Council of Churches in Zambia condemns fake prophets

Share

THE Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has condemned the behaviour by some prophets swindling people out of their money and cattle as a form of payment after ‘healing’ prayers are conducted.

Some fake prophets have invaded Mapanza area in Choma District in Southern Province where they are swindling locals, a move which has angered some senior residents in the area.

CCZ has since appealed to all Zambians to be wary of such false ‘men of God’ who should be exposed as proclaiming the Gospel of Christ was a calling from God and not an employment undertaking.

In an interview yesterday, CCZ General Secretary Suzzane Matale said the council was disappointed with such ‘evil’ behaviour by the unidentified prophets whose actions needed collective condemnation.

“We are now living in a very dangerous era where we are seeing a lot of false prophets and I want to strongly appeal to all Zambians to be wary of these people who are not even men of God,” she said

Reverend Matale said the purported prophets were just a group of conmen whose objectives were to exploit people in the name of proclaiming the word of God.

Such people, she said should not be entertained because they were prophets of doom stealing from the poor Zambians.

“I think we should not allow ourselves to be conned by these conmen and not real prophets. How do you ask for money or any reward for delivering the word of God? This is unacceptable,” rev Matale said

She said the church would not support such immoral vices adding that people engaged in such acts were tarnishing the good image of established church organisations in the country and globally.

Some senior residents of Mapanza on Sunday stormed the Times of Zambia offices in Choma to register their complaints over increased cases of fake prophets swindling the locals.

Jonathan Muchindu of Chief Mapanza’s area said that the prophets had continued to visit the area and charge the locals after conducting purported healing prayers.

On the Copperbelt Province last week, irate members of the public in Kitwe battered a man for publicly claiming to be Jesus Christ.

The man was beaten after he was spotted going round town preaching God’s message claiming to be Christ and that all divine powers of Jesus Christ had incarnated in him.

    • You shall know them by their fruits. Get to their homes and families. These guys are lazy and do not work with their hands. Most of them have troubles managing their families and focus on prestige and desire to be recognized by society. Jesus was never such a character. Read the bible people and you will know them….The problem with many victims is that they don’t have time for the bible

  1. This is what Christendom can do.

Real Christ followers preach salvation from door to door. They don’t ask for money but they ask for your time to be with them and learn about God’s plan for the earth and how he wants to restore what was lost in Paradise.

But it suprises me to find the so called Pastors, prophetors talk about wealth and count it as blessings.Wealth is not bad but the way people acquire it.

It baffles me to see noise on Muvi tv and call it preaching.Please….listen to petersen’s song.

    • Door to door in winter is not practical. Moreover you would be mauled by some vicious pet dog. Internet and other media is ideal. But since you are watch tower that will not be allowed:(

    • From the way you write it is clear that you are a witness. What you should know is that we can never run away from prophecy that false prophets will come up and the scripture is being fulfilled. It is therefore up to to each one of us to be alert and test the spirit, otherwise there are false and fake Christians in any given church.

  2. Too many fake pastors in Zambia who are after money only. They can’t steal from me for I know them. They like preaching on the more you give the more you receive, on prosperity as if the gospel of the Lord Jesus is all about eating and drinking. Fake and rubbish pastors of to day. People read Jer 14 v 14. God is saying he did not send nor command them.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  3. crookedness, conning, faking is what made pastor neverlands nevers mumba into what he is today. He store tithe left right centre from the poor to lead his outlandish lavish life style.

mumba opened doors for all these fake petty conmen prophets Flooding this fake christian nation called zambia. Whats christian about zambia? Pipo who go to church are more evil than satan. Infact he submits to them and they take his evil advice with zest.

  4. Hello complainant,

Just why complain about the so called false prophets? Is it because they have taken away your tithe? Change tactics and join the band wagon. For all I know, religion is the religion you are following was imposed on us. Smell the coffee and become a prophet as well.

    Happy fishing

  5. Currently there is an incident where a “prophet” told a lady who congregates at his church that god has revealed to him that her husband is cheating on her since he has a girl friend. On reaching her home, the woman boiled water to steaming level and poured it on her unsuspecting husband. The poor chap has suffered serious burns on his chest, stomach and hands.Clearly this “prophet”is fake.

  6. and so instead of remembering to deal with people Graciously the answer is to beat up a man on the streets who is under the delusion that he is Christ, Well all I can say if those people of Kitwe call themselves christians they are just as deluded as the poor man who believed he was Christ. This is what happens when churches preach hate by their actions as well as words.

    • awe most people in Zambia are nowhere near being Christians, simply because they confuse the whole thing! what most people overlook is that Jesus, (the greatest teacher of all times) preached love, Christians in Zambia seriously have a lot of things twisted! They will only preach what suits their sinful lifestyles, and even go as far as quoting the scriptures, but in actual fact due to their ignorance, they are misleading a lot of people, and sinning in the process! why beat the Jesus wannabe up? and what do you tell your children when you get home? ” i had a magnificent day today, guys, almost beat up a guy to death who was imitating ” the great I am” how ridiculous!!!!!

  7. you always pay for services sought. why the hustle? nobody forces those villagers to seek the services of the so called men of god. ccz must stop interfering in other pipo’s business.
