Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Matibini has directed Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu to issue a ministerial statement on recent protests by PF cadres in Lusaka.

Dr Matibini made the directive following a point of order from Choma UPND Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa.

Mr Mweetwa rose on a point of order on the protests that led the PF youth to match to State House where they demanded PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba’s resignation.

Mr Mweetwa is concerned that protest by the PF cadres could endanger public security.

He says this is because police have played double standards by refusing the opposition permission to hold rallies in densely populated areas for security reasons while PF cadres are protesting on streets.

In his ruling, Dr Matibini has directed that the Minister of Home Affairs issues a statement in Parliament this week.

    • I would think the ruling if fair. It will be interesting to hear from the Lungu why it is okay for PF cadres and not anyone else to take to the streets.

    • mr speaker sir!,,, mr kabimba CEO of PF and minister of justice says PF is tribal party more than any other party in zambia (source; today`s post) and Mr kabwili say PF is dead (lusakatimes)… mr speaker sir in the face of the above statement from two senior members the same senior central committee of PF, i want to request for your authority to de-register PF as Mr msoni already requested!!!

    • @ndobo,
I must admit I do not know how political parties operate and at the same time I am not sure if the title ‘CEO’ applies in political structures like it does in corporate entities. Can you help me understand this?

  1. If the speaker was like that all along, we would not have reached this far. Parliamentarians are the law makers it is nice to hear them throw checks and balances. Hooliganist MUST BE DONE AWAY WITH. Way to Speaker, Way to go Parley!

  2. PF can you sort out this hooliganism in ur party, structures are not functioning well, failed state my foot.PF eyes on the ball.

  3. GBM knows a lot of what is happening in PF. He is at the thick of things. Confusion started when there was a rumour that Sata collapsed. That is when GBM took over. He has been in charge since with support from Chikwanda. He is trying to purge the party of the likes of Wynter. He keeps going around telling people he is heavy weight. Sata who is a real cabbage does not know what is happening. So what will Lungu say? The cadres are being funded by GBM.

    • His days will come. Every dog has its day…no matter what. And when you are up there, the only out is down. Where are all those leaders we used to look at as powerful? Where are they? Most are even dead!

  5. Parliament to intervene in the PF hostilities? Is this an admission that the PF leadership has failed to clean up its house?

    • He must! He must! He must! He must! He must! He must! MUST GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! HE SHOULD TAKE THE SPEAKER, CJ AND ALL THE CARTEL MEMBERS WITH HIM

  6. how come the speaker has not declared moondeand siamunene seats vacant he is playing double standards not until the pay master speaks or will loose the job.

  7. Wait for next month. PF will be a new party altogether. All hooligans will be tamed and order restored.

GBM has over estimated his might and under-estimated the role played by M’membe, Kabimba and Mathani in 2011 elections.

GBM has financial might but has accumulated so many skeletons that he can be easily removed and tamed.

Kabimba, M’membe and Mathani are the core of Sata’s inner circle. They are more valuable being kept closer than antagonising and creating an anikonda.

Cobra cannot win an anikonda and here lies the answer to What Sata will do to survive and continue in State House.

  8. our Party in charge is on self destruction, and am wondering why talk about 2016
when they can hardly keep themselves together and do they ever have meetings
to stay on the same page, apart from manifesto do they have rules and procedures
like Kabimba mentioned which the Kaponyas don’t know about, the Party needs to
re brand quickly and get rid of this kaponya reputation of lawlessness, beatings
    threatening others, vandalism

  9. Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Matibini is part of the system that is raping the integrity of this country. The PF’s internal squabbles must not be dragged into the National Assembly because the opposition parties are not a factor in the internal battles between Kabimba/Mmembe/Masebo camp vs GBM/Nsanda/Kambwili camp. Let this fire be confined to the corridors of State House and Mbwingimfumu.

    • It is good that Matibini was cornered into pushing Lungu to give a statement because this time around, Mweetwa is correct, the whole thing which started off as an internal squabble now threatens the peace in our streets. Those cadres can really be a nuisance!

  10. Sata’s health seems to have improved now let him come and hold a press conference when he returns. Let him speak to the people. Pf is crumbling due to lack of direction & leadership . For winter atleast he now knows that there is no morality in politics – bwana. He has been slapped in the face by the supposingly correct decision not to endorse Sata that has turned out to be the graviest mistake of his life. No morality in politics indeed.

  11. I think all these loud mouthed ministers ar the ones bringing all this confusion, nd wen the president cams back must do something, otherwise it wil surely be the end of PF if he is going to allow such nonsense to continue.

  12. I stand corrected – this is the first time Matibini has been objective.
Would I be wrong to think this is because he is in the Kabimba/ Mmembe / Nchito camp?
