Lubansenshi Independent MP Patrick Mucheleka has charged that President Michael Sata should take the full blame for the growing levels of political violence in the country.
Giving details of his recent harassment suffered at the hands of police officers when he toured his constituency, Mr. Mucheleka accused President Sata of issuing orders to police to go round and intimidate certain citizens.
“On Wednesday, June 4th 2013, I set out to inspect a CDF project at Njeke Basic School, I deliberately choose to conduct the inspection after 15 Hours as I knew that pupils will have knocked off by that time. After the inspection, I interacted with the local community. Unfortunately, the following day, police officers based in Kasama were deployed to combine efforts with Luwingu police officers to arrest me,” Mr. Mucheleka said.
“Dressed in full combat kit and brandishing guns and other weapons, the officers mounted an operation. According to the officers, I had committed an offence by not obtaining permission from the Luwingu District Commissioner and the officer in charge to venture into my constituency,” he said.
“I was only rescued by good Samaritans who secured my safe passage out of Luwingu.”
He continued, “I was also reported to have further committed an offence by engaging in a discussion on the topical subject of the removal of subsidies on fuel and maize.”
Mr. Mucheleka said it later came to his attention that police officers rounded up some teachers of Njeke Basic School using the official motor vehicle of the DC.

According to the officers, I had committed an offence by not obtaining permission from the Luwingu District Commissioner and the officer in charge to venture into my constituency,” he said.[/pullquote]
“The teachers that were rounded up were those believed to be accomplices to the crime.”
“As I speak, I have learnt that some teachers in the constituency who are perceived to be sympathizers are being transferred either from Lubansenshi or from Luwingu district,” he said.
The Lubansenshi MP has since called on the Ministry of Education, Teacher Unions, the civil society and other stakeholders who value education to specifically investigate the going-ons at various schools in the constituency.
Mr. Mucheleka also appealed to President Sata to pay attention to issues of good governance and human rights in order for democracy to grow.
“He knows what is going on, infact he is the one responsible for this violence we are seeing in this country. He should take the full blame,” he charged.
“We have seen a steady degeneration in the rule of law in the short period that the PF has been in power. It is indeed unprecedented for an MP to be expected to obtain permission from a civil servant to visit a constituency.”
Now, that’s donchi kubeba!!!!!!
Could someone confirms AMA rumours about mr sata’s relationship with majory mwisha the aunty of george chellah are fondling pa side plate and that’s why chellah has a job for life.they even have a 4 year old daughter. Embarrassing for ba kaseba mwe
Sata’s step just like Fwanya, and his laugh like Chimbwi…
Sata laughed his lungs out this morning after ka George Chella should him Fr. Bwalya soaked in Chibuku!! Abantu bamo balitumpa mweee.
@Nostradamus
iwe nostra! kekekeeikkeiekkdkkskaka fwanya! that catoon guy! but do you know what?, Fwanya was not scared of potato cut or bald heads…
And ya i can imagine! Sata must have laughed the heck out of himself when he heard that bwalya was drowned in chibuku
Mucheleka is very right on this.Sata has created a dictatorial police state where rule of law is a foreign concept and death + violence has become the norm.Time to throw this baby out with the birth water before total damage is done.Even North Korea is more tolerant in comparison to zed.
Am not sure it will be wrong to begin praying Sata dies tomorrow- please God help us before he destroys this beautiful country.
And this MP wants us to believe this story? First, to effect an arrest of one man, it does not require numerous police from Luwingu and kasama. Secondly, how can “good Samaritans rescue one man from a battalion of armed policemen?? I do not think that the President can sink so low as to hunt down a lone MP just to intimidate him.
Chris, Your orbesavation is very true.Any one can tell that what this man is saying is a lie!!
Who is Chritopher Mulenga @ 3 any way?. Probably Sata’s cadre who beat up Zambians while in the house of God. Todate, any sane Zambia un aware of violence going round in the country is unfit for public space. Honourable Mucheleka is an independent MP with rights like any other MP and to be publicly attacked for being independent MP with independent mind efffectively representing his constituency to the dislike of PF govenment is not only shameful but direct assault on democracy. Sata and his PF should never think will be in power for ever. Lessons from UNIP and MMD to intelligent people is enough.
Christopher, think again please! You do not need the bloggers to think for you! What would benefit Patrick to go about telling lies anyway? He is a credible person who the president has even failed to lure into his bandwagon, the PF. Are you blind to see what is happening in the country or you simply do not believe how Sata and his cronies are disrespecting the rule of law in the country! How dare you even say you do not think the president can sink that low, Sata is that person who sinks extremely low and it is a pity that even people like you who passed through higher learning institutes can support this kaponya mentality of rule in Zambia! Wake up iwe!
