The opposition has not teamed against Sata and PF

The opposition in the country has denied allegations levelled against them that they have ‘teamed up’ to fight President Michael Sata and the Patriotic Front (PF) Government.

Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) President, Edwin Sakala, says assertions by Justice Minister and PF Secretary General, Winter Kabimba, that criminals have ganged up against President Sata are not true.
Mr Sakala categorically says no one is tarnishing the political image of either President Sata or the PF leadership.

Mr Sakala said this in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

He said the opposition were merely haunted by the PF government’s own alleged 2011 campaign promises to the Zambian people.

He reiterated that ZDDM stands ready to work with Government in matters of governance of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has supported the opposition political parties’ filing in of an updated supplementary petition to seek the suspension of Zambia from the Commonwealth due to alleged continued non respect of human rights under the Patriotic Front (PF) government.

YALI president Andrew Ntewewe notes that much his organization has not been in support of Zambia’s suspension from the Commonwealth, his organization has now come to a conclusion that people’s fundamental rights have become more at stake under the PF government.

Mr. Ntewewe notes that the incident that happened at Lusaka’s Matero BIGOCA church where worshipers were attacked by suspected PF thugs is an indication that Zambia is on a knife age in respect of sustaining fundamental rights and that if such a situation continues, Zambia risks falling in genocide as was experienced in Rwanda.

Mr. Ntewewe has affirmed that Zambia needs international intervention if people’s fundamental rights are to be sustained under the PF government.
The YALI president was speaking in an interview with Qfm.

And Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba will visit Zambia from 10 to 13 June 2013.

Mrs Masire-Mwamba will take part in activities of the Commonwealth Youth Centre in Lusaka – one of the Commonwealth’s four regional youth centres around the world – where she will engage with beneficiaries of the organisation’s training programmes for young people.

The Deputy Secretary-General will also meet senior government officials and other stakeholders. Her visit is the first by a senior Commonwealth official to the country since a small team from the Commonwealth Secretariat visited Zambia on a fact-finding mission in March this year.

Speaking in London ahead of the Deputy Secretary-General’s visit, Mr Richard Uku, Director of Communications and Public Affairs and Commonwealth Spokesperson said Mrs Masire-Mwamba hopes to hold consultations with various interlocutors while in Zambia.

“We look forward to continued partnership with Zambia in advancing the Commonwealth’s fundamental values, including democracy and good governance, sustainable development and respect for diversity,” Mr Uku said.

  1. “Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) President, Edwin Sakala”-I didn`t know that we have a party like this.Looks like a type of party where the only members are his family members.

    • Well he might be a one member party but what he is saying is true and you need to challenge him on that, you paid up state House Shushu with a Tax payers Laptop

    • @obsever
tell us!! tell us the sikiriti,,, is he state house shushu paid up with tax payers“ laptop????

    • But Masala ulasekesha.
You know what happened in last Presidential erections, Edwin got 11 votes, he petitioned to High-court that it can’t be true because he has 9 siblings who are all married = 18 votes (couple), plus 20-something cousins, ex-classmates etc. Sata & PF rigged erections!!!

    • Sata’s arrogance am sure, tells him the Zambian people “fipuba” will not react to his behavior, but he will be surprised when he is kicked out of office and as we speak, he is very surprised the resistance he is receiving.

    • Can somebody please explain the arithmetic on the FUEL Zambia contacted Trafigura costing US$500m.Under this contract, the company is required to supply 216,920,000 litres petrol and 21,230,000 litres diesel costing an average of US$2.10 or Kr11.13 per litre. The price of petrol after the removal of subsidies is Kr9.91 which leaves a balance of Kr1.22 per litre that translates to a total of Kr290,540.00 ( K291m ) which the PF Government must source from some where.
The question we need answers to is, if fuel was to be sold at Kr11.13 which is the bare cost price without adding any handling and administrative costs and not talking about profit. How is this Government balancing the books as regards this tender to TAFIGURA when the fuel is pegged at Kr9.91?

    • Sata is an opportunist per excellence and opportunists by nature never have principles. He is turning much of zambia against him then he will be asking the same folks for votes in 2016.Talk about cookin your own goose.

    • @Goncalves, what happened last week with you, you just turned back on your hero Sata? You Iscariot!! Anyway welcome to opposition.

