Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba says he has no regrets over his endorsement of President Michael Sata as the sole candidate for the PF in the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Mwamba who is the architect of the Sata endorsement crusade said he has no regrets over his endorsement of President Sata.

This follows President Sata’s move to call for an end to the endorsement drama and further challenged those wishing to challenge him to come out.

But Mr Mwamba said the President Sata’s statement does not take away anything from their endorsements.

[pullquote]“As you are all aware, His Excellency President Michael Chilufya Sata has today, 16th September 2013, challenged all those with Presidential ambitions to come out in the open. He further directed that sole candidacy endorsements should come to an end,” Mr. Mwamba said.[/pullquote]

“As you are all aware, His Excellency President Michael Chilufya Sata has today, 16th September 2013, challenged all those with Presidential ambitions to come out in the open. He further directed that sole candidacy endorsements should come to an end,” Mr. Mwamba said.

He added, “Nothing has happened today to water-down the expressed confidence bestowed on the President by PF members. “

Mr. Mwamba said his vote of confidence in President Sata remains solid and unchanged.

“My vote of confidence in the President remains solid and unchanged because he has not asked us to take away the endorsements we expressed. I have no regrets that I endorsed President Sata in the first place,” he said.

The Defence Minister said, “Together with others, we democratically expressed our confidence in President Sata’s leadership and we are proud of the love members have for President Sata.”

He has since urged all PF members across the country to remain solidly behind President Sata in order for the PF Government to deliver on the election manifesto to the people of Zambia.

Yesterday, president Michael Sata has called for a stop to political squabbles in the Patriotic Front (PF) over his candidature for the 2016 general elections and urged members to feel free to aspire for the party presidency.

Mr Sata also threatened that he would be forced to dissolve Parliament and call for early elections, if his Cabinet failed to perform.

Mr Sata said he was not the sole candidate for the PF. He said any party member was free to express their desire to lead the party without being stopped as doing so would plunge the party into dictatorship.

[pullquote]“And in PF, Honourable Mwamba, we don’t have sole candidates. The freedom in PF is such that everybody should come out in the open and start aspiring, because once you start being sole candidate, then you are going to be drifting back into dictatorship. Let all those who want to aspire come out in the open,” he said.[/pullquote]

“Unless you come out and propose me, nobody can come and say you are endorsing me. If you understand English, you can only do so when someone has proposed me but nobody has proposed me, so how do you endorse me?

“And in PF, Honourable Mwamba, we don’t have sole candidates. The freedom in PF is such that everybody should come out in the open and start aspiring, because once you start being sole candidate, then you are going to be drifting back into dictatorship. Let all those who want to aspire come out in the open,” he said.

Mr Sata said he was not in a hurry to declare himself because he was already at the helm of leadership. He said his name had not been proposed and therefore he could not be floated as the sole candidate for the 2016 general elections.

He also urged party leaders to respond to the media whenever contacted so that the country was informed about developmental programmes, among others.

[pullquote]“MCC and Cabinet Ministers, before we start our meeting, I want to challenge you. Why are you not talking? Why are you so quiet? Because if you think you are not fit to be what you are let me know so that I can dissolve Parliament and we go for a general election. Mr Kabimba is being attacked, you are not replying.[/pullquote]

“The press wants information, you should respond to them, don’t starve them, you are starving them by being quiet,” he said.

He said the PF leadership should not remain mute when the party was being attacked by some opposition leaders.

“MCC and Cabinet Ministers, before we start our meeting, I want to challenge you. Why are you not talking? Why are you so quiet? Because if you think you are not fit to be what you are let me know so that I can dissolve Parliament and we go for a general election. Mr Kabimba is being attacked, you are not replying.

“Mr Hakainde Hichilema today is saying this Cabinet is bloated again he says this Cabinet is tribal, since when did Mr Simuusa become Bemba or Mr Chenda or Ms Masebo or Mr Kabimba. You are being pounded left, right and centre and you are not replying. Whom do you think is going to answer for you? You should start talking,” he said.

