Zambia immigration hunt Sunzu, Kalaba and Sinkala

Share

Rainford Kalaba, Stopilla Sunzu and Nathan Sinkala are facing the prospect of arrest for allegedly illegally leaving Zambia.

The trio are in the midst of an ugly club versus country crossfire after TP Mazembe refused to release them for the October 15 friendly against Brazil in Beijing citing illness and injuries.

The trio was in Zambia yesterday with Mazembe officials to meet FAZ officials but reached a deadlock over their release.

However, the three are believed to have allegedly sneaked out of the country back to their DR Congo base without proper immigration exit formalities.

“Following information received from a reliable source that the TP Mazembe players and officials who entered Zambia aboard a Chartered Plane via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Saturday, 12th October, 2013 had returned to Congo DRC using some other mode of transport, the Department carried out a comprehensive search on recent exits,” Zambia Department of Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka said in a statement.

“The search has revealed that any exit made by the players was done illegally as they did not appear before Immigration authorities as required by the Immigration and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010.

“In this regard therefore, the Department intends to arrest the players and anyone who may have aided their illegal crossing. We have alerted our officers throughout the country especially those at the borders to intercept the players on sight.”

    • To be fair and reasonable, FAZ should have just let them Go play for mazembe as their foreth coming game at Mazebe is crutial. For God’s sake its just a friend match aganist brazill and we will lose with or without our Mazembe based plays.More over the Gam was just a share wast of money and time because Zambia is currently not preparing for any tornament now!

    • Why force players if they can’t show patriotism? Let them alone and never call them again for national duties. If they really wanted to play for Zambia they should have shown some seriousness.

    • Club versus country feuds are not a strange phenomenon and all that these players should’ve done was to openly declare their preference for the club which pays them better than to escape from the country illegally. We shouldnt glorify these players by behaving as if they are indispensable. By leaving the country illegally ( for the love of money), They have now committed a CRIMINAL offence for which they should be LOCKED UP. They are a bad example to upcoming players and should be banned from playing any role in Zambian soccer for the rest of their lives. Is it possible to expect our future teams to be disciplined if they were to be coached by these players? To hell with these WRONG MODELS! Let’s just replace them – this country has 13 million people …

  1. How did you loose them? My friend Chishimba instructed you to only clear them en-route to China not DRC? Find them now or i will call Chishimba Kambwili

  2. Its so easy to get into Congo and back to Zambia. As kids we used to go playing in Congo from Ndola nearly every day during the school holidays

  3. The empty suits at FAZ are incapable of handling such issues of club versus country, relations are already sour and this is a friendly for crying out loud.

  4. let the boys alone, in fact it shld be proof that they r well if they managed to come home from that horrible country for clubbing.. they r our stars , celebs..

  5. katumbi, katumbi, katumbi, why?
lets make life for these congole difficult if we can.
    he is daring us.
as for the three stupid players, they can hung.
    atase!

  6. Mwe bantu, this is just a friendly match, let Mazembe use the boys for a serious encounter next sunday. Thats why countries in the west batutolela, nififine, if it was a friendly with Malawi, no one would have said kwe.

    • shut your hasi if you dont know anything about football. Do you know what this ll do to zambia’s prestige worldwide. Stop being ignorantly simplistic. Why do some zambians use their hases for thinking.

    • Shut the fack up!
Spineless morons like u really irritate the flip out of most of us. You don’t even care about the dignity of this nation. How many REAL SICK people do u think have been deprived of tax payers income to pay these *****s instead of paying nurses & doctors? Then when they pull this sh!t you want us to roll over & say “balekeni”!
      Damn you!

    • Friendly or not, this is a very important game. The guys have proved to be more Congolese than Zambians-shame! I can foresee that could be the end of them being called to play for national team…

    • if you don’t know that the Zambia Brazil game is equally important not only for Zambia as a country but mostly for the players careers, i suggest you keep you mouth shut…coz you are frustrating every thing even more…

  7. This what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket, you have been having your trials and so forth to look for young talent and what have you achieved? Your PE teacher is long gone replaced by an equally inexperienced psycho no. 2 what a joke We still relying on the selfsame old players from 2012 most teams have moved forward.

    • @jayjay
Stop being hypocritical, england has players that have played for national team for close to 20 years, has it dropped them? The answers is ”NO SIR.”

These boys still ve 10 more yrs to play football the fact that ba nkala vipuba manje doesnt mean zambia shouldnt rely on them.

    • Cameroon featured E too yesturday. What is your comment? Why do you seem to be the only one with knowledge about football? Experienced and young players are supposed to be blended. They have done a big wrong. Can one child run away from a family because the other parent gives more? For me Sinkala is the best player we have but what he has done is very bad. Be patriotic. Lets move as a nation.

  8. The question the gullible fans should be asking themselves is why is it that clubs are refusing to release players? Clubs know that FAZ and the coaching team are all an incompetent bunch and it a risk for them.

