Republican President Michael Sata has broken his silence on the endorsement debate that has divided the ruling party by telling Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba to stop endorsing him.

Speaking before a joint Cabinet and PF Central committee meeting at State house this morning, President Sata said anyone in the Patriotic Front is free to aspire for the presidency.

The Head of State has since challenged those harboring presidential ambitions to declare their intentions rather than attacking each other in the public.

Mr Sata has also cautioned Cabinet Ministers not to keep quiet but respond to all allegations from the opposition political parties against government.

President Sata expressed disappointed that Cabinet Ministers have been quiet despite all the noise coming from the opposition.

And President Sata has cautioned United Party for National Development (UPND)leader Hakainde Hichilema to stop engaging in activities intended to frustrate production in the mining sector.

Mr Sata said government is fully aware and prepared to thwart the planned UPND illegal activities in the two named mining towns on the copperbelt.

He has warned that government will not take kindly to such desperate and cheap attempts by the UPND under the guise of political recruitment and party mobilization.

    • Leadership and decisiveness go hand in hand, and it makes me wonder why it took the president so long to publicly express his position on the matter. Anyhow, let’s hope these guys can START working NOW!

    • We did not need to know or hear this. That it escalated to this level is due to poor leadership. This positiopn should have been clearly stated in both cabinet and the PF central committe a long time ago – if that was Sata’s position all along anyway – unless he has just embraced this position now.

    • I knew that there is no way SATA can let go of Kabimba with all the secrets he has about his dubious activities. For your own information, they stole government money to buy them selves the property empire the own today. SATA as minister of local government in MMD authorised the loot to released while Kabimba as Lusaka town clerk authorised government houses to be sold off to them selves and few others to cover up the deals. He is linked to Penza , chiluba and Paul Tembo’s deaths. Penza and Paul Tembo tried to stop the looting but…… This is what forms the blood bond between the two. The only way to get rid of Kabimba is to squeeze life out of him. But then this would prove futile because even his cartel friends know the secrets by now.

      In the end (K N M M) Cartel – 1 GBM thugs…

    • Continued.

That is what happened to that K2,000,000,000 that stalled the Merzaf flats project. The two syphoned the loot and used it to build their property empires across the country.

    • GBM & Me tuli baume we really transformed that Kabimba, have you seen how he has lost weight in last 2 weeks?
Anyway, I never-ever endorsed SATA, and I can’t never. And your Sata said those who aspiring like me, has to come in open, not hiding like Kabimba & his.
GBM too, if he has dreams to be president its open now, no endorsing Sata, he will not stand, GBM here I am endorse me man!!

    • Long Overdue, was it deliberate or the President was confused?? Not sure which side to take? So it looks like Loud Kabimba has scored some points. Anyhow well done Mr. President, you have cleared the matter, let Presidential Campaign Trail start in PF, between GBM & Wynter, one will go down??.

    • @nostradamus
you have very “bad saliva“ you see!! now bad things are happening to Sata!!

But also Sata dont listen to advice… why did he refuse to go the funeral of the cardial prefering to go for campaigns?? thats why bad things are happening now

  1. That´s not enough. what we want is him to address the nation on a number of other serious issues that are in public domain not only these intra-party dissonances.

  2. What took the president so long?! At least, he has finally spoken and I hope he can allow Wynter and Miles to campaign fairly without intimidation. A lot of times, politicians say one thing and do another totally different thing. Let’s wait and see for the real PF leaders to challenge him instead of these bootlickers who want him to stay for the sake of their corrupt deals.

  3. The president has spoken but the message lacks the strength and command expected. The message has no conviction to settle the dust.

    • MCS has groomed Kabimba overtime and hand picked him as SG. It is difficult for him to just dump him like that. Today, is probably a victory day for the Kabimba camp seeing that the other guys expected MCS to grant their wish to expel him from the party.

  4. I hv no doubt the President was behind the pipo that kept singing the endorsement song. GBM didt just dream one morning to create that heat. The operation was well funded and I’m very disappointed that this is the caliber of individuals occupying our sensitive offices of mother Zambia. I will speak loudly come 2016 elections. Enough is enough

  5. The president has indirectly pronounced that he shall not stand by 2016. There is no way members within can start indorsing themselves today which is dividing the party. Nothing to worry about but just sell your names to carders before the conversion for 2016.

  6. Why should the president cowardly cower behind “a joint Cabinet and PF Central committee meeting”, you are a head of state for Christ-sake’s why not call a press conference at State House and engage the media? State House is not PF secretariat.

