Chipolopolo Herve Renard has defended his misfiring front-line led by strikers Bornwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe at the COSAFA Cup.
Mwape and Mbewe scored one goal between them as hosts Zambia scooped the 2013 COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
Renard
“This time Bornwell Mwape scored only one goal but he scored two goals against Zimbabwe three months ago. It is not a problem one striker (Mbewe) not scoring, the most important is for his team to win,” said
Renard added: I think Festus had a good tournament though he didn’t score. He can improve and I would like to congratulate him for the big work he did for the team.”
Zambia netted five goals and conceded one during the COSAFA Cup campaign.
Renard is the most uselessly coach. why does he stick to non performing players? Every soccer fan saw the two players were not good and yet he still defends them. If you read thru all the comments from the fans it is on those two, but him has seen otherwise.
I appreciate Zed won thru individual players’ skills and dedication not from Renard’s coaching. Imagine if we had no good penalty or set piece takers as it is in the senior team, it would have been a disaster at Mwanawansa stadium .
Coach you need to improve your abilities instead of going on a defensive all the time. Admit that you have problem. Either your boys are mediocre or yourself. It’s either they are not listening to you or you don’t have the right tactics. To tell you the truth, that team can not match up to the black stars under twenty team. By the way we are playing them (black stars) in about a months time with such mediocre in the team I’m afraid there is nothing we will be going to do up there.
the two players in question a far much better than some of the players i watch in epl. Hope zambians are now washing away their primitivity and start supporting the local league. Do away with epl you primitive pipo.
One goal between them? Chizungu cha kuti icho?
ofcourse between the two strikers only one goal was scored. whats wrong
BaYellow, that Chizungu is correct big time.
Mu huzeni cha correct imwe ndimwe muzapwanya manje.
YOU EXPECT FOUR BALL BETWEEN THEM LEGS ?
THAT ENGLISH IS JUST OK.
Bornwell Mwape was misplaced by Renard he deployed him as a supporting striker to Festus. Festus is a complete plunk of a player who cannot keep the ball, in the league he has scored 5 headers out of 7 goals. Mwape can dribble and create chances and can play as a lone striker not that Festus plunk.
which local team does that number 9 play for?
Renard be serious those two were planks especially Festus Mbewe. You, you can’t see whats your problem just look for other two strikers for that team or you can drop festus and leave bornwell who showed something. How do you keep strikers nwho were defending on behalf of opponents through fouls, offsides and a few misfiring. whats your problem get a new skillful and faster player.
hehehe.we r used
In the just ended tournament, Festus and Bornwell were under performers not based on their inability to score only but also their overall contribution to the games. When the defense is mean a striker may not score but will still help the team in more ways than one. A striker can hold the ball, wait for support, pass and run into space, can knock down aerial balls to on coming midfielders, or better still take on defenders and still shoot at goal.
The duo was evidently absent on positives and noticeable for wrong reasons. If it is Festus, he was ever in wrong positions, could not hold the ball and rarely could he give a correct passes. Bornwell exposed himself as one who does not know when to shoot at goal and when to lay the ball for other strikers to finish.
Bornwell could shoot with a defender in front of him from impossible angles expecting to score from the near post. On all occasions it was side netting and our AfCON winning Coach Renard could notice all this?
Granted the team is “work in progress” but other than come to the defense of players Renard should be the first to diagnose a problem, acknowledge it and prescribe a solution. His comment here reeks of inability to read games. As for Festus and Bornwell let them work on their weaknesses and will support them all the way.
Well said and analysed comment. I agree with you 100% Br.
Festus Mbewe no more chance for him,at least Bornwell could shoot at goal. He is not a national team material, however, we shall keep him at Chilata.HR don’t make a mistake to take him for CHAN!
Off course we’ve won the Cosafa but not on Merritt but that we had home advantage. We fans have been proved right, we complained why Sate Sate was left left because the boy is a prolific striker who could have added a lot to our team. I am a Nkana fan but to be very frank our player F. Mbewe was a disgrace on the pitch for all the Cosafa matches he played. Bonwell equally underperformed and I see no reason why Renard is defending these players. Zesco too have strikers who could have been done alot.
Mwebantu Rena will take us no where. He is not a coach but a physical trainer.
BLACK MUNTU is very hard to pliz..
If he cant see anything wrong in those two then he is a wrong himself!! Sate Sate and Winston Kalengo should be upfront for CHAN, by the way why was Stanley Nshimbi left out of the squad?? “Leaner” not all days are Sundays, we are tired of your defensive styles mwe!! The Zimbabwe coach (former Now) can do wonders in Zambia, why cant we hire him??
RENNARD IS A CHANCER….and a PHYSICAL TRAINER NOT COACH ….KALU PLEASE GET RID OF HIM ….HE WILL NOT TAKE US ANYWHERE!!!!!
A good leader does not castigate his subjects in the public (even press) but must defend them and correct them at the right time. Those calling Renhard a chancer, well what have they chanced themselves ? VIVA ZAMBIA you did it.
Renard is NOT a coach.
ati HR is not a good coach, nga ba wiso bacouchingilepo kwisa? Problem with zambians we are enemies of our own success.
So much has been said about the strikers.I feel Renard has done well on the defence upto holding midfield but leaves alot of question marks going forward. We can insult the rookie strikers all we want but seriosly how many clear passes did they receive and fluffed over the three games?Very close to zero.We need to work on our creative play and let the topmen mess up on their own and place the blame on them 100%.For me mukuka mulenga is operating at 30% of his potential.he has the ability to be the best in africa,he needs to watch clips of Paul scholes,Iniesta,Xavi,Charles Musonda etc he can be up there.I have hope in these personally.
INCLUDE SATE SATE, MUDENDA, THEN LET MOSES PHIRI, SITUMBEKO AND CHAILA HAVE ENOUGH GAME TIME, IN THE FRONTLINE, THAT METHOD WILL START BRINGING GOALS, NOT FESTUS AND BORNWELL THEY PLAY THE SAME GAME, KONDWANI AND SYDNEY THEY SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED TOGETHER.
@ mcbyngs walasa.u took words out of my mouth. 0n renar, he is a good coach and he wouldn’t OPENLY criticise his 2 misfits in public like a bad political coach of zed who criticises his boys (ministers) and elders (chiefs) in public.
