Share

Zambia have tumbled 11 placed on the FIFA rankings for September released today.

The 2012 African champions 2-1 away loss to Ghana in their 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier on September 6 in Kumasi has hit them hard to see them fall from 60 to 71 in the world.

Zambia fall also sees them tumbled from number ten in Africa where they had help fort for the last two months.

Chipolopolo have now gone down to 14th in Africa, sandwiched between Lybia and Sierra Leone in 13th and 15th places respectively.

Meanwhile, the top 10 has Cote d’Ivoire at number one(19) , Ghana are second (24), Algeria (28)are third, Nigeria fourth (36) while Mali are fifth (38).

Cape Verde, who have just been docked three points and booted out of the final round 2014 playoffs qualifiers, are sixth (44).

Ironically, the team they beat using an ineligible player Tunisia last Saturday in a 2-0 away win in Rades are just below them at number six (46).

At number seven is Egypt (50) while Burkina Faso (51) and Cameroon (61) are ninth and tenth respectively.

Meanwhile, South Africa is the highest ranked Cosafa zone nation at number 12 in Africa and 68 in the World.

    • Well they play and strategically organise friendlies with proper teams unlike us who don’t see their importance, plus they have drawn and beat highly ranked teams in the past in qualifying matches and at tournaments such as AFCON 2013 where we LAMENTABLY FAILED to record a single win.

  1. and someone is busy shouting on top of his voice that we are a good team cos of the good coach that we have.
lets wait for the expiry of this one year extension of his contract. am sure we will be the 230th in the world and 120th in africa. lol!

  2. As long as we still have a coach who can only record one away win in 10+ matches and a disorganised self-serving FAZ admin….I certainly don’t see us improving. Stats don’t lie!!

  3. That’s the problem with Zambians, talking too much after the games, we go silent. Let Renard Go, we need to start building a proper team with a strategy to Win 2015 AFCON. Kalusha should also Go. He adds no value to FAZ. We need new people in the Institution. Kambwili also Out what do you Expect with Such a Fat Minister of Sports. The Boy is Overweight for his age. Is SAT Blind?? Kambwili cannot even kick a ball or Run. He would have a heart Attack. As long as these three musketeers are Involved with Football. Zambia will see no light.

    • and if chipolopolo is sandwiched betwee libya and searra leone, who are ranked 14th and 15th respectively, then chipolopolo are 14.5th in africa.
      according to LT.

  4. It is time those managing the team to pack and go. As stats suggest, they have failed (Would you believe it that Chipolopolo is now “sandwiched between Lybia and Sierra Leone”!). WE need a new couch and a new FAZ executive to start afresh. Please do not waste taxpayers’ money on football again unless and until there is a real change FAZ.

  5. Too many armchair critics; Renard has given Zambia respectability in World football circles. You can’t blame the haphazard preparations on the coach. His record speaks for itself (AFCON/Cosafa). We’re back to the point in Zambian soccer where we can expect good results against the so called giants in Africa. So please FAZ, ignore the chants to fire the coach and extend his contract.

  6. jayjay, how come england which is more useless than zambia is ranked above zambia. The equivalent of what england beats in europe are zanzibar, swanziland.
We shall bounce back, never mind the stolen victory in kamasi not kumasi anymore. How can a city be renovating its airport prior to a big football match? I didnt buy that rubbish, even the damage control put up by that sololi ghanaian high commissioner who is only here to be chopped by zambian men, wasnt convising.

    • This is the problem with Zambians. You fail to see your shortcomings. How can you improve with this sort of mentality? Zambians, use your minds to think objectively and stop the blame games. Unless you start taking responsibility for your actions and inactions and start doing things right you will continue to sink. I can bet you on this.

  7. Kalu is game but if Rena wants to he may leave while his sun still shines.zambia should do something different this time.lets keep up the spirit.

  8. Ahh ati Zambia!!!!!! winnig the 2012 Afcon was just a fluke of nature…. come on Zambia lts time to improve if not i will channel the resources to wrestling….

  9. Continue hero-worshipping Kalusha and Renard. I’m sure FIFA have noticed that. I keep saying it that the low level of IQ in Zambia is very worrying, it is so common, especially in some regions. Boneti prepared the national team for AFCON 2012; out of selfishness, Kalusha fired him and brought in Renard who had just been fired by Angola for non-performance. Kalusha’s hero-worshipers, mainly his tribal-army, shouted us down for criticising the decison to employ Renard. When we won AFCON-2012 with Boneti’s team, Kalusha’s tribal-army descended on us, laughing at us. BUT NOW, all of the skills that Boneti left in the team have faded, and the team is tumbling down. Renard is a bum and Kalusha, who has the IQ of a 3-year old, is the bum-employer. Good luck Zambia!

    • Granted, the administration of soccer in Zambia leaves much to be desired, but you can’t blame the coach for the lack of friendlies or disorganization in FAZ. Despite the shortcomings of FAZ, the coach was able to win Cosafa and AFCON. These achievements opened the door to secure the Brazil friendly. Renard’s contract needs to be extended. By the way, stop insulting Zambian IQ levels; you sound more like a colonialist.

  10. Zambia’s loss does not reflect such drop. What is this all about ? FIFA is as bad a colonial masters at its best. I have seen country in Europe hammered 8 goals but still better placed than African countries. So who analyse the performance and rank each country fairly ? FIFA in its current form is purely a house built on illusion, inferior complex and impartiality. Zambia should not feel that she is bad she needs to continue playing as usual. Even zambia was to win World Cup no way the first sport will be given period
