract for the tarrying of the Monze-Neiko road has already been signed.

He said President Sata has directed that the road be tarred and that a contractor would soon be on site to begin works.

  1. I saw Munkombwe walking on telly, I thought he was going to drop; is he really that old? I mean too old and super unwise, what kind of life is that?

  2. Shameless old Grandfather. “Nokolume walepalepa fye te shimilandu”. e filya batila, “ulya tata aseba ipala lya bupuba”

  3. jurasic park at it again. His children must be full of shame to have such a father who has lost respect in the eyes of the youth. This old man will surely punch you if you told him that the youth are the future of this country.

  4. “PF has done what other governments failed – Munkombwe” Exactly dodo! Other governments failed to FAIL right from the word go!

  5. Daniel Munkombwe and KK appear to be the only people who are seeing what the majority of Zambians are not seeing in this PF government. It is not difficult to understand. Both are old, demented parasites who cannot survive without tax payers money. One is a minister when he is supposed to be at a farm enjoying his retirement while the other one is busy globe-trotting doing nothing but just wasting tax payers’ money. But for how long are these two wasted souls going to be a burden on tax payers?

    • Agism is just as bad as tribalism and racism! The man has challenged you to go and see what is being done so grow a pair, put your money were your mouth is and go and witness for yourself. You agist!

  6. i think its high time some leaders should stop takin pipo for granted, zambian are not foolz to be cheated by this leaders ,we want progress in our country not ,pipo who cant deriver.how can you insult a finger which once feed you.pipo are watching and they are suffering, after all the dontch kubeba and poor derivalance you hav shown, you wanted ninety dayz we gave you and you failed,we gave you extra you start cheating.africans leaders lets develop our country.its in mess

  7. Very true!! they have wrecked the economy where others failed. You will be judged as a one term party unless of course you are planning to cheat the Zambian people of their votes.

  8. Munkombwe plz if u do’t have what to say be quite and just do what u come to do in government (eating copy)

  9. “PF has done what other governments failed – Munkombwe” Yes your has managed to take this country back to unip days and has also managed to remove subsides.

  10. I WISH TO ADVISE THOSE WHO ARE CONDEMNING PF IN GOVERNMENT, NOTE THAT MMD FOUND GOOD ROADS LEFT BY KK & DESTROYED THEM, COMPANIES CLOSED, ZAMTEL SOLD, MAIZE DEPOTS DESTROYED, ZAMBIA RAILWAYS ABONDONED. IT IS NOT EASY TO RECONSTRUCT THIS COUNTRY AS SOME PEOPLE THINK THEIR FRIENDS ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING. LET US BE FAIR TO THIS GOVERNMENT. THEY MAY DELIVER IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS. GIVE THEM TIME TO REBUILD. MMD WAS GIVEN TWENTY YEARS OF DESTRUCTION. PEOPLE CANT EAT POLITICS NEITHER CAN THEY BE GIVEN FREE FOOD. THE BIBLE CONDEMNS LAZINESS. HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO TALK WITHOUT RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE IN POWER? WHAT ZAMBIA NEEDS TODAY IS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT TO PROVIDE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR BUSINESS AND EDUCATION FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN. WE SHALL BE UPSET IF THEY FAIL.

    • HOW OLD ARE YOU SIR/MADAM? THE ECONOMY HAD COLLAPSED UNDER UNIP. THE COMPANIES YOU REFER TO WENT UNDER. THEY WERE NOT VIABLE. SIMPLE EXAMPLE IS THE CURRENT SHOPRITE SHOP ON CAIRO ROAD. IT USED TO BE RUN BY A COMPANY CALLED NIEC STORES AND WAS CALLED “MWAISENI”. THAT SHOP COLLAPSED. THE SHELVES WERE EMPTY. THE SAME HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER STATE OWNED COMPANIES. THE ROADS YOU REFER TO WERE FULL OF POT HOLES. MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE BUT DONT COMPARE WITH UNIP DAYS.

  11. I WISH TO APPEAL TO THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA THAT ROME WAS NOT BUILD IN A DAY. LET US BE PATIENT. PASTORS SHOULD NOT ENCOURAGE PROTESTERS AS PROTESTS SOMETIMES BREEDS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY AND CHAOS. MEN OF GOD SHOULD REMAIN IN THE PUPIT TO ADVISE THE GOVERNMENT.

    • YES ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY, NEITHER WAS IT DESTROYED IN 90 DAYS. PF WHERE FREE TO DO AS THEY WISHED SO WHY IS IT DIFFERENT NOW THAT YOU ARE IN GOVERNMENT? ZAMBIA IS A FREE COUNTRY AND CITIZENS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES WITHOUT FEAR.

  12. Munkombwe, people like you are this county’s worst enemies. Like you said you are only in this politics to eat. We need this country to move beyond these old amen from the ‘freedom fighting’ days. The post independence generation needs to fight for freedom from our these grand old men.
