Zambia National Team Manager Herve Renard
Zambia National Team Manager Herve Renard

The Football Association of Zambia hereby announces the release of Herve Renard from the job of National coach of the Zambian National Football Team.

The 2012 Nations Cup winning coach has been offered a wonderful opportunity at FC Sochaux in the top league in France.

FAZ and Herve have consulted and it has been agreed not to stand in his way. It is a compliment for a coach working in Africa to be head-hunted by a top European Club. It makes us proud to be able to take ownership of Herve’s rise as a successful international coach.

FAZ wishes to thank Renard for his dedication to duty, hard work, proficiency and wish him well as he takes up his new coaching job.

Following the departure of Renard, Assistant Coach Patrice Beaumelle will take charge of the Chipolopolo starting with the international assignment against Brazil in Beijing next week Tuesday 15th October 2013.

    • Awe nabaleya mwe.High time we put a Zambian there as the coach otherwise he did a wonderful job.Very few physical education teachers can pull out some a feat.Mwende bwino yama uko mwaya.

    • Mr Renard, On behalf of the whole country (yes, including these blogging 1d1ots pretending to be relieved), I would like to thank you for the wonderful joy you’ve repeatedly brought to us as a country.

Have a fantastic career and please ignore the negative comments from the PF cadres bloggin on this site.

      Adios!

    • We will miss Renard’s sophistication…. I think he is/was best coach mwee. Playing:
      – He turned Stopilla Sunzu from striker to best center-back defender in Africa.
      – Chisamba Lungu, the best player, played all positions, except Goalie because Mweene never shares!
      – Mweene was almost back to be a striker or was he just a penalty taker?
      – One time Chivuta was alone striker, while Mbesuma was in holding midfield.
      – That match when Joseph Musonda played ku 11, left top winger. He was good.
      We will miss Renard.
I hope he will take 3 more players from Zambia to his new club.

    • No matter what we say, H Rena’s departure has created a vacuum in the soccer world that needs to be filled soon.
Caution! Never impose try outs or unknowns just to please someone.
      Enjoy wisely,

    • Okey, let’s now find a real coach and not a physical trainer. I have one man in mind – the old man who coached Ghana and is now with DRC. He understands the different patterns of play of various African countries, reads the game very well and is also a very good strategist.

    • Congrats FAZ and Rennie! Keep the Acting Coach and available team include only talented and matured players psyched with winning mentality. Remove players whose aim is only to impress for selection without dedication to dying a little for Mother Zambia. Besides that soccer is lucrative career, we need players with ambition to win first then make a name and money later.

    • Lets put Patrick Phiri there. Give him $70 000 to $100 000. Give him independence to select players. As Zambians, lets give him a lot of support. We will produce the best coach in Africa and partly the world.
In Tanzania at Simba, he was known as “the Mathematician.”
I strongly feel that he can deliver. Infact, I rate him higher than Big Ben (forgive me for that rate).

  1. Thank God Renard is out, hope for good now.
Give job back to real coach Lucky Msiska & Patrice.
If not, bring in some Chinese coaches, even 5 of them they can do a great job.

    • How do you bring a Chinese coach when China has never won any continental cup not even a representation in the World cup? Renard leaving is a big loss. He has raised the standard of our football. I will wait to see the contributions of the next coach if there wont be any regretting later.

  2. It’s a good development. Let’s not rush to fill up this gap. Let’s try to get someone more tactical. We have a good crop of players and plenty of time to solidify before afcon 2015, Olympics 2016, afcon 2017 and WC 2018 etc.

    • Bo LITUNGA point of correction: Zambia was knocked out by Zimbabwe in from the 2014 CHAN(AFRICA NATIONS CUP) to be hosted by South Africa and NOT 2015 AFCON ( AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS) to be hosted by Morocco.

    • Have you really watched Zambian soccer for you to suggest Patrick Phiri’s name? Have you forgotten that he was in charge of the national team when we failed to qualify for Afcon 2004? Patrick would not be the right person to give this job as he is a known failure.

    • I support you. Lets give him $70 000 to $100 000 per month. Give him targets. Freedom to select players. Give him full backing in all his operations. Then get to see results.

  3. Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili says the government will renew Herve Renard’s contract when it expires in June 2014.

Renard’s future has come in the spotlight following Zambia’s failure to make it to the final qualifying round of the 2014 World Cup to be hosted by Brazil.

The Frenchman has said he would not oversee the qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Cup that start in the first half of next if there was no firm commitment to renew his contract.

Kambwili has lain to rest any doubts about renewing the Frenchman’s contract although it is unclear what Renard’s next move will be.

“The employer of the coach is FAZ, the people that pay for the coach are government, therefore FAZ have indicated to us, that they want Renard,” an emotional Kambwili said.

    “And we are renewing…

  4. period, and end of debate!”