Ba Christopher stop being childish please, haven’t you heard and seen what is happening in the country honestly? Sata is that president who has sunk that low and I feel pity for you people who have even passed through higher learning institutions yet you cannot see the wrong being perpetrated by the PF. Sata is destroying democracy and the human rights we have been experiencing in Zambia. The bloggers cannot afford to educate on this matter, kubelenga fye mudala!
you Bemba man i will send you Photos
Hahaha, the annual ranking of african leaders by Africa Review of Nation media Group based in Kenya is out.No surprise in its findings coz Sata is ranking really badly in their Africa leadership Index.
Don’t expect anything good from this evil and vile man. Destruction is his purpose on earth. He is Satan’s only begotten son!
Goncalves,I dont think he wouldnt have been in state house if he was what you are saying.
Its people of Zambia who put him where he is.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is a week ago, when two chiefs told Mucheleka that needs to calm down as the projects he is inspecting are initiated by the govt. Mucheleka went to lubanseshi, Tungati and Shimumbi,to over see projects, instead started belittling Sata and that was when chief Shimumbi and Tungati advised him to stop his insults and that people want developments and that he has done little to show off. Mucheleka possibly people who went to luwingu sec school may know the Mucheleka family just after lubanseshi river. It’s not a surprise that he the old behaviour has not died or changed. In thec1980s by then Kapatamoyo was a headmaster this Mucheleka made accusations that kapatamoyo was anti UNIP that’s why he was suspended from sch by then the late governor Rodgers Mubanga got
Thats is what any one can expect….there is no way one can be stoped from visiting without any reason.
I dont think Sata can sink so low for this Mucheleka who is not even a pon in the game.
You have personal issues with the Muchelekas, it does not matter what happened in the past which is not even true and the people you have mentioned are not even alive. The Mucheleka being discussed is here is an MP who was harassed by the police with orders from state house, do not even try to change the topic, because what is happening in Zambia is very sad and PF and company need to change and start respecting human rights! Ukafwa nechikonko
Mulichipuba imwe! How can you justify this nonsense based on the past event of UNIP? Please kafwileni ukutali nechikonko chenu mukwayi!
I am suprised that people are shocked at what is happening in Zambia regarding the level of political intolarence. Sata is no respector of human rights and governance norms since times immemorial. What Sata needs is a Dawson Lupunga to domesticate him finito! He only understands violence thats his incarnate nature. Now I believe that a whole people can be ethically, socially and collectively myopic. How did we just get this PF monister and leviathan into state house with hindsight knowledge of the Chawama masacre, the third term chaos, the K2 billion cash MMD convention in Kabwe, bearing of children with multiple women, nepotism in every ministry he served under MMD etc. What kind of spell deluded our right reason to make him the leader of this lovely nation of Zambia?
Nowonder, no sane…
You have forgotten that all you are doing was said during 2011 Elections through Chanda Chimbwi, saunders, watchdog,HH,RB, CHILUBA(L), and many other jackals.
We went ahead and voted for him. It is no wonder you are now hiring thugs to beat you up, pour chibuku on yourselves.
Zambians know that you target is the Armsterdam dossier. 2016 majority voters will again vote for the uneducated, snake, inhuman Sata!
This will show that the so called clever ones will have failed again
STOP WINGING – put the impeachment motion INTO parliament ! What do you MPs expect from “ordinary” citizens? When leaders creep around like scared rabbits, the people think its Armageddon and go for sangwapo…your procrastination is fuelling lawlessness: DO SOMETHING or say absolutely nothing!!
Cont: involved the same old story Mr Kapatamoyo was proved to be right for suspending him. I do know Mucheleka well and how naive and big headed he can becomeat the same time can speak his mind. Possibly this were he misses the ability to connect with people who put him in power. He may over rate himself and usually not reading the feelings of the people and the political atmosphere.he is a nice guy and a family man too but needs to learn from the past mistakes and put himself in a position were he is seen as a leader and not a commander of a ill company
Tiyoko chimbwi, is he the only one who has been harrased? U cant see the levels of intorelance in Zambia now? State Police?? Vigilantes?? Maybe ur one of them but pliz leave the Zambians in peace…
If he insulted then charge him with that offence, but stopping him from visiting his constituency sounds a bit absurd.
I think you have missed the fact that he is an independent MP and therefore, only answerable to God, his constituents and the constitution of Zambia. No one can expel him other than his constituents. Notwithstanding, it would help his cause if he formally complained to the Speaker of the NA on the police harassment for visiting his constituency.