He said being silent meant that people would believe in hearsay hence it was important for the party leadership as well as Cabinet ministers to respond.

“Silence means consent and if you continue being quiet, people will listen to anything that is said,” he said.

He said Mr Hichilema was misleading the nation through allegations that the PF had a bloated Cabinet.

“Mr Hichilema doesn’t even understand what the word bloated means, how can he say Cabinet is bloated, so start talking, all of you,” he said.

    • “And in PF, Honourable Mwamba, we don’t have sole candidates. The freedom in PF is such that everybody should come out in the open and start aspiring, because once you start being sole candidate, then you are going to be drifting back into dictatorship. Let all those who want to aspire come out in the open,” Whoever said Sata is a dictator must have some issues. Ironic how some people wants to paint a bad picture about him. Don`t put words in peoples mouths.

    • It seems the HH’s pounding is doing something. It has been straight jabs so far but soon he will leash a ‘fatal’ uppercut. Halaisa, Haleisa

    • If President Sata wants confusion in the Nation, let all his Ministers,MCCs and other party functionaries start individually replying to comments made by opposition and other interest groups.Sata has a Government spokesperson and party spokesperson. These are the only two individuals who should be tasked to be vigilant and respond to comments made by non PF members whenever it is necessary. Not all comments deserve a reply. If I had to make a suggestion,I would place Given Lubinda as government spokesperson and like it or not,Winter Kabimba is suitable as Party spokesperson.

    • Certain things are easier said. I can bet my house on the fact that if anyone showed his ambitions, the dogs of war, the cadres would be unleashed on him. These are cosmetic statements. His health will be the determinant on whether he stands or not. We be observing as we approach 2016, this matter is not closed.

    • The pronouncement by SATA that the endorsement drama should come to an end has shown that GBM is indeed Uneducated cada, just like the call boyz he is sponsoring to bring unlawlessness in the country. This GBM should be told that we are no longer in UNIP days. This is mordern democracy. Let SATA tell him off and This GBM is not a true PF member, he was chased from MMD. We all know his hidden agenda. He can not be president, he is too dull. Let him concetate on his businesses which he acquired as a fake supplyer in Government. He should know that once PF is out he will account for the plunder at Ministry of Defence. Days are Numbered. My advice to him is to run will he still has the opportunity.

  1. GBM is a true friend of bwana Sata….he’s like a condom. He’ll stick as close to Sata protecting him but he forgets that even a condom needs changing when the indefensible stuff gushes out.

  2. Well said Mr President .The parliament is a political platform where any any one can speak all sort of lies, let them voice out and tel the Nation the Truth. Failure to do so just fire them and pick us we want those jobs as well. Start with the white man then next Kabimba letter GBM that boxer. I am happy u have shut his mouth by campaigning against u . He is a biog pretender.

  3. Personally, I think the president was advising himself really. For years we in MMD and even General Miyanda and many others has been calling on the President to talk, we have been calling on him to hold a press conference and address several issues and what has been his stance? TO KEEP QUIET and ignore us.

So why is he surprised that his cabinet is also quite and not talking? Why is he surprised that the public is starved of information?

The president needs to remove the log in his eye before he points one in his cabinet. Even his party knows he does not Speak.

Zambians did not go to the polls to put a King Cobra snake in a Zoo called State House. Let the president come out and talk to us and answer our questions.

    • bloated MMD cadre…forget it! in 20 yrs u did much plunder to zambia…I vomit to here or see someone calling himself or herself MMD cadre…further comment reserved.

