Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba was Friday morning forced to cancel an eagerly anticipated news conference after intelligence reports showed that the GBM group had planned to attack the event.
Mr. Kabimba who is also PF Secretary General was set to date the local media at the Ministry of Justice Headquarters in Ridgeway but canceled the conference with only an hour to go.
Mr. Kabimba’s media coordinator Chanda Mfula said the conference could not go ahead due to a serious situation in Mr Kabimba’s family which needs his total attention.
“The media briefing that was scheduled to be addressed by the Patriotic Front Secretary General and Minister of Justice Hon. Wynter M. Kabimba, SC, ODS, MP has been postponed to a date to be announced later. This is due to a serious family situation that has arisen and which requires Hon. Kabimba’s total attention. Thank you and apologies,” Mr Mfula posted on his Facebook page.
But intelligence sources have revealed that Mr Kabimba cancelled the conference because he feared for his life and that of the Journalists present.
“What happened was that Wynter was geared to go ahead but only changed his mind after we shared with him what we picked up. The GBM camp had a meeting last night and planned to attack Wynter and beat up the Journalists at the meeting. It was going to be embarrassing for the SG and he quickly cancelled the briefing,” the sources said.
A check at the Ministry of Justice found heavily armed police officers keeping vigil at the Ministry.
And some information obtained from highly placed PF sources indicate that Mr. Kabimba was due to announce that he was stepping down from the position of party Secretary General.
The sources said President Michael Sata had personally asked Mr. Kabimba to step down as a compromise position following weeks of infighting in the PF.

@Ex-PF, I come from Chingola and specifically Nchanga constituency where the entire family resides. It is true Simuusa has failed the people of Nchanga. Nothing has been done, many people were of the thinking that he will lobby government to bring development to the area since he is a minister but alas, even kabompo road which was started last year has overlapsed and he is busy watching the contractor because he has some shares!! Simuusa should not be re-adopted!! He is a total failure.
Simple question: “Is it the role of a minister to lobby for development in his constituence from the government?” Shouldn’t development be spread out based on policy and needs? What happens to those constituencies that never have their MP elevated to ministerial position?

Simuusa is a cabinet minister, thus he has influence, in short he is a decision maker. Yes development has to spread to all parts of the country but in cases where an MP is a minister is a plus. A ministerial position comes with a lot of advantages, Simuusa should have jumped on those and give the people of Nchanga constituency hope that he is a better leader. This also applies to his chingola counterpart Joseph Katema who have also failed the people that side. I wonder when was the last time he went there. These MPs should not be re-adopted, we need performing MPs. Another non-performing PF MP is Fackson Shamenda of Ndola Central. He is an absolute failure as well. HEMCS needs to look at these 3 MPs and make a sober decision.
I hope this is true…..once Wynther is out of the way, Masebo out of the way, Mmembe out of the way and Nchito out of the way…..then maybe I can consider becoming PF. This is a bad sign for PF and I hope the voters will not lose the confidence and trust. The divisions are so explicit that one wonders why. I thought PF had structures in place to deal with these internal matters. Probably, the internal affairs involve other external stakeholders and hence the manner in which some of the leaders are behaving. Good luck to PF and to the opposition for 2016 elections.

Surely Kabimba might be a noise maker but he can reason and articulate issue more than GBM.

Whatever cadres are saying now, the majority of Zambians who are not even PF members will hold everyone accountable at the end. In the end, people are brought before the courts and then we start hearing about people having heart-attacks. From my records, GBM has stolen more than Kabimba and Fred put together and his days will come. There is no need to fight for power to this extent as if you are fighting over personal property. I love all the mayhem going on with the PF. They remind me of a bunch of scavengers fighting over a carcass. A few months ago Wynter got so big for his boots and his ego was at its peak. Now it sounds like he is a scared little mouse running away from the very people who once voted for him, headed by jumbo. How nice to see the wind change direction. Hope the drama continues, the rat pack indeed!!!
