Some civil servants working in Chief Mukubwe’s chiefdom in Kapiri Mposhi district have fled the area for fear of witchcraft.
The civil servants who include those from the Ministries of Education, Health and Agriculture started fleeing the area abandoning their offices last week along with their families.
Kapiri Mposhi District Commission, Beatrice Sikazwe confirmed the development to ZANIS today.
Ms Sikazwe said the government workers have accused the local people in Mutenda, Chibobo, Mumba Chala, Iwonde, Chilwa Island and Chibungo areas of practicing witchcraft on them and their families.
She said the workers and their families were being troubled at night by suspected witches as they were discovering strange items such as Kwacha notes drenched in fresh blood and strange herbs on their door ways to their houses every morning they wake up.
Ms Sikazwe also said some female workers are allegedly being mysteriously sexually harassed in their sleep by unknown people during the night.
“Civil servants have run away from Mukubwe…. they have run away because of increased witchcraft that they have been subjected to by the locals … they have complained that they are not sleeping well during the night because of witchcraft,” Ms Sikazwe said.
Meanwhile, Ms Sikazwe has threatened to withdraw all civil servants working in the area if the local people continue with the tendency of harassing them.
Ms Sikazwe said government workers have chosen to work from the area for the benefit of the community and it is not in order that the same community they are serving should harass them.
The District Commisioner said she along with officers from the concerned government departments will on Monday next week go to the area to have meetings with the community to resolve the matter.
She noted that the alleged behavior by the community against government workers would cause underdevelopment in area.
The District Commissioner challenged the local communities in Mukubwe to support and cooperate with government workers because they are there to foster development.
She noted that the workers had sacrificed so much by accepting to work from remote areas of the district hence they should be supported and appreciated and not harassed by the local people.
Ms Sikazwe said government was committed to delivering development to its people and will not tolerate any act that impeded its smooth implementation of its policies.

if you desperately want a job,,, there are vacancies in rural kapiri… all applications are welcome!!!
That is what you get when you elect a PF MP in your area. It is a vote for the devil!
Where are the churches in that area?
Or they are not really churches but fronts for the devil.
Be born again and know how to engage in spiritual warfare. The one in us Christians is greater than the one in the enemy.
We just like calling ourselves Christian nation to protest against gays. Here is an issue if indeed you are Christians.
Remember PF got an MP ‘elected’ in Kapiri. That is a vote for the devil!
Magic. even the DC is confirming. Let them teach, treat and acquire farm inpts on their own. Just leave those Ndoshi
I have always said and I will say it again, CHIEFS should look at the problem of witchcraft in their areas with the seriousness this matter deserves. Witchcraft is Chiefs’ baby and they must address it in their so called ‘House of Chiefs’. They should not hide under ‘ discusing development issues’. This is government’s baby and not theirs as they receive ZERO tax payers funds. They can have an input into development just like any other citizen or body but its not their baby. Please Chiefs concentrate on your areas of expertise and that is WITCHCRAFT period.
It takes one to know one. They don’t want to work in rural areas.
@Cindy
I’m with Cindy on this one. Witchcraft seems strangely absent in cases where it could be justified. simple example, they could have used it to get rid of the colonialists without throwing a single stone.
I don’t believe that anyone can affect me with witchcraft ever, because it doesn’t exist in the realm I inhabit.
Sorry Nubian, this was a reply to the next comment after yours.
I have never believed in wichcraft, i always find it difficult to understand those who do, i cant comprehend how they believe a fellow human being can turn into a beast, or make someone rich, how possible is that?
On the other hand i believe in herbal medicine, herbs and scrubs soothing and calming me down after a stressful day or for hollistic purposes. I would love to see proof!
you are welcome to go to rural kapiri to take up the jobs of those fleeing, lets see if your disbelief will stand.
for your own information,, black magic is real so is red magic and white magic…
in the breath you have wierd things like voodo, witchcraft , satanism,,, and all sorts
If there is a God then there is also a devil..for every positive there is a negative.
