Kenya stun Swaziland

Edwin Lavasta netted a brace as Kenya thrashed Swaziland 2-0 in the Cosafa Cup Group B match at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on Tuesday.

Lavasta who was voted man of the match scored in each half to brighten Kenya’s chances of reaching Sunday’s quarterfinals where Angola awaits at the same venue.

He headed the Harambee Stars in front in the 4th minute after the Swazi backline failed to clear a long cross from the midfield.

Lavasta completed his brace with a powerful shot outside the box on 54 minutes.

Swaziland tried to come back in the game with futile late efforts.

Zweli Nxumalo nearly reduced the deficit in the 77th minute but his free kick from outside the box was parried by goalkeeper Fredrick Onyango.

The East Africans now lead Group B on four points after Monday’s 2-2 draw with Lesotho.