Kambwili has launched a verbal tirade on critics who are calling for a wholesome review of

Renard’s performance this year that has seen Zambia crash in the first round of the Africa Cup and also fail to qualify for the African Nations Championship.

He singled the Zambia Football Coaches that said Renard needed to be judged by his record and a decision based on the results.

“The Zambia coaches Association is just an association which is an affiliate of FAZ, they are not FAZ let them do their mandate to protect their coaches from being fired every day, we see coaches being fired from clubs at will. Where have they been? ,” he said.

    • In South Africa, we had nine (9) possible points in the first round of the 2013 AFCON. What did we get? 3 out of 9. In other words 33.3%.
      In real exams. Whats that?

  5. If we’re Rena I would leave too, performance of the team was below par.again docility at play we had to wait for him to leave at his convienence not us firing him.anyway nature is kind to us.

  6. Wish Renard all the best in his new assignment. Its good news for Emmanuel Mayuka at FC Sochaux and expect an influx of Zambian players in France.

  7. Kambwili once said if anyone wants Renard out, let him form his own national team and appoint a coach. Most white people are good thinkers, ba Kambwili always wanting to seen to be caring has been left. See now, learn to listen and listen good. Renard saw that people were against him. He has left, tell us something ba Minister.

  8. I think it is appropriate that we thank Monsieur Renard for his contributions to Zambian football and leave it at that. We did something that we hadn’t achieved before, win the Nations Cup. Subsequent performances be what they may, he made a solid contribution to Zambian football. I hope he succeeds at club level and I also hope that Mayuka benefits too. Perhaps a new leaf is also a good thing for Zambian football, on to the next achievement…

  9. Roger this losers:Zambia has never and will never find a coach like Renard.Arguably,he is the best coach ever who has ever coached the Chicolopelo Boys, oops my bad,I meant to say the Chipolopolo Boys…whatever that means!

  10. So long Herve! Thanks for all you have done for Zambia, your second home.

You told us if you did not qualify the boys to the world cup 2014, you would leave. You are a man of your words.

Shame on those who don’t listen when people make important statements like the one you made.

  11. When someone has done what HOUR did for us its just in order to say thank you & wish him all the best where he has gone. Let’s not insult & say all sorts of things because when we won the AFCON we were praising this man & said evry good thing about him.

  12. Thank you Renard I ll never forget what you have done for our Country.may God Bless you.You put Zambia on the top Spot in 2012 in Africa.i wish you success.Zambia will never forget you..

  13. Long overdue! He should’ve been fired just after winning AfCon 2012. We need an overhaul at Football House. Current administrators have messed up our football. Whilst other teams are playing actively, we’ve been silenced to playing fimpombwa football bcoz of poor admins.
We demand for a Commission of Inquiry on why FAZ cuddled the services of a non performing “coach” in Renard. I smell a BIG rat!

  14. Congratulations Renard. You are a man of inspirations. You have brought honour to our football fraternity. we wish you all the best. Zambian football history will never be complete without your name, as the first ever coach to win AFCON. Please help our boys to break the barrier into the french league

  15. Thank you Renard for the job well done to mother Zambia. Ignore the Pull Him Down syndrome exhibited by non patriotic Zambians. Your reengagement was the best FAZ had ever done. As for Patrick all the best as you pick up from where Renard left. We will give you our support.

Local coaches at the moment not the best because of unprofessionalism.

  16. eish what a relief, i feel so relievd even if this thing is dumping chipolopolo for a second time. i was the first time he did it. hire our own now not fi bernoulli

  17. Renard was a physical train not a coach he used to train the team physic only wen it came to playn they were using individual skills.its actually good riddance to bad rubbish.talented players like Clifford mulenga and others that were frustrated by renard will now be available for the national team.we don’t another trainer but a tactician football nowadays is about tactics not just physic.differing with players over bit.ches wil be a thing of the past.nwe go in peace and help mayuka rediscover his form.

  18. Thanks! Because of you, I entered a pub just to watch the final. The atmosphere was electric and we danced like it was independence day. Thank you and thanks to Kalu for the confidence he had in you. All the best! We shall see you when you take over from Wenger, Moyes or Mourinho.

  19. Farewell Renard. You took Zambian football to a higher level, where many Zambian coaches had failed before, including the legendary Kalu himself. You will certainly have a place i many Zambian hearts. I wish you were going away with a Zambian wife. You deserved to get a beautiful Zambian woman to always remind you of this great and beautiful country

  20. Any way I wish him good success there in france. However he was failing to read games most cases.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  21. ba faz what top european club.stop dreaming.that club is not even consindered top in france.next season it wont be playing in ligue 1

  22. Renard has left us for a seemingly better coaching job just as he did before.
    With Renard, we achieved the following;

    – won the 2012 Afcon

    – went out of 2013 Afcon as defending champions in the group stages
    – failed to qualify for 2014 World Cup even when we were awarded bonus points
    – failed to qualify for 2014 CHAN
    – lost at the new Levy staduim for first time ( Zambia vs Zimbabwe game)
    – failed to win any away competitive game
    – Became draw specialists even when playing at home

Indeed Renard is a ‘good coach’. He should come back to Zambia after they Fire him
at Sochaux and am sure we will receive him again like a ‘prodigal son’.