    • You should be the last person to comment on this issue. Zambians will never forget the damaged MMD did in its 20yrs of rule. We had very much trusted in MMD but wat we got at the end of the day was something very regreatable.
MMD is not even suppose to exist!!! Waumfwaa iwe chief Boot fimo…fimo…

    • Let the cat out of the bag even by force…Bemba adage says “abakali tabalanda landa bacitafye ifipapo,” real men do not talk too much but act effectively. I abhor deleberate press conferences and prefer press releases. The President should talk only when it is very necessary, like the way he has spoken once and solved the endorsement mess. We are in democracy where we do not even need the President to tell us who should replace him after his retirement, leave that to the electorate and individuals to freely vie to be elected future presidents if only they can manage to win a nation mandate. Bravo Mr. President, continue working queitly while developing the nation effectively. I am sure at the end of your term even political myopics will see the development you will leave as your…

    • If u failed to advise yo RB…who re u to advise Sata?…the biggest problem with people of yo kind is that even where someone does good u still create falsehood…holding a press conference is not solving a problem..action is what u shud talk about…press conferences in past governments were numerous yet they never produced anything gud apart from giving empty rhetorics they failed to implement…if u ve any gud ideas sale them out to those in authority…do u luk at the cost implecations of holding press conferences at that level?talking is not the answer to problems left by MMD we need to take action..thats all

    • Ironic how this loser called MMD chief bootlicker wants to sound wise today. You failed to advise your own RB and today you wanna play wise man ? Amano ububi iwe kamudala.

    • How much was mealie meal under RB and how much is it now? Where there any shortages of ARVs when RB was president? What was the exchange rate between the Kwacha and the Dollar under RB? Did RB make press conferences and was his cabinet full to the brim with people from Eastern province?

    • Well articulated MMD Chief Bootlicker only a useless P F blogger like musangu muzaza wont be able to comprehend the facts , he needs to be reminded that this isnt about the MMD period but the current president has never addressed a nation only his CABINET or Central Committe as per yesterday on party internal wrangles not country issues…

    • @MMD Chief Bootlicker?? Body language says a lot when in an Executive Meeting, looking at the way these PF leaders are seated?? We have serious problems. You can tell cobra is in control and no one in their positions would contribute or challenge the president. They don’t seem attentive but already in a submissive position accept whatever SATA vomits. No young leaders, they all look Old and tired. Young Zambians, we have to do something because these guys messing up our country will not live for long, they are old and nature has it that they will have to die. Who will suffer?? “They Young Zambians” We need Modern leadership than this Nonsense.

    • Dre or whtaever u call yourself, Musangu Muzaza is a big fish than you its not about addressing the nation its about solving a problem. For you to measure the success of it has to be compared to MMD..I know Musangu Muzaza to the borne….very handsome and sensible guy!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Gas Bellied Man (GBM) is not normal, what leadership qualities has he seen in sata that can stir his confidence to start endorsing total failures for continuity? he is a disgrace as it is a case with the one he is endorsing

    • Well what GBM has seen is what the people of Zambia saw in 2011 so surely you can’t say he has nothing to say. He is a Leader who posess immense qualities

    • We expected the president to talk about the high price of mealie meal, fuel, transport fares, and explain why there are more than 70 ministers and why the huge budget overrun oh, and the failed constitution making process and bye elections. These are the things that matter to the zambian people than the useless endorsements

  5. Anyone who belongs to any party but does not support his party’s leader cannot be good in that party. Support the incumbent leader in your party, even blindly, yes even blindly sometimes, it helps for unity in your party. If not, ten quit, resign, leave them. You are in power already and you want to mess up your own chances of ruling a nation, crazy. Consolidate your grip of the privilage you have or that chance slips with first term. Other parties are eagerly waiting and they want you to fail so that they take charge. I do not think anyone of you in PF is as popular nationally as Sata. Think twice, support your party leader and luckly for you members he is head of state.

  6. Morning yal !!!!!!!!

Good ! A house divided within itself cannot stand.Lets maintain the brotherhood under the kingship of king cobra.Aluta continua !!!!!