    • What difference would it make speaking at press conference ……are the words Sata used going to be different or may be he would speak in Greek? You guys just rant, rant every time .

    • My worrier. I thought Cabinet is govt and you combine with central committee. Thus very wrong. So the central committee can be more powerful that cabinet, no wonder cadres can even beat each other at state house

  7. Yes, thats good news. Now let GBM and Winter challenge Sata for presidency. Wy should people fight for nothing ? Let who ever has presidential intersessions challenge Sata period. Thats democracy.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

    • “intersession”??
And if Zambia is your mother, would you call Sata has your Father of the nation? Then your home is in a chaos..
GBM goes to say this is “our” father, and Sata says no no no GBM stop endorsing me, anyone can just be…
      Nshaufwapo. Ine nshakakane..

  8. I THINK SATA IS WISE. SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO KEEP QUIET AND LET THE PEOPLE TALK-THEMSELVES-OUT-OF-THE-GAME. SOME OF US USED TO LOOK AT GBM AS A MAN WHO HAS WISDOM BECAUSE WE DID NOT KNOW HIM. NOW WE HAVE KNOWN HIM VERY WELL. HE IS THE ONE BRINGING DIVISIONS IN THE PARTY. KABIMBA IS EQUALLY EXPOSING HIMSELF. I THINK PF CAN BE A GOOD PARTY WITHOUT THESE TWO.

    • @ Chisenga – spot on. Anybody who followed PF in opposition throughout and saw how our president sacrificed for the party and until he won the elections, should be very concerned to see two camps wanting to sacrifice the party for selfish ends. I’m really glad the President has cracked his whip – next time it will land on somebody if they don’t behave. His few words, as reported, were very high-quality, befitting of a leader.

  9. Zambia is a young democracy.Expecting anyone to challenge Sata within PF is laughable. The focus within PF must be development of the nation.

  10. The cartel seems to have triumphed over GBM. Now GBM must watch his moves, other wise he will be reduced to nothing. With all the corruption he is involved in at the MOD coupled with lack of higher education to read between the lines, he is vulnerable and might even be prosecuted by the cartel for corruption. My advice to GBM is ,he should either jump out of the PF boat now and expose the corruption of others or stay put and rally behind the cartel until such time when cartel is weakened by the citizenry ‘s mood.

  11. For me, what makes me happy today is that the President has come out and so PRESIDENT MICHAEL SATA is the real winner here. He sacrificed a lot of funds and family-time and his own health while in opposition to let his party go down the drain like it was beginning to. Let these Ministers go to work and fight the opposition instead, like the president was saying. The PF, despite very chaotic implementation style, has very good policies for Zambia which might look bad in the short-term but actually incredibly good for the long-term health of our economy. PF has implemented the most drastic economic policies since Chiluba’s time in the early 1990s. It required a brave president like Sata to enact them. Good luck to PF. Let’s focus on development now.

    • “He sacrificed a lot of funds and family-time and his own health while in opposition to let his party go down the drain like it was beginning to.”
I have a problem with the words HIS PARTY in this statement. The President has put it clearly that anyone is free to contest for presidency in the party, so its not his party. We need to get rid of this “Party ownership” mentality and move forward with development.

  12. It would not be wise to challenge Sata at anytime over the next 10 years. They should let him finish his full term. Anybody who will try to challenge him, that will be the end of his/her political career. I also doubt that anybody in PF today can win national elections without Sata’s blessing – and you don’t get Sata’s blessings by challenging him. They should just let him rule his full 10 year term and then they can fight each other wheh he leaves. It is only Sata who can fight the opposition in 2016, and even now we all know it won’t be easy for PF in 2016 – BUT with Sata they can easily win again. For some of us businessmen who want long-term stability, it is better for Sata to rule for the full 10 years, because that allows to plan – Rather than changing every 5 years!

    • For some of us businessmen who want long-term stability, it is better for Sata to rule for the full 10 years, because that allows to plan – Rather than changing every 5 years!

This statement suggests some sort of corrupt activities.

    • @ SUNRISE — LoL! I don’t get involved in corruption, unless it is accidental involvement or unintended whereby I only come to realise AFTER the corrupt activity has ended! I’m very allergic to corruption, I even carry my own medicine around just in case the allergy attacks.

  13. The President did not stop the endorsement campaign. Which radio were listening to! He said he has to be endorsed first before people can go around endorsing him. GBM will endorse him. That was an intelligent move by President.