Harassment by police or cadres seems to be the new normal in Zambia.how do you arrest an MP for visiting his constituency? Why are govt ministers allowed to talk about the subsidy removal and the rest of Zambians not allowed? I’m getting sick and tired of whats happening in beloved peaceful Zambia.
@bobby seeing that you are abroad I expect you to research what other blogs have contributed and then you can add 1 +1 to get an answer. This MP according to one blog,Pafwenamwine, went to his constituency and had the rights to do so without permission but what he started doing annoyed the chiefs and I suppose thats where the all story starts from. Needless to say that I know this gentleman to be like just @pafwenamwine as described. In all honest there is no way an MP can seek permission to visit his constituency unless he holds meetings contrary to government policy there he invites police. Please stop been hypersensitive like Amsterdam who just waits for any negative report without analysis. You end up hitting the nail whilst its cold.
@ Mbezi, I know Patrick too and I do not see anything wrong with him discussing the removal of subsidies with his constituents because that is not an offense at all under the laws of Zambia. Neither is there anything wrong with him challenging the President over the issue of coronation of Chiefs. After all apart from being part of the royal family he is a citizen of Zambia, who is equally entitled to comment on issues he does not agree with. The problem with our President is that he wants to involve himself in any little thing. He can appoint people in Government but that should not extend to Chiefs too. He is not an expert on Bemba/Bisa culture.
the story is not adding up at all. these are true lies.
HH has been telling you northerners for years now, that your fellow northerner says you make it news …. visionless people!
Mmm, we may soon be needing Pf cards to enter our own homes lol?
The saddest thing is that despite all these reports of violence being leveled at PF cadres the president chooses to be unconcerned and has no intention whatsoever to address the issues publicly. Instead the nation is being fed with hollow and uncoordinated statements of denial by the so many spokespersons. Why is the president not interested in talking to the nation?
Indeed back in UNIP days were one could not say anything against KK, now Sata is showing us true colors of his real character. SO many violent activities are going on in the country and he has not condemned them or said a word. Could this really be proof that he is the architect of all the violence we are seeing in the country. Why arrest or intimidate an MP for visiting projects in his constituency anyway? Whether he initiated them or not does not matter because he is the MP for that area he has the right to check what is happening in his constituency. What has happened to checks and balances in Zambia, soon people will be missing the MMD even if they were corrupt, at least people said their minds off without being arrested and no wonder PF won because of the rule of law in MMD!
relief will only come after sata is dead. this man is evil and is trying to hide behind a finger on every issue
Guru…who knows, you might die earlier that our president. When did u start saying he is sick and he will soon die? From that time, how many (relatives and friends) of yours have died?
Chiza kubaba chabeeee…..
The expression “hide behind a finger ” is very common in Zimbabwe. I am almost hundred percent sure that you are Zimbabwean. At least I know one foreign blogger following Zambian politics.
Mucheleka can a batalion b sent to haras u?U jst need one recruitee to manhandle u & lock u p.Wht the hell bother yrself & over rate yrself.Dont express naiveit aftr chancing tht constituency.U wil run mwana this is politics bt dont cheat pipo tel the truth.

Forgive me if my question is absurd and makes me feel more distant from Zambia but I will ask anyway…. what is ukwa? I have seen this term many a times but was hoping I will catch the meaning of it in time. Now I concede.

@Confused.com did you bother to google your inquiry or do you ever watch Nigerian movies? Try both and you’ll get your answer.Somebody looks like a character in those movies.
Children, do not despair…as dialectics teaches us, and Karl Marx that European touches upon this…where there is a negative good must be found too. We v seen deliberate violence in the nation recently, we have also seen the unfortunate accident at Ndola concerning while sister soccer fan. These two incidents respectively demonstrate to us the weakness, cowardice, and beginning downfall of the PF in power, if they carry on on this perilous course. The People of Zambia must soon revolt against these injustices…The accident at the Post Office Ndola, shows lack of organisation and creativity in distributing tickets.. Someone is being greedy and selfish in maintaining a monopoly on who sells the tickets. More outlets distributing the tickets will abet such unfortunate events in the future.
Zambia: Sata’s Tongue Lashing Call Makes Female LAZ Official Faint
13 June 2013 , By Peter Adamu, Source: Zambia Reports
President Michael Sata’s sarcastic telephone call to a Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) official to protect his allegedly corrupt friend Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mutembo Nchito made a female secretariat staff faint only to recuperate from a hospital bed.
Siphelile Mwila’s only sin to warrant an earth moving call from the head of State was to dutifully deliver summons for Mutembo to appear before a LAZ committee investigating his professional misconduct.
Mwila mistakenly thought she was the luckiest citizen to receive a call from Plot One but what followed in that conversation were vulgarities from President Sata to completely shatter her morale and…
Time will tell