    • ba saulosi your house is divided whether u like o not refuse it o not.we are just waiting for that time wen it shall crumble down very soon.mind u GBM wil not stop thos endorsement wen the seventh trumpet shall b blown its the fall Jericho my frnd.

    • @dingiswayo the great…..hahah.That moment will never come my friend.Keep on waiting. Its us who will have the last laugh. The cobra has spoken and everything is now back to normal.

    • @saulosi …..are uo telling me that sata all along dint know abt the endorsement?i wudnt be surprised to find that the old man behind closed doors started the endorsements himself by telling GBM to spearhead the campaign.we will wait and see.one thing i know very well is that the old man is very cunning and i blv GBM has felt used and he wont just sit and watch the cartel winning the battle.remember the seventh trumpet hasn’t yet been sounded.

  7. this whole big cabinet we are doomed, where is the government getting money to pay all these ministers lol,pf will start printing money

  8. Do not fooled, mr. Sata already knows what he has achieved. he conceived the idea, planned it and implemented it.
If he was against the endorsement, he would have told GBM in silence to stop the rot a long time ago. He enjoys confusion and thats when he leads better over fools.
    I CANT BUY HIS WISDOM.

  9. Sata is beyond Prayers and redemption. Will the cabinet and PF MCC also defend SATA’s past immoral activities?????

Can they also defend his numerous concubines and children outside of wedlock he has sired??????

Sata is getting Mad. Really Mad. Losing it.

  10. Masebo, Chenda, Simuusa…now they are ‘guinea pigs’, to show the World how balanced my cabinet is. Bloated tribal cabinet!

  11. sata has now turned against gbm.but what did gbm do in the last 48hrs.could it be the boasty he showed at his mother’s memorial service?or the revelations made by the zwd concerning the resignation of davis mwila which highlighted the gbm’s coruption?tendalema shanoko anyway!.

  12. Am happy that now the presidents voice has come out to challenge the GBM and the Kabimba stupid desire to become candidate for 2016.
You know if two people fight over something that is not supported they are not nomal

    • Thanks President Sata!! You have shown leadership. This GBM is trying to form his party because he has money to rent boys who have nothing to do on the street!!!!
GBM, education is importatnt because it helps you to start thinking straight…..Your thinking is “kokayi” Sata has said he does not need your fun endorsement…STOP IT!

  13. ….this statement…’sole candidate for PF for 2016 general elections..’…is confusing. Does it mean that PF wants to filled two or more candidates…?…the correct statement should be….’sole candidate for PF 2016 party convention…’…not ‘general election’ for heaven sake

  14. hahaha, the pictures above, a congregation of extreme dunderheads and clueless individuals. They gotta be breaking some sort of record. You meet like this to discuss nonsense???

    • floyd chitalu,
some characters are better left alone hallucinating.
do you really want to pick a quarrel with this dudelove?
just ignore him 100% and you wont miss anything.

  15. QUOTE OF THE DAY”You are being pounded left, right and centre and you are not replying. Whom do you think is going to answer for you? You should start talking,” he said.

  16. I personally it was rather too early for the ruling party to start discussing the 2016 presidential .candidate when they are not even half way through the first term. This is the time to discuss development and not endorsements. GBM and Winter wants to make their personal differences to become a national issue. Debate on which hospital to construct or which school or which road. Dont hide in the endorsement story, we want to see your work

  17. Mr President my vote goes for you not these ant-developers who want to bring war in the part instead of concentrate on their ministry.

  18. its not actually cabinet to speak o respond to the media its sata we need to address the nation thru a press conference not inciting cabinet and the central committee and by the way a party were every is permitted on behalf of a party is as good as dead cos every one wil tok his mind and deceive the nation even more on things they don’t know.its the duty of the govt chief spokesperson.this sata guy of yours is so naive and very illiterate he lacks etiquette.

  19. (1) GBM is dull. He has a bad timing in the way he does things. I still believe that little education can help some one articulate issues. A little night school not just money will help this man realise that in politics things don’t work like that.

