Katongo-I will keep going

Share

Zambia captain Christopher Katongo says he is not moved by criticisms from fans.
Katongo said he does not focus on his critics.

The China-based forward on Saturday contributed a goal after making one assist as Zambia thumped Lesotho 4-0 in the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Ndola.

“We don’t focus on critics but we hear what people say,” Katongo said.

“I will keep on going. I don’t have pressure to perform,” he added.
Katongo received heavy criticism at the 2013 Africa Cup in South Africa over his questionable peformance.

The criticism forced coach Herve Renard to bench Katongo in Zambia’s last group match against Burkina Faso which ended in a draw.

  1. “I will keep on going. I don’t have pressure to perform.” U still have a huge task ahead of you captain. If i were you i could just keep quiet till the mission is accomplished.

  4. They say “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” Keep up the good work Chris. We shall always love…your record speaks for itself. Soldier on!

  7. Problem with Chitongo is his serious rate of inconsistency. Today he is brilliant, tomorrow he is completely malabilshi!

  8. Ba Solola Bye…mukatampe ukuteya bola tukamone nga muka cisha pafyo Katongo apwishishisha…
Bamo bena Zambia impika twakwata, tutasha nga fili mwi tobo…

  9. A real professional uses criticism to sharpen his or her motivation and skills.

” Moving on” or denial of criticism is just plain childish attitude.

But this is what katongo is – a whimp who can not stomach criticism.

We are yet to see some consistency in the team’s performance, so I am not dishing out any congratulations. Even Ghana whalloped Lesotho and they are the ones we are really in contention with.

  10. In 1993 govt could not pay Danish Coach Raold Poulsen so FAZ parted with him. Govt then gave Chipolopolo Ian Porterfield. Zambia was leading their World Cup qualifying group and were favourites for a slot. Their next game was against Senegal then a pushover (like Lesotho). Zambia needed to beat Senegal twice to put Morocco out of the reckoning. In a game that they could have won by a cricket scoreline Zambia drew with Senegal in Dakar. Senegal lost the return 4-0 in Lusaka. Zambia, needing just a draw, then had a crucial last game against Morocco in Rabat. They lost that game 1-0 to Morocco and Diramba. Substitute Senegal for Lesotho and Ghana for Morocco in the above narration for a taste of things to come.zambia drew 1-1 with lesotho and defeated them 4-0 in the return leg in ndola…