    • What a nonsensical statement; FIFA has established clear guidelines on the release of players for games on the FIFA calendar. The Zambian FA has the right to call players and assess their health. It’s not up to TP Mazembe to determine their status for national duty. The onus is on the players to show up when recalled. In this cases, the players chose club over country. Time to move and ignore these players for any future games, but TP and the players need to be punished.

    • And what would you do if it were you? This is only a friendly put yourselves in their shoes in fact the crooks at Football House hardly pay these boys. I doubt it if they will pay these boys for featuring in a game against Brazil as this will attract a healthy sum in TV money.

  9. FAZ needs to aggressively pursue the FIFA route, while the government pursues the criminal route. TP is flouting international law.

  10. What is at stake here is that big countries will never take Zambia seriuosly on friendlies are concerned, that is why we have in the past failed to get good teams in friendlies, if you can’t provide quality team. When Zambia was invited by south Africa to play the Nelson mandela cup, SAFA put a condition that Zambia should field a strong team which won the Afcon. This is not an ordinary friendly, the whole world will be watching and following the proceedings but of Brazil. I strongly think that this is a very big diservice from the 3 players to the country. We needed to be at our best as a team to honour the opportunity to play world class teams. Its very unfortunate. When u are dealing with crooked people like Kat..you can’t blame FAZ

    • But Kat… has invested a lot of money in those players, you think he is going to release players to a sports psycho/ national coach to get them injured! Get your house in order!LOL

    • More comments devoid of thought; it’s not TP Mazembe’s choice. Once a player is recalled, the National Team physio will determine their fitness. Besides, these players featured for TP last week and we’re supposed to believe all three are injured?

    • @One Zambia
When you sort yourselves and put your house in order, these foreign clubs will take you seriously including your national team physio….in the mean time they will think twice before they release their assets to your incompetent FAZ.

  11. Anyone blaming the Zambian FA has to get their head checked, TP Mazembe are to blame here, and i for one never want to see any of those players in a Chipolopolo jersey, they are a disgrace to the Nation.

  12. Not again…… why cant things just go smoothly for us? Everytime we try to enjoy some game, there comes all sorts of problems from all directions, if its not Ghana vandalising property in our newly built stadium somewhere in Ndola or mistreating our boys, it’s Mamadou pounding us with nonsensical utterences on live tv or social media to mere clubs like TP mazembe behaving as if we are on their mercy for our dear life! Can Faz put it’s house in order once and for all this is too much, this year has been really terrible in Zambias soccer life, why are you being taken for granted FAZ? Check yourselves and clean your house! Political atmosphere.. in shambles, Football… Tattered! I rest my case… Gasping here.

  13. Here we go again…Zambian twist! immigration with your own nationals! Using state resources to oppress your own people.

  14. Do not be emotional, do not bother yourself; nothing will happen to TPM. A private jet brought the players from Lubumbashi and there was no doctor to examin them. Why should they travel in their state to China to be examined. Not fair!

    • That call was made before the team went to China. We have a doctor for the team. Did you want him to wait up to yesturday?

    • Ba Zambia ubukopo pamo na mnster of sport. You ve already lost the case with FIFA as the boys were brought in by Mazembe for you to see and examine. The fact that u ve only one doctor is not anyone’s problem but yours alone. Don’t haunt our own to fulfill your egos.

    • The problem with you people is you have selective amnesia, you think Katumbi has forgotten about how the crooks at FAZ tried to steal Sunzu behind his back in England. You ask yourselves why FAZ was so eager to release Sunzu for useless trials in Europe days before a crucial AFCON game. There is more to this issue…why was FAZ mute then??
      Wake up from your docility!!

  15. What do you expect from the congolese? They are generally criminals in many of their dealings. You trust a congolese at your own peril.

    • You can call them whatever you like. The fact is they pay these guys their wages. If we paid better wages in Zambia, our players would not be playing for ‘criminals’ as you call them.

    • At least the so called Congolese criminals invest in their local clubs unlike your loudmouthed Zambian millionaires who only invest their money in depreciating assets.

    • Its these selfsame Kalu and his corrupt officials at FAZ who tried to sell Sunzu on free transfer a few months ago to English clubs so TP would not get anything that started all this. You think Moïse Katumbi has forgotten if he was spiteful like your greedy officials at Football house, he would have reported Sunzu to FIFA and finished the boy’s career.
Why is it that FAZ was mute on that issue??
Wake up, the real CRIMINALS are in Football House!!
      Wake up!!!!

  16. Since when did it become illegal to leave a country? Only communist states, such as China, North Korea, Eritrea and Cuba have requirements for their people to seek permission before leaving. Unless I am wrong, Zambians go in and out of Congo freely. I don’t even understand why we need to make such a big fuss about a friendly when we have not even qualified for anything. We are not preparing for a tournament. Mazembe, who pay wages for these guys, have important games they need to win. I bet this fixture was arranged on the premise that we would qualify for the world cup.

    • Its illegal as long as you don’t follow procedure in all countries of the world. Your stay abroad is a responsibilty of your country. Thats why you hear US or any other give warning to their nationals when things are not okay wherever.

    • Even crossing into Congo without established channels is illegal. Let you be arrested there, in Congo, then you will understand.

