President Micheal Sata this morning swore in Livingstone Member of Parliament Lawrence Evans as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Wamunyima Muwana as Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary.

And speaking to journalists soon after being sworn in Mr. Evans stressed that there is need to explore the country’s tourism potential.

He said so much attention had been given to the Victoria Falls when the country had so many tourism attractions that have not been exploited.

“I’m humbled, this appointment is not an easy one. It’s a big challenge and I hope to do my very best,” Mr Evans said.

He added,” we have to make tourism products cheaper and affordable for all. How many Zambians today would afford to travel to the various tourist sites with their families?”

Meanwhile, newly appointed Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana has described his appointment as a huge challenge as there are so many developmental projects currently underway in Lusaka Province which will require his attention.

“You can see the various road works, new infrastructure coming up, markets and schools and all these things require close monitoring for smooth implementation,” Mr Muwana said.

“Am happy that I have a strong team, you can see my Minister is here and together we can push the province forward.”

    • This lozi is too young I know him wwamu 1986 imagine ministers and deputies should be at least 50 years old to gain respect atase

    • They said he has served in the public service for 23 years and if he was born in 1986, he should be 27 years old. Jo, I believe it a different Wamu that you know.

    • @ Jo

Stop lying, you don’t know Wamu. And I’m saying stop lying because you continue to lie even when the photo is there. Wamu started working for ZANIS in about 1992 and I worked with him at mass-media complex. Are you saying he was 6 years when he joined government? Please stop this habit of gossiping like women….or pretending to know everything.

    • @cindy
when was the last time you were in zambia??… alot of people look sick… maybe its fashionable to look sick, just look at kabimba`s skin on his face,, it does matter how good the camera man is or how many kilos of vaseline he applies on it… that skin is just dry like a repitle skin!!!

    • @ Ndobo,
Its been ages since i last visited zambia, please stop cracking me my ribs are complaining by the way,Kabimba loosks dry like a log he can burn without using any flamable lubricant in summer!

    • Cindy, we Livingstonians voted for him in sickness and good health, jealous down, let us wish him well. Honourable Evans, you are now a national leader, but as you promote other tourism sites in Zambia do not belittle L/stone the Tourist Capital in this country your stepping stone to become D/Minister. It is now the cleanest town in Zambia though still dirtiest and least developed Tourism Capital in Africa compared to other Tourist Capitals like Swakopmund in Namibia, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Durban and CapeTown in SA, Mombasa in Kenya and Abijan in Ivory Coast to mention the few places I have managed to visit on holiday. Our MP, PF has just started to build and clean up L/stone do not slow down, remember it is your constituency.

    • @innocent
iwe innocent … you dont ever know livingstone,,ati we from livingstone… which part of livingstone?? where in livingstone?? i know livingstone like the inside of my hand,, go ahead, tell me where in livingstone??

  1. This guy is an expert at swearing in people he kicks out after few days. He is a confused president. Such ceremony no longer excite Zambians.

    • Ndobo and Umwina Zed above( mwe bana mule kwatako no muchinshi) blog on real issues or remain asleep. I am a settler Livingstonian or rather a permanent resident in this Capital City of Zambia and I have contributed to its latest status. On presidential press conferences, I said before that although I am non-partisan I respect what the PF and President are doing enjoying the mandate we the voters gave them. Remember they campaigned using the slogan “Donchi Kubeba” simply meaning do not tell them. Mr. Sata has continued to fulfill his slogan by not telling the nation through “press conferences’ but rather through press releases. In Bemba batila…abakali tabalanda landa batichitafye ifipapo… meaning serious people do not talk any how or too much but rather acts effectively.

    • How many positions are there for deputy ministers? I thought his govt was already bloated. I am actually concerned that these appointments have continued even though people have expressed concern at the size of his cabinet. What economic value are these appointments adding to the country? Ba Sata be serious.
