Chipata Magistrate, Twaambo Musonda, yesterday adjourned the case in which two pastors are accused of indecent assault of two sisters contrary to Section 137(1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Testifying before Magistrate Musonda was Charity Mubanga, 20, a house wife of F27, Kapata township, a sister in-law of the two sisters, Tabitha and Mambwe Banda, who alleged that pastors Benny Banda, 34, and Misheck Ngalande, 33, fondled their private parts.

Mubanga told the court that on April 24 she rang Tabitha to find out if she and her sister, Mambwe, were back from seeing pastor Ngalande where they had gone for prayers.Mubanga stated that she heard the phone ring but after some time, it went off.

She explained to the court that around 13:00 hours the same day, Tabitha and Mambwe went to her house where they explained to her that they had gone to the hill with pastors Banda and Ngalande where the two men of God fondled their private parts as they prayed for them.
Mubanga told the court that she is the one who told the girls’ mother what had transpired because Tabitha and Mambwe were afraid to do so.

She stated that the mother went to the house of Ngalande where she asked Banda and Ngalande about the incident. She explained that Banda readily accepted the matter and apologized while Ngalande refused.Asked if she knew if Banda and Ngalande had sexual relations with her sisters in-law during cross examination, Mubanga said she would not know, but there was a rumour that the two had sex with the men of God at the hill.

Defence lawyer, John Phiri, asked Mubanga if she was offered money to testify in the matter but Mubanga said she was not offered any money.
However, the defence lawyer applied for adjournment of the matter because he had flu and proposed that the case continues in the second week of September.Magistrate Musonda adjourned that matter to September 10, for continued trial.

  1. Its very unfortunate that such is done by clergymen too….God have mercy on us – EX-COMMUNCATION if charged should apply

    • Ex-comm from where? When they are the founders of their “fornication & adultery fishing basket” masquerading as a congregation? Most of these religious arrangements are questionable…

    • Trouble is, these guys could be the type that cannot be excommunicated because their “churches” begin and finish with them. They could be among the self-ordained as well as self-called pastors.

If this is the case, the government will not be persecuting the Church by closing down these guys’ businesses. They have no right to be in the business of the Lord God Almighty.

  2. Pastors of these days awe mwandi.Probably explains why i don’t go to church these days coz it is just too difficult to trust any one of them.

    • @saulosi just go back to the traditional churches where you are not asked to pay before you are prayed for, where prayers are done in local languages, wives and daughters are safe,God is still praised in the normal and not koffie olomide style ,we still haven’t received any prophet from God unlike the born agains who are lucky to have received more than 13 prophets in each church, where pastors no longer use wallets to keep pocket money, they use cases and they boast that they are blessed and yet they sell fake prayers to unsuspecting sinners.

    • @ cozmokaojr these things are happening even in the traditional churches. The only difference is that there you are not asked to pay (sowing seed) for prayers. But again, payment can be in kind too. I know of a number of cases of Roman Catholic priests who have fathered children and still serving. In one case a nun was involved but she decided to protect the identity of the man. A friend stalked a Roman Catholic nun when we were all students at UNZA and now they are husband and wife. The lady says there is a lot of hypocrisy in the church.

    • the priests are the biggest hypocrites ba guy. Trust me I have grown up in a Catholic set up but they are the givers of material things not takers, they know how to treat women, no abuse no shani…they build houses for their girlfriends. So its just sad that these pastors are living in poverty i.e Spiritually, emotionally, socially and financially…and we all know what poverty can do. Jesus said not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of God. Know your status with Jesus Christ and you will not need fake pastors laying their dirty hands on you.

  3. It would appear the two girls consented to whatever happened between them and the pastors and probably were not paid enough and decided to report. Anyway we shall wait for the facts when trial resumes.

    • Not all these so-called pastors are called of God to be Pastors.

Many get deceived because they are following the gifts these people parade instead of being attracted by purity of lives. Jesus said that we shall know true followers of Jesus by their fruit – way of life that agrees with Jesus’ own.

  4. Hizi ni siku hatari zamwisho. Kutakuwa manabii wauongo. Ng’ono izaenea duniani kote. Wachungaji watageuka kuwa wanyama wapolini. Mukiona hivi vinaanza kutendeka, juweni kwamba mwisho wa mambo unakaribia.

    • Iwe kitole mubemba ana sema kiswahili. Uko mubemba wa wapi? Banoko bobe bakiba babemba baku kipata. Wewe pumbafu sana. Kimpukutu mpukutu sesa, kimpukutu mpukutu sesa, kitenga bantu, sesa, ata mukubwa, sesa, ata mutoto, sesa, ata nantumbo sesa, seeeeesa, sesa. Kamata falanga bikala byakula! Travail wa Zambe an fwata ka bibi katoto. Mateso ya dunia. Mama nakufwa. Dunia inaisha. Kuya Zambe kuya sasa kabisa. Merci

    • @Umubemba Inkonko
I’ve always said you were not umubemba Nkonko. Which means 100% Bemba. Otherwise you would not say “Inkonko”.

  5. The Church that Christ established on the day of Pentecost is still intact.
Those who talk about Traditional Churches like cosmo.. or what church, should focus on what the Bible teaches and not on what you see on the street or hear in courts.
Don’t stop worshiping God because He has currently given us all the freedom to choose the right thing through His word and kept His future wrath for every wrong.

  6. Banging two sisters – reminds of what a certain somebody on unofficial sick leave at state house did to Bishop Mpundu’s sisters…..

  7. How old are these two sisters are did they consent? Poor reporting once again LT. I was the editor i wouldn’t even publish this story for the lack of details. For a “Christian nation” Zambia is quiet unchristian. All you have to do is look at our pastors and priest, old men picking up young girls in clubs and cheating on their wives, the lies we get told by government, the corruption that goes on daily in all sectors off public service etc. We would be better off without the label of a “Christian Nation”. Hypocrisy is a sin in itself.

  8. The ages of the two sisters are not given, were they minors? If not how can they claim indecent assault when they willingly went to the hill for “prayers?” Please report properly

    • 1. These dimwits should realize that God no longer lives in the “Hills” nor can he only hear you if you call on Him from the highest altitude.
      2. This was something with consent. Why did the “sister’s” not immediately flee or shout for help?
      3. One may conclude that these “sisters” apparently realized that they weren’t the main players in their “pastors” sexual arrangements and so turned the tables as a backlash