  17. Friends this is a friendly against Brazil and not Malawi. If we miss this chance no serious time will ever take us seriously. Therefore we needed these players to give Brazil the best challenge. FIFA should discipline Katumbi not with a fine but serious sanction such as not playing continental football for two years.

  18. Immigration! just relax. You know how deep my pockets can be just like the deep mines of Zambia. I need them boys for the crunch continental cup. Chipolopolo will be fine without them against the samba boys and please don’t push your luck because i might give them Congolese passports and a few thousand dollars. The leopards can use some of that talent.

  19. FAZ showing it’s incompetence again. These guys messed up the Ghana vs Zambia arrangements and have again failed to properly prepare for another match. What do you expect when the Ministry of Sport becomes a dumping ground for Ministers that have failed to perform in other Ministries. A good organisation should have had a plan ‘B’ in place with suitable replacements for doughtful players like the three in question. After all, if my memory serves me right, you are allowed to used as many players as you like for a friendly.

  20. The boys should just report at kasumbalesa, as exit, what proof do immigration have that these guys left??? Hearsay or press reports are not proof enough!! The boys are probably just enjoying some Mosi, rather some Simba in some corner of chamboli!!

    • Very true because TPMazembe internet site reports that they are still in Zambia.
What happened is that upon their arrival Dr Mwila Lupasha was not authorised to examin them. Instead they commanded them to travel to China to be examined by the team doctor. That’s what they refused to do.

  21. @jayjay
Seems you ve a problem with something/someone you are not telling us. Your points seem strange to me. This is what zambia has at the moment… The players, coaches, faz officials, should we stop functioning simply cause you dont like certain individuals? The mark of a great man is been content with you have and not what dont you ve.

If you were england fan would ve died long time ago from stress. England’s performance despite the financial muscle is stressful.

    • Could he be the owner the the cloud club? What has the country housing that team acquired in resent past? With all the money some one is praising them for.

  22. Faz can you drop these illiterates from the National team. They have committed unpardonable sin. Start grooming young players and don’t you ever call them for national duty again. Their action and love for money is very retrogressive to football. Honestly even reaching to an extent of disobeying Faz, Hon ck and violating the law of this great nation. We don’t want to see these three fools period!

  23. Its very simple. Let FIFA just ensure they do not play in TP Mazembe’s game. Its called fair play (without playing), LOL!

  24. Ba TT ,I hope you are not comparing the Brazilian friendly with Malawi(Nyasaland soccer)The former is a high profile team and the latter is ranked below Zedian team. so do NOT compare……serious engagement with local ‘derby’ stuff.Anyway ,abo abaleya Zambaian/Congolese based players are free to remain at TP.It’s a world of choices notwithstanding the patriotism phenomenon-but the immigration fracas can be handled separately-not mixing it with the Tuesday encounter,no folks.

  25. Since when do Zambians have to go through the immigration procedure when leaving the country? I have been traveling to Zambia on two occasions in the last 7 years and I have never been required to sign or write anything about about my leaving. They should maybe be pursued for not saying bye to FAZ otherwise there is no case here. A pity they have chosen the club over the country.

  26. The problems between FAZ and Mazembe have arisen because the crooked FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya has twice tried to sell Mazembe players illegally as he did with Emmanuel Mayuka when he was taken without the consent of Kabwe Warriors when FAZ illegally signed his international clearance certificate.

Kalsusha Bwalya tried it with Emmanuel Mbola and later Sunzu but failed when Mazembe threatened to reveal how much he had personally pocketed from them when they signed Mbola.

Now the chickens have come home to roost.

    • Irrelevant; the Zambian FA recalled the players per FIFA guidelines, and TP Mazembe ignored the request. They MUST be punished.

  27. Police urged to arrest and charge Wynter Kabimba first for forming an illegal militia group with intentions to harm Zambians, before they can pounce on younger and defenseless Sunzu, Kalaba and Sinkala. Disbanding Wynter’s militia group is more urgent than the arrest of the trio.

  28. Wow, this is total drama. I can’t blame Katumbi or the boys not even the fans. Katumbi just took advantage of a weak manpower or system at an institution. The problem is totally administrative and at FAZ to be particular. When ever FAZ under performs, like threatened young boys they run on to report to Fifa. Can they inform the nation what their constitution and fifa constitution say when you find yourself in such a predicament. This is a big institution, its time we started considering accademic qualifications in who takes office at the institution. Employing footballers and friends of footballers in Jobs that demand managerial accademic qualifications will do our football no good. Our footballers also, you need to be schooled it will make you understand your rights. Take Jacob…

  29. SUNZU, KALABA, AND NATHAN THE PAGE YOU HAVE WRITTEN IS A FREE TO READY BOOK. SOON YOU WILL HAVE THE TEST OF YOUR OWN MEDICINE WE ARE NOT SHORT BETTER OPTIONS OR GUNS. ACTUALLY THERE IS LESS OF BEING ZAMBIAN IN THEIR BLOOD I DON’T WISH TO SEE THEM IN EITHER A GREEN OR ORANGE JERSEY.