  2. why should PF panick if they are doing a good job? this panick can only be concern to PF if they know that Sata is a dictator

  3. The PF project has failed and only the blind can not see

The 2016 elections will the greatest experience in Zambia ever Ukwa will collapse

It will be a resounding rejection never seen before

PF MP’s will even fear to go and campaign…. times have changed you can not take people for granted

    • It will be the final end of independence stone throwing politicians and a new era for Zambia

    • My prediction (Remember you heard it from me)

      PF (22) MP’s
      MMD (39) MP’s
      UNPD (89) MP’s

    • Ba UpDn mwatampa! You always say you will thump the rest. Election day comes and start crying. Sata may be insuficiently schooled but he is an achiever and better than HH.
FACT; SATA got more votes than the combined total of HH+RB.
HH got lesser votes than in 2006. Ni dimishing returns!
Wish you luck with your Bitter man!

    • Ba Engineer,i have already bought my big bottle of Chardonnay and its chilling in my wine cooler in readiness for an epic collapse of this PF nightmare.

    • Engineer Australia.. I know that lunancy is part of democracy and human freedoms. Your analysis about number of seats pf,mmd, upnd ll get in 2016 is pure lunancy and no one shud take u seriously.

  4. Absolute human rights is a myth. Those getting absolute human rights become crazy with those absolute human rights to the detriment of others. There should be limits and consequences to abuse of those absolute human right. Undermining governance in the name of human rights should also have limits or everything becomes ungovernable. We need respect of each other and those rights come with the respect you give and receive.

    • In a case where a government was democratically elected by the people, I feel that my human rights must be respected and NOT trampled on by the same government that I elected into power ! It’s within my rights, to let my oppressors know when they have crossed the boundaries!
However, there is another scenario, on the grassroots, where teenage children become overzealous with their human rights issues, and they go to the extent of sueing their parents for infringement of their human rights, simply because they were scolded or caned with a ‘bwembya’ ! So, I guess, the context in which these human rights issue are taken matters a lot ! Will we be responsible for raising a generation of juvenile delinquents or just human right conscious people ?????

  5. The way the Australian Engineer sees politics in Zambia! Is it only when HH leads Zambia that all will be roses? I doubt that. Each presidency will face real problems. Its not plain sailing. Just let Sata lead. Whoever comes after him will have his time. We are all human after all, full of shortcomings, no one will be God, never. Ask those anyone during KK, FTJ, LPM, FTMC and RBB, there were ever thosr for him and those against. So, do not insult, demean, be irritable, or overdo your criticism. All what goes round comes around. For sure we needed Sata, thats God’s design. You cant beat it. If he is designed for one or two terms it shall come to pass. As for HH what will you do if Zambians never allow him to rule. Remember By Mwila, Miyanda, Gen Tembo, etc they all seemed they would rule!

    • Hi, for your information am not UNPD supporter at all. You need to read the wind of change. Sata cheated his way to power. The fact is that he has been exposed after hiding in opposition all these years. he has absolutely nothing to offer.

You may not like UNPD, the reality is that they have the structures on the ground to take advantage of the total failure of PF.

In fact PF is busy in self destruction to the advantage of UNPD

    • @High speed black mama
Floyd chitalu is a fruit cake? What kind? apple friut cake or masawa fruit cake??
      elaborate please…hahahahahahahah

    • UPND wll never have more votes than PF in any general election take it from me we fi ba TONGA mule teka fye ingombe not abantu

  6. It is true they have ganged up. Everything is condemed. He builds a road, university, clinic, school and creats a district it is a problems. meanwhile chief and their subjects are happy and busy working out boundaries of where district centres will be located. the sad people in all this are the opposition and their NGOs. They hate PF so much that they would rather sacrifice the very people they want votes from. Sanctions from commonwealth will not hurt the politicians but the ordinary.

  7. @High Speed Mama, call me fruit cake. Your head! Analyze issues the way you see them. I have given my analysis, what about yours. Truth is the way you are different from me says a lot about our differences. Tell me why is there socialist, communist, capitalism, humanism or a mixture of these, the nonaligned? Its because we see things differently. Using insults will lead us no where in resolving the Zambian scenario. What must you do to resolve it? Is it by insults, bitterness, tribalism or bantustans, no. You must espouse your opinion and then we harmonize the differences. Remember you and me are Zambians and both of us donot want to see the Syrian scenario, we can avoid that. So insults are too basic in thinking, showing your shallowness. The Austrialian Engineer is saying something.

    • No one has ever managed to stop the wind of change when it come…

It came in 1991 for KK
It came in 2011 for MMD

Unfortunately its coming early for PF. Democracy is a development once tasted, its too sweet to give away. Unfortunately old school Sata does not understand it. His down fall will be bad

    • In every age and every generation, men have envisioned a promised land. Some may have envisioned it with the wrong ideology, with the wrong philosophical presupposition. But men in every generation thought in terms of some promised land.