    The way forward:
Lets develop and Invest in our own local coaches who cannot abandon us, than keep
    enriching foreign…

    • Which local coach has qualified a team to champions league to battle it out with the likes of Al ahly, TP Mazembe, Esperance, Zamalek, etc, to deserve national duties?

  23. Herve Renard,

On behalf of my own family and other families represented herewith, wish to sincerely thank you for the trophy of AFCON, the joys, happiness, smiles and laugther which you brought to Zambia.May the Lord continue to favor you, may he cause his face to shine upon you, may he grant to you success in your new Job, good health be your portion sir.We shall miss you.God bless you!

    Sincerely,

    In Christ Alone.

    Darlingtone Shawa

  24. gudu buyi zambie, iti was guduu and veli nicci to worki here. i will mis olo of you i feel veli badi leaving. sank u veli much ze pipo for your supporti i will lili mis u

    monsier raner

  25. now ba zambia we almost forgot about will come back for “asembe ndani achita so asembe yaloba”lol atlist with Herve we used to draw..will greatly miss you man

  26. YES 5 CHINISE COACHES.
I’M SUPPORT OF THAT. WE ARE USING MODERN STADIUMS BUILT BY CHINESE. SO LET THEM COACH EVEN THE NATIONAL TEAM IN THEIR STADIUMS FULL STOP.

GOOD LUCKY RENARD. AT LEAST YOU DID SOMETHING WE HAVE BEEN LONGING FOR A LONG TIME.

  27. Renard was full of confidence irrespective of the opposition. He brought self-belief in players and soccer fans. He was good at spotting promising talent. Team selection was based on performance and not faces or kick-backs. Wish him well.

  28. Good riddance. I want the vehicle and the plot you were given by these low thinkers – who ever gave them to you. It was just Draws, Draws, Draws and draws with Renard. No Wins what a coach? The Africa Cup winning team was trained by Bonnete NOT Renard??? It takes time to put together a good team not the two months Renard was with the lads before the Africa Cup Finals.

  29. I will miss Renhard. You fought a good race and did our country lots of pride. I wll miss ur screams with both of ur hands in the air whenever Zed was on a crucial encounter. Nothing remains permanent hence even ur departure is very normal. From deep my heart I wish u lots of success in ur endeavor

  30. HR, listen to genuine zambians who saying a big thanx to a man that done zambia proud. All these youngstars making noise against are just delusional and myopic all the time. They dont appreciate anyone not even themselves. They are spoilt little kids with no future but blogging trash all the time.

Once again great coach farewell, few coaches in the english premier league can match you,not even the loser england coach.

  31. Give the job to TENANT CHILUMBA……. He is the bst tactical coach in Zambia with a scientific approach to the game.

  32. THANKS HERVE, from one that truly believed in, & had faith inYou!! Wish U the best of luck!!
I know eventually Zambia will benefit, especially if You are a success @ Sochaux.

  33. THE PROBLEM WITH OUR ZAMBIAN COACHES IS TOO MUCH NCHEKELAKO AND RELATINVES AND FRIENDS.

RENARD PICKED PLAYERS ON MERIT WHETHER NEW OR OLD. TRY ZAMBIAN COACHES YOU WILL SEE RELATIVES FLOAKING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR NATIONAL DUTIES.

GOOD LUCK RENARD I WILL MISS YOU.

  34. Go well ze man with ze white Shirt. It is important in life to live th floor when people r stil clapping. We wil miss u! We wish u o ze best and God bless u. Now tht u Ze frenchman is gone Let us call the Egyptian Coach! That man can do a gud job!

  35. High time he left. A man at the right spot an the right time- simply a chancer to be honest. He was never a technical expert & could not read a game to essentially institute tactical substitutions to change the outcome of a game seemingly headed for a loss.
However, he fully deserves credit for his part in Chipolopolo winning AFCON 2012. AFCON 2012 was destiny and no single team player or member of the technical bench should claim prime attribute for victory.
With Renard gone, Zambia should be able to seriously aim for WC2018. Let us assemble all the talent such as Ronald Kambamba, Clifford Mulenga and several others sidelined by the arrogant frenchman- ofcourse blend with a few in current side who are adding value- systematically trimming off dead wood he was tolerating french arrogance

  36. Go well, Frenchman. Ze people of Zambia will forever remember you. You brought smiles to our faces when you spoke, and coached. ‘Au revoir, Monsieur.’
