The opposition Movement for Multiparty for Democracy (MMD) says it will not follow suit with the resolve made by the United Party for National Development (UPND) not to ever notify the Police whenever it intends to hold any public political gathering.

The UPND has resolved to start having random and spontaneous protests across the country without the permission of the Police until the Zambia Police Service reviews the methods it uses to implement the Public Order Act.

The UPND’s resolve has come in the light of the latest blocking by the Police of a protest it had scheduled to conduct against the Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda on Friday yesterday, August 23.

MMD president Nevers Mumba has however told Qfm in an interview that much as his party is not happy with the way the Public Order Act is being implemented in the country, the MMD will continue notifying the police about its intended demonstrations.

Dr. Mumba further adds that MMD will however proceed with which ever demonstration it plans to conduct after notifying the Police whether the Police agrees with its notification or not.

Dr. Mumba has charged that time has come for the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to realize that it needs to improve the tenets of democracy in the country and allow people to exercise their democratic rights freely.

    • I don’t think it’s humility. I think it’s making sure you follow the stipulation so that you don’t provide them an excuse to harm you. If you don’t inform the police you are wrong and can’t hit back at them when the time is right. They will use it against you.

  1. well spoken sir, why should you follow blindly? Let also the PF allow genuine demonstrations than always denying people’s right.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  2. The battle is not yours, but God’s-2Chronicles20:15.Zambia Shall Be Saved from the evil pipo,PF sadists and immoral characters like Kabimba, included.

  3. Who asked mmd to follow upnd? Then he says he will go ahead whether police say no,this reasoning is myopic because the consequence is the same.

    • Puungwa, what’s your problem.UPND and MMD have given their positions concerning the frequent denial of permits by the PF Police.Just leave Dr Mumba and MMD alone. It’s different management style.

    • @Puungwa
But Nevers will have the defense that he followed the law/stipulation, which UPND is giving up.

There will come a time when PF are answerable for the misdeeds against democracy. It’s not a misdeed if you did not follow procedure.

  4. Which is better, as an adolescent you inform your parents that a friend invited you to attend some party, the venue disclosed, the agenda too (birthday party or bachelors party), the time it starts and when it ends and you go ahead before your parent’s approval or you just decide that after all i am old enough to exercise my right and you go ahead and attend the party? As for the former, you know anyway the type of parents you have, they never say yes to anything. Zambia shall be saved!

  5. I just blew a kiss to Nevers Mumba and guess what? LT blocked my comment, imwe it’s an innocent pure appreciation of his humility he has just shown, i bet he has learnt something from BYs (MHSRIP) funeral, welkom back sir Nevers Mumba.

    • Cindy,I know many pipo may not know Dr Mumba well, that’s why they may say nasty things against him.The man is humble and full of humility.Make an effort to know him and you will know what type of man he is.A lot of pipo came to know him when he came in the lime light during the Victory Crusades/Conferences and the Zambia Shall Be Saved TV Programme, and not the Nevers before these programmes.Ask the pipo who were there when he nearly died as he saught the Face of God thru Prayer and Fastinng as a young man in Luanshya.Dr Mumba knows His God,don’t be misled by these politicians without morals.

    • Bo Sipopa,
I 100% agree with you, i know deep down my heart that he is a good man and means well for our country, between you and me, if anything had to happen to HMCS….. i would rather Nevers Mumba ascended to the throne than all these bunch of noise makers seem to be screaming so loud, infact i would choose him over HH,i trust him more than Cold weather Kabimba, GBM etc, he has more stamina to rule without messing around, besides he is frank talk like me which means he can never be intimidated by anyone of them empty trumpets, otherwise, folks are easily played by these media sites which is sad, i hope Sata can go all the way so as to prepare Nevers Mumba well as the next president.

    • Why die over useless things.Sata and his PF will go,but Zambia will remain. So if you’re wise don’t play in hands of Sata. You may die and live before time the country you love.So don’t allow Sata to make you things which are not worth doing.Always do the right things.

  6. Now this is where PF becomes a problem. Cowardice. You are so scared to allow your opponents to be heerd. What message do you send by denying one party a voice? I am now getting convinced that the ruling party has plenty to hide. But 4 how long?

  7. It is not pf but police. Pf tell the police to allow these amatures to hold their rallies or demos. Pf b weary of the police. They maybe on the mission to decompaign u.However, upnd needs to b taught a lesson they will never 4get.

  8. The Public Order Act is older than Zambia, for 20 years of MMD governance they were in a better position to change it.
Chiluba and Mwanawasa preached against it whilst in opposition, but they kept it for 20 years. Public Order Act is a good tool, the former Republican vice president knows it better. Boma in boma

  9. Why do people say ‘Boma ni Boma’?

It’s such a stupid saying. It sounds like people are agreeing to anything the govt dishes out. Like they are helpless against the government.

A Que sera sera attitude, which is why you end up ruled by uneducated, corrupt, despots.
