Chipolopolo defender Christopher Munthali registered a brace on Sunday to propel Nkana to a 2-1 victory over Napsa Stars in the FAZ Super Division match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Munthali was on target in the 5th and 71st minutes to ensure that second placed Nkana continued breathing heavily on leaders neck Zesco United.
The defender tapped in from close range after the Napsa backline failed to clear a free kick and completed his brace with a glancing header from a corner.
Napsa’s lone goal was inked by substitute Spencer Ngalande after 58 minutes.
Earlier in the 21st minute Napsa had a chance to equalise but keeper Scott Ngokene had his penalty stopped by his Nkana counterpart Makasa Mufwaya.
Kamfinsa referee Milton Mweemba awarded Napsa a penalty following a handball in the Nkana defence.
The win has pushed Masausto Mwale’s Nkana to 40 points, one below Zesco who beat Roan United 2-0 in the earlier match at Nkana Stadium on Sunday.
Napsa beat Nkana 1-0 in the reverse fixture on May 4 in Lusaka.

Nkana for life! this was good performance by the defender who realized the need to work as a team. Goals should not just be expected to be scored by strikers but that any member of the team has a responsibility to make his side win. Well done Nkana!
