Residents of Shangombo district in Western province have given a two weeks ultimatum to newly appointed district commissioner Dominic Lisulo to vacate the office.

The development comes exactly three weeks after the dismissal of former district commissioner Martin Mwauluka who had his contract terminated for alleged misconduct. The residents are now demanding that the newly appointed DC vacates office because they want to have a district commissioner who was born and bred in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, a Mr. Kafunya told ZANIS in a telephone interview today that they will not accept strangers in the office of the district commissioner anymore.

Mr. Kafunya explained that Shangombo unlike other districts in the province and the country as a whole has always been subjected to what he termed as “strangers and second class material for district commissioners”.

He added that it was not a question of whether Mr. Lisulo can perform or not but that the residents have decided to settle for Sioma district Commissioner Mubiana Mutomena who acted in the position for two weeks.

Mr. Kafunya stressed that government should show its commitment to the people of Shangombo by moving Mr. Mutomena from Sioma to Shangombo .The residents have claimed that Mr. Mutomena has not only demonstrated quality leadership in the two weeks that he acted as DC but that he was also born and bred in the area.

  1. EVEN EASTERN PROVINCE MINISTER SHOULD LEAVE TOGETHER WITH HIS PS. WE SHOULD LIKE MUKOMBWE WE NEED PEOPLE WHO THE PROVINCE WELL

  2. Zambia is for all Zambians. I think competent Zambians regardless of tribe should be given an opportunity to serve anywhere within the country. This myopic notion of trying to discriminate against people like this is retrogressive.

    • This is not about tribe. Besides the two gentlemen Mr Mubiana Mutomena and Mr Lisulo are Lozis. The people of Shangombo just feel that a local born and bred chap is best able to administer long forsaken Shangombo better. Kaunda had closed off the entire South Western portion of Zambia for military operations of SWAPO and ANC against Apartheid South Africa. These are the Zambians who directly suffered for Zambia’s support for the liberation movements. They were used and forgotten!

  3. Shangombo people, what exactly is your contribution to Zambia’s economy? You are just liabilities, be quiet

    • You are the ones who impoverished them for condoning off the South Western portion of the country as a military zone! Nice to know that there are people who are more Zambian than others. One wonders why the bulk of development projects are going to Muchinga Province when it is North Western Province that is producing half the copper in Zambia? What does Muchinga contribute to Zambia?

    • Such comments do not deserve a response, but since you have asked your sill.y question, I will simply tell you that had Shang’ombo been that useless as your small mind would have you believe, it would have either been part of Angola or Namibia. There’s a lot that the region has to offer. Free advice learn to read and understand issues to do with resources! Kozo!