Am not telling you to believe in anything,,,am just saying
If you believe in God then you better believe that the devil and his demons exist too. These witches, wizards and spiritual manipulators exist and are constantly working against God and his children. It is better to be prepared rather than experience the shock of your life when or if (God forbid) you should encounter such dark spiritual stuff.
I hear you , but still i dont understand how someone can basically manage to do things stated in the article above. How just how possible is that? If this is true, why dont these same witches and wizards do good things for themselves and others, for instance, produce a healthy rich happy life?
I think people have been indoctrinated or there must be another logical explaination, otherwise, i still need more convincing.

those lalas are swakas are lazy..they believe in witchcraft..no developemnt
Its probably the biggest problem haunting Zambia…witchcraft. We need to enact tough laws on witchcraft to curb this vice.Areas strong in this are very underdeveloped.Let no one gain from practising such primitive activities.People have even lost lives and we cant be silent anymore.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
In Mununga we are told at the market place you can buy Kalumba (lightning bolt) and send to someone you want killed. Even in dry season a small cloud will form above his head until it strikes.
When I was little, my village relatives told us about the existence of witchcraft and wizardry in Mununga, like it is the capital city of all witches & wizards!!!
Sortout witches for they a threat to communities and development retardation
Award the karavinas contract to destroy all the witches in the country
Unbelievable that DC can react to that type of nonsense. Of course the civil servants believe that they are being bewitched. Belief is however not always fact. Just get a piece of paper and sock it in red paint, thorough it at the door step of your opponent to scare him/her and see how a whole community can go crazy!. What a gullible country. Dreams are a distortion of what is significantly in your mind at a particular time or was in the past. When you are worried about witchcraft, you will dream about witches, ghosts etc. When the brain is semi-conscious the thoughts especially worries or anticipations become distorted as dreams because the brain is in a state of semi-activity. Superstition in Africa!
Right now, it seems Kabwe is the capital city of Satanism ! Spent Xmas there last year, and there are cases of people being murdered for body parts and human sacrifice. I hear this is all in the name of getting rich quicker ! Zambians have watched too much of the Nigerian movies and are doing everything possible to fill their bank accounts, build mansions, buy expensive cars, send their children to expensive schools, become elected into powerful government positions and the like ! The Zambia we left years ago, is now ridden with witchcraft, Satanism, etc, etc. Beware……..
Kabwe has always been a capital of all evil,,,, why do you think mulugushi ROCK OF AUTHORITY is kabwe..`rock of authority` to mean what authority?,,, kabwe is centrally located,,, good locations for satanism,,, spreading from the centre,
Brokenhil man evil forces have always be active in that town!!
Very correct Ndobo! Is it any wonder that PF had their fake convention there just before the 2011 elections.
Christianity in Zambia is lukewarm, if you go to countries like Nigeria where they believe so much in babalawo (ngangas), it is either you be a strong Christian or spiritualist. We should be strong believers because we are the light of the world – light surpasses darkness. Where light is darkness cannot prevail.
Your leaders are witches!
You can be neither a spiritualist nor a strong christian and fare just fine.
The last time I looked the Jews controlled a huge percentage of the world’s wealth, moslems do pretty well too.
There is nothing to fight apart from our own tendancy to destroy each other as humans.
Mwendoshi imwe shilekeni abantu babombe. Kanshi mwabashani?? Mwaba ciwishinwe ci Satana!!!!!!!!
There is no witchcrafts those civil servats they don’t want to work in rural areas. In Mukumbwe the civil servants have been operating for years and years . E.g in 1980s PWD workers, teachers and agriculture assistance have been working there without hearing witchcrafts . Just learn the language of the area and treat well the elderly people and the lest of the community . Lenje and Lamba are small language to learn. They are good people .
Not small language . I wanted to write simple to learn. Thanks
Please give me that medicine to sleep with women in their sleep, i will finish them starting from plot 1