    • crazy foreigners what do u know..after all most of u are just barking and have no cards..talk about the countries u live in…If u want to prove it travel to ZED and see how popular PF has become!!

    • #Musangu Muzaza, please just analyse the issues and do not insult other boggers ! Look at that flag, it is a US flag, so stop insulting others while you yourself are hiding behind a US banner! Does that make sense to you?? Articulate the issues please! We are all born-Zambians whether you like it or not !!!

  8. “criminals have ganged up to oppose sata n pf” kabimba vomits. This ka tinpot calls the opposition parties as a gang of criminals but they dont attack worshipers in churches eg Bigoga in Matero it’s kabimba militia,so kabimba’s pf faeces. Pf cadres are the criminals ganging up against the Opposition Partiest pf’s resorting to intimiding n beating pipo.

  9. but excuse me for asking such a dumb question, why shouldn’t the opposition team up against sata? the opposition did team up against mmd, remember the pact? thanks for your tolerance.

  10. The opposition teaming up against Sata is indeed wishful thinking. Its no long ago we had UPND and FDD, you know what happened, very recent too is PF and UPND we all know what happened. The same way it happened that coallition you thinking of will still crumble. Its about power which is so sweet. Who will let the other lead among Heritage, MMD, FDD, NAREP, ABZ, etc? They are all damn power hungry, just like their supporters who use insults as shortcut to deliver their opinions. It won’t be easy. Sata may prove cleverer in mass mobilisation than even a combination of all opposition – you may prove me right in due course. Put the ball on the ground, to the grassroots. If you can’t win hearts and minds there, forget it. Your party head will get so frustrated with a terrible outcome.

  11. Who among Miyanda, Nevers, Sondashi, Milupi, Hachilema, Bwalya, Chipimo, Nawakwi, etc do you want to lead the opposition? These die hard leaders of their parties! No one wants to leaver his leadership and be led. Thats what you must understand. Slove that plain puzzle before you start tackling Sata or your shouts are just hollow and you will just the eco of your shouts. Analyze issues at handle before giving light weight insults. Understand politics.

  12. opposition should have better stategies or it will just be wishful thinking that they will win 2016,meantime lets help the current government where they do somethings right.not opposing at every corner, hey undp open up more.

  13. I cannot wait for this evil govt to fall like meteor and breakup.Sata ,his evil minions and PF are the ones who’ve conspired to cheat zambians off a future.Nothing of note they have done and Sata surely has nothing to offer other than useless vilification of the opposition.

  14. Ba Engineer upnd has bn nose diving in each genral ection ever since HH took upnd.So where re u drawing yr hypothesis frm?Worse still each bye election results ve never indicated upnd to reckon with now the way u predict 2016 outcomes leaves much to b desired. This id reality here on the ground not Australia.DThis is my advice fr u moreover HH has always bn a distant 3rd in general election results with his results ever declining even on MPs numbrs, this ia fact.Wat & c yr engiring concepys far frm political facts not insticts.

  15. @TheEngineer(Australia):

“[Your] prediction (Remember you heard it from me)
    PF (22) MP’s
    MMD (39) MP’s
    UNPD (89) MP’s…”

Wow, what have you Engineered for a SMOKE bululu? Because yours sounds laughable even to a DRUNK!

My prediction: “UPND 89 MPs” only if all its “KEYBOARD ADDICTED” supporters move to Zambia and vote in the 2016 elections. Even that still sounds laughable to a real lubanje ADICT!

Where are we basing all these wild predictions that can only be believed by someone on a steady diet of ‘junk political naivety’ being span by self-deluded egomaniacs? A little bit of truthfulness about issues will go a long way in correcting what is hailing the opposition and, maybe, give the PF a run for its money in 2016—NOT what we currently have in the opposition!

  16. Now all the PF cadres in foreign commissions have descended on this blog ! C’mon go do the job you are being paid to do !! Remove your ugly faces from those computer screens and go earn your pay ba Kwindi !!!

  17. Politicaal analysis unfetered with bridled political myopic manouvres breeds objective & focused enviosioned analysis. To predict an assumptiion tht has econometric proof is also justified in the realm of proven histotorical records as opposed to upheaval foccasting. This tatntamounts fo to unpredictable event tht can yield unprecedent events tht are qualitative & not quantitative results.Lets focus properly.

  18. No one in the opposition is tarnishing the political image of either President Sata or the PF leadership. THEY HAVE DONE A GOOD ENOUGH JOB OF THAT THEMSELVES!

In fact they have rubbished it!