    (2) In politics he should realise that he is not dealing with GBM milling or ARIZONA. He is dealing with more than 12Million Zambians most of whom are not PF members.

    (3) How can one start the endorsement now when PF is supposed to be campagning through project implementation? This man’s shallow thinking surprises me. He is really a liability to the PF.

    (4) Even after the president tell him to shut up he still continues to say that he doesn’t regret. Surely didn’t he get a little sense out of what the President said.

  20. So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. #Like water, taking the line of least resistance.Sata knows what he is doing, this has happened to him before during the time of FTJ.
    Watch this space

  21. Please do not use your real e-mail address here, you will soon be contacted if you do so.i was e-mailed by someone .good day

    • details Sir if you may, by whom exactly management or some blogger, hacker, who? What did they want, were you being threatened? But then again how do you use your protected Email address?

    • I wouldn’t be surprised by this revelation…….just from the topics and headlines…one can easily tell who runs LT or which party they sympathize

  22. Bloated tribal cabinet that can’t even fit around a table. Those are the same dimwits who came up with that horrible stadium name!

  23. Tired of gbm let him attend a little lesson kuli shibukeni then you he will realise that money is not everything but knowledge is power which classifies someone dignity and maturity.

    • It is clear indication that MCS is not interested in the current endorsement bickering but gbm can not read between the lines ati nabamusanuka because he is dull and rich for nothing.

  24. Damn!
No matter how wrong fat Albert might have been, am actually disappointed that HMSCs has not gone ahead to fire Weather boy, i just want to see some revenge for the GL, am i taking things too personal?
Oh wait…. behind closed doors he must have spoken to Fat Albert in Bemba outlining how they should play it so that everyone believe they aint tribal. He obviously has another plan to take this Winter Boy out without people smelling the stunk, for me it doesnt matter, i see every thing Black and White, when you go forward i dont want to see you heading backwards saying it was a mistake, forward means just that. Damn…. how i wish he can be on his way already sha!

  25. Like MMD Chief Bootlicker said, Mr. Sata has failed to address the nation on several pressing issues. No press conference, no state of the nation address, nothing. This, to me, is like Mr. Sata giving us Zambians Dora’s middle finger. He blames his ministers for not talking when they are simply following his example. Mr. Sata, I think you have betrayed the nation by failing to provide the leadership people expected of you. You seem to enjoy the confusion now reigning in the nation with your ministers at each other’s fat throats. You have kept the nation in a state of chronic anxiety by not shedding light on what’s going on. You have acted rather late, but you can make us happy again by carrying out your threats to dissolve parliament and start afresh.

    • Surely ba MCS no press conference and national address since you occupied plot 1 hahhahahahah bwana can you change and discipline the summer boy and gbm.Wake up man this is not the cobra we knew may be it has swallowed u-bags so it can no longer bite.

  26. Kabimba is the only real enemy PF have .Remove him from the scene, and the root cause of the problem will be over.Sata should be loving this game, but I think it will cost him.

  27. GBM was trying to bring back the one party participatory ‘democracy’ and declare Sata as the Life President. We were lied to during the KK regime, how can democracy thrive on a one party theme without any challenge?
The damage in PF has already been done. Everything else after this is just damage limitation with a limp march all the way to 2016 if not earlier. Sata has done a good thing by ticking off GBM. The Gigantic Bag of Maize does not own Zambia. I think he (GBM) should resign his position for peddling dictatorial programmes in one of Africa’s maturing democracies. Kabimba has got class which GBM cannot buy or match with all his perceived dollars! Kabimba is not ass licking the same cannot be said for GBM. Kabimba challenged Sata to fire him. That is a man with BALLS.

