His Excellency Rupiah Bwezani Banda, the Fourth President of the Republic of Zambia, today urged Zambians to bury their differences and unite for the greater interest of the country.
The former head of State said this when he mingled with Chipata residents who flocked Modern Bazaar when word went round that he had entered the shop, forcing the owners to lock the doors.
Upon coming out, President Banda found several residents camped outside, and the only way he could disperse them was by talking to them.
“I am happy to see that you are still peaceful people. Peace and unity are some of the characteristics that define our nation. I want to encourage you to continue loving one another regardless of your political party affiliations. Most of all, seek no revenge against your perceived enemies from whichever party,” said the retired head of State.
He further advised the residents to refrain from violence, as it was retrogressive to national development.
The former president has spent this week in Chipata visiting relatives and checking on his Chasimpha farm on the Chipata-Mfuwe road.

Ndekete
I would’t stoop to your level, even to help you up!
banda is the greediest and and most selfish,he cant preach love today just to get sympathy,we are wat we are because of his selfishness, banda you are paying the price for you cried after loosing elections for your friends tha they will loose jobs you never cared for us ordinary people.sqeeze him pf naye naye
A reconcilatory, diplomatic approach on his part whilst on the other hand he went to great leagths to hand over MMD presidency to confrontational hothead Never’s. Why? To use desperate Nevers? Responsible men stand up for themselves, No matter what the circumstances are! This does not seem to be the case here.
Don Corleone, He has a farm mealie meal prices would nto affect him. i wish when im at his age i would have a base like his and HH. If things get rough, your enemies winning, you can still survive like a Don back in sicily laying low.
RB, who did you love or respect while you were President? Hypocrite.
atleast he is better than this lunatic of a president ba PF PATHETIC FOOOOOLLLLSSS mwanya PF yi chosa ma subsidies na pa masamba muzambo gula 30 kwacha masamba
@labia nubian princess
Holier than thou! ka… can you do better RB`s advice for love and peace for zambia???
@Dobo – What is your obsession with labia. Every woman has them including you mother and they are beautiful and desired and respected by real men, not you obviously.
Nubian bitches: RB loved and respected the zambian people by leaving record forex reserves, bumper maize harvests with afforadble mealie prices, less political acrimony unlike today and more respect from our region for zambia unlike today.
some labias make sense and they are likeable and respected… some donot, i dont know about yours
This thieving chap Ala Bee will not just stay put…
your are not a judge, not even a corrupt one like most of the judges we have today.
Civilised Barly.
Mr Facts well spoken comrade RB is a real President and Democrat now that we have PF thes total confiusion in the country it wasnt like this wen MMD was in power
RB might have been one of our worst rulers, but we cannot take aware his genuine advice for love and peace among us. This is good advice rarely seen during your time though.
Nansense, you look at who issued this article and photos; his Deputy Assistant Office Orderly.
That `Deputy Assistant office orderly` is better than your sekani and take some advice from what Nawakwi is saying
@Maxwell…..so what if it is his assistant who authored the story? Haven’t we seen pictures of president Sata taken by his cameramen that make him look like he is wearing a Bullet proof U-bag? Does it subtract the fact that he is the head of state? NO.
At least he(RB) talk to the people while the president is quit on so many issues affecting the nation including the elephant tusks which walked from KK international airport to chilanga ZAWA offices and back to the airport.
Is he relaunching himself?
@Ndobo,only lunatics like u or yo fellow demons can buy into what the biggest hypocrite has said. The id iot is hiring meceneries to fight a duly elected govt at the same time purpoting to b peaceful.Chilimunya, author u must b a big fool.
i am sacking shakafuswa and chibombamilomo, if they are ministers for the post, they are not ministers for me, and ill follow them wherever and ill sack them too. RB once said these words. where is the love. but this doesnt mean we shouldnt, for the love of our country and the children of this land, lets remain united. thanx RB for that advice and reminder.
The message in and of itself is unquestionably good for the Nation. But the messenger is very questionable simply because among other things, he did not walk the talk. e.g. this is the man who sunk so low he called an opposition leader’s wife derogatory names for no apparent reason. This was a new low in Zambian politics. The big question is:- Why is this man today emerging as champion of cordial inter-party relationships? The answer is obvious: – Sata’s mediocrity makes RB look good.
Well said papa Rupiah and gr8t respect for that.I wish you had stayed on for two full terms so we could have even more forex reserves, bumper harvests and a more united zambia at peace with itself and respected regionally. All we have today is the complete opposite of all the above.
This man had 3 yrs to be great and he instead chose the Chiluba style criminal route and now he has the guts to preach to us. He just needs to go away … And similar crap happened on his watch so he is not the most credible messenger …
Wisi Boyi, I don’t know where you were during RB’s three year tenure as republican president. Peace and unity has always been his message even when he was vice-president. For those of us who know the man well, he has not said anything new. You will throw all the mud in this country at RB but he will not get smeared because he is naturally a humble, peaceful loving and likeable person.
LT HAS GONE TO THE DOGS OR THE DOGS HAVE COME TO LT. SURELY SO MUCH INSULTS ON LT. I THOUGHT THAT IS THE CULTURE FOR THE ZW-DOG.
RB my hero and u ll always remain a hero. I cant just compare you to these pathetic Failures (PF), it’s now already half way past your 3 year term but no action only pronouncements without action. They will only realise when they will be 4 yrs gone in their term that people will not eat promises any more.
MSH ulikapuba sana with your RB
No matter what you all say, great times under), for those that understand governance, economics etc, Zambia prospered under), foreign reserves increased. When one preaches love heed the advice, no one is forcing you take it, better than being showered with chibuku. When are we going to learn to respect our former Presidents?
msh watchout.U thnk the misery RB inflicted re so easy or ve jst acepted ignorance.Anyway whn education is expensive try ignorance! Its yr choice.Hakahi votela Heka lost it al alone.Greed, persnal ego, conceit,& pride lured hm frm a pact on acount of not acepting to b led by Sata.He went further further sayng no oposition can win election against MMD.Worsestil evn went to bed with MMD as a pact & to his dismay lost as a distant 3rd.This anger & calous hate has haunted Hakahi votela Heka with anger & jealousy. The man now cals fr international comunity, why? He is hopeles & has no vision. The chap is nt a decision maker includng u msh.Bickering wont earner us at al.If its tough retire.Politics shud b earnd with objective strugle not forcing fr recognition. Its not easy baba!
Again that ‘s hyena that follow lion who is seeking the food.
These are words of wisdom from our beloved Father of the Nation. In theory, a Republican President is expected to embrace all the citizens of Zambia irrespective of their tribe, race, religious belief or political affiliations. This is the kind of wisdom that is radiating from His Excellency President Rupiah Bwezan Banda. But the dirt that oozes out of Sata’s mouth is disgustingly full of evil. Where-ever Sata goes he leaves of trail of hatred and violence. GOD BLESS OUR BELOVED RB.
