Blades cuts Zesco’s power supply

Share

Defender Mathews Kalunga scored a solitary first half goal as resurgent Konkola Blades stunned Zesco United 1-0 in a FAZ Super Division match at Trade Grounds in Ndola on Sunday.

Kalunga beat Zesco keeper Brown Nyirenda with a long range shot after 20 minutes.

Blades deserved to take an early lead in this Week 18 tie after dictating play in the opening 15 minutes.

Later Zesco pushed for an equaliser that never came as Blades frustrated the home side by defending perfectly.

Jackson Mwanza came close to equalising on 40 minutes but his shot from the box was saved by Blades keeper William Chibale.

Blades have denied Zesco a chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.

On the other hand, Blades have increased their tally to 26 points after Week 18 matches.

Meanwhile, this was coach Beston Chambeshi’s third win in the four matches he has been incharge of Sharp Razor.

Last week, Blades forced a goalless draw in their away match against Napsa Stars in Lusaka.