  14. The President did not stop the endorsement campaign. Which radio were listening to! He said he has to be endorsed first before people can go around endorsing him. GBM will endorse him. That was an intelligent move by the President.

  15. I AM A CHRISTIAN.

THE BEST WAY TO ENTICE MY MUSLIM BROTHER TO CHRISTIANITY IS NOT BY

SIMPLY ENDORSING CHRIST AS THE SON OF GOD, BUT BY ENUMERATING THE

MANY THINGS WHICH JESUS IS DONE AND CONTINUES TO DO IN MY LIFE. PF IS

DONE AND CONTINUES TO DO THINGS WHICH WHERE UNIMAGINABLE SINCE KK

    LEFT.

    1. CARRIAGE WAYS ARE ON THE CARDS.

    2. TOLL GATES ARE ON THE CARDS.

    3. NEW CLINICS ARE BEING BUILT.

    4. CITY/TOWNSHIP ROADS ARE BEING UPGRADED.

    Etc.

THIS IS A RECORD TO BOAST ABOUT WHEN SELLING THE PARTY.

    • PF has nothing to boast about. the projects have MMD labels on them. Not that it is bad to complete your predecessor’s projects. just that you can’t boast about them.

  16. (1) Well done Mr. President. Iam such a happy person today that you have at least spoken your mind.

    (2) Although I’m not bemba, I want to be sincere about people calling your cabinet tribe. You have tried to recruit ministers from the other tribe opposition parties and they have fired from their parties for accepting your appointments.

    (3) So you are left with no option but to recruit those that are willing to work with you. I find it unafair to call your cabinet tribe when other tribes from other parties are refusing appointments.

    (4) Finally, I like your policies and the rate of development was coming up well except when GBM started these confusions. Can we now go back to work and fininsh the road projects.

    (4) Please fire ministers that will not comply. We will support…

  17. You are vey right my dear. I do not know what wrong Kabimba did except for being brave. In fact GBM distracted this guy from all good things he was doing for the party.
Now what happens to Chikwelete thugs and the team.

We do not work like that. Taking over office in a savage manner. Very un fair mwandi.

  18. Delayed reaction. His brain only registered the endorsement thing after processing the report that was given to him a month back, Thats what dementia does. He is POSITIVE he was only told yesterday.

  19. GBM’s well-fed dogs trying to do their thing, albeit eluded by their winter prey and the summer heat is about to escalate. One thing is sure, GBM is after Kabimba’s neck and his head on a platter. Most certain also is the fact that Sata is not a Herod, nor is Kabimba a zombie.

  20. Maybe Sata thought the whole nation would overwhelmingly back the endorsement. Seeing only a few riffraffs have supported the idea is probably what has forced this response out of him. Just my thoughts!

    • Yep. I agree with you 100%. Sata thought he was a very popular fellow. Now it has dawned on him that its only thugs and other riffraff’s endorsing him and he is not very impressed. remember the third- term campaign???Does it sound familiar. FTJ allowed that debate to gauge the people feelings. Looks like Zambians are not about to compromise their future AND DESTINEY to these PATHETIC FAILURES.

  21. ‘joint Cabinet and PF Central committee meeting’? We should be alarmed at this statement. Zambia is not a one-party state and Sata should learn to separate the state from the party. Those who are not members of PF are not interested in their central committee meeting but have an interest in the cabinet meeting. Please Mr. President this is not the KK’s UNIP era – it’s time you moved on and understood that this is a multi-party system.

    • Now imagine we had some opposition MPs serving in Cabinet!! It explains why it is not just on to appoint ministers from opposition parties. That’s why they are all deputy ministers.

  22. Pipo like Jay,jay must learn 2 b quite sometimes instead of yapping.Wat kind of reasoning is that by oders ,’After 0 it is mmd dat left de pjcts pf is implementing’.What miopic thinking is this? lf that is the case then pf must be recommended.

  23. Mmd doesn’t own dose pjcts they left so is Unip. Even the massive pjcts pf has embarked on will never b owned by the party but by the nation as a whole. Mmd did dat tho not as much as we wanted coz they were obliged. Bravo pf! God bless u and H.E.

  24. Just where are those pf youth from? l smell a rat. However,Halting these endorsements is a good move for the sake of devolopment.

  25. should have been sorted quietly and administratively ,Sata should have just banned presidential succession to enhance loyalty and start working for the nation.