  28. SATA fears KABIMBA for some reasons he knows a lot about him, First Lady Dr. KASEBA support Kabimba bcoz of illegal things KABIMBA has pushed for her office maybe u hv forgeten it was KABIMBA who pushed the approval 1.5billion for First Lady office KABIMBA defended this illegality up to Parliament so she just told SATA to protect from cadres, bvut the fact is that SATA has not solved problems in PF by protecting KABIMBA and his group bcoz that team is busy scheming for BANTU BOTATWE President in PF and that is KABIMBA being floated and they determined to take over from BEMBA lead leadership come 2016 GBM is aware of this that is why he endorsing President SATA, lets just wait and see were it is going.

  29. People who understand politics or have an inkling of how best to do things could see flaws in what GBM was trying to do. Absolute power corrupts! GBM has the keys to the rotting Zambian armoury and Sata has the hand on the trigger. Had GBM got his way, then power would have been shared between the Key holder to the Army and the Commander in Chief and everyone else subordinated. Credit goes to Sata though he seems tamed and non-poisonous for standing up. Does GBM really know what his job entails? the SG should be the one at the helm of organising part matters. They lack the likes of VJ the MMD chief party spinner in PF. Every party has to have a spinner who fits the bill not GBM as we are seeing in PF. He ain’t suitable and hasn’t got the image and candour. Embrace Kabimba – free advice…

  30. So this is the cabinet that came up with the Gabon heroes disaster stadium nonsense? And people think they will see any meaningful development from this bunch of retarded Bemba geriatrics?

  31. Why king cobra every time open his mounth is HH,HH,HH So it shows that HH is agreat man,HH prezida 2016 are welcome sir.

  32. So does this mean that the debate should now be about proposing? GBM has exhibited traits of dictatorship, he should never be given the reins of power because he will only be wamuyaya syndrome

  33. Exactly my point Mwewa Max. It is very embarrassing for the government to have warring and antagonistic factions on a non entity issue of endorsement. GBM is chief kaponya whilst Kabimba can regurgitate the constitution even in his sleep. The endorsement programme was wrong and ill-conceived. We had globally exposed bloggers here supporting this rubbish – were are you now? This is the problem with our country – the educated are easily swayed without considering facts on the table. look, you can make right from wrong – end of! GBM was WRONG to start this illegal and nonsensical campaign, endorsement, attention seeking – call it what you may with only 1yr 11months into PF’s 5 year tenure. Kabimba new that was wrong and so did Sata. When is GBM handing in his resignation letter?

  34. One wonders why it took the President this long to stop the foolish behaviour of his Ministers and cadres. He is a very complicated man to understand

    • He’s got dementia so most of the time his mind is in cuckoo cuckoo land. The periods when he is a bit sane are far and apart, no joke.

  35. 73 Ministers is not actually bloated it is Embalmed. It is lean. PF sees things differently. To them 90 days mean something. More money in the pocket. Public order act only applies to opposition. Chief injustice is qualified and coruption was only commited in MMD. Kabimba and GBM are clean.

  36. Good afternoon

I for one am really happy to see the president sort out the matter and restore order in his ranks again.

Great words from the president, which explode the myth that there is a dictatorship at rule and that things are getting worse. Back to business as usual.

    • totally naive of you Nine Chale and am one of the many who used to love your objectivity. Right now people can tell that you try as much as possible to mute your support of these guys and I find it hard to believe that someone of your standing can choose to ignore the many cries from the ordinary Zambian about how really bad things are at the grassroots. Before you rush to build roads and bridges, take care of the little ones first. You cannot decide to suspend meals for your family coz u are saving to buy a plasma, thats exactly wats going on here. My sis in-law runs a money lending business, all legal and she told me that amongst her clients now are bank managers and other big shots who she never had b4. people are broke my friend. Thats plain to see by all that are sane.

    • Meaning? “Wina azalila” appears often and is up there with “Ndeloleshafye”. Unproductive, passive and total waste of space .
If you have nothing to say, it’s ok to just vote up or down. Chances are, your opinion has already been articulated by the more mentally able bloggers.

      Use the Vote instead.
