The Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka province has lifted the suspension slapped on Chawama constituency chairman Robert Chikwelete and immediate past Lusaka district chairman Goodson Banda in order to promote unity and reconciliation in the party.

ZANIS reports that the duo were recently suspended from the party for various offences committed during the internal wrangles that rocked the party.

PF Lusaka Province chairperson Geoffrey Chuumbwe announced the lifting of the suspension in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

“I wish to inform to the nation through this media statement that the Party in Lusaka Province has with immediate effect lifted the suspension of Chawama constituency chairman Mr. Robert Chikwelete and former Lusaka district chairman Goodson Banda who were recently suspended from the Patriotic Front for various offences”, he said.

Mr. Chuumbwe explained that the decision to lift the suspensions has been made in the spirit of promoting party unity and fairness following the reconciliation of the duo over the weekend.

He further explained that the decision also means that the two party officials are now eligible to contest the forthcoming Lusaka district chairmanship elections.

Mr. Chuumbwe appealed to the party’s rank and file in Lusaka Province to embrace the two leaders so that the Party in Lusaka district moves forward in fostering unity and development.

“ I therefore appeal to the party members in Lusaka Province that in the spirit of reconciliation and as children of one family let us welcome and embrace the two leaders so that the Party in Lusaka district moves forward in fostering unity and development for the greater good of our Party in Lusaka Province”, he added.

At the peak of the wrangles, President Michael Sata directed the provincial party leadership to organize new elections in order to usher in new office bearers.
According to media reports, Lusaka City Council Deputy Mayor Mulenga Sata has since been floated as candidate by representatives of seven constituencies in Lusaka District.

    • Just look at this f00l Chuumbwe. The guy looks like a criminal . And yet these are the idi0ts entrusted with the affairs of Zambia. I put the blame on MMD. Ask me why, they MMD messed up Zambia such that we just wanted to get rid of them. But alas in the process (of getting rid of MMD) we ended up in the hands of criminals (PF). I wonder what we will end up with after removing these criminals.

    • Hopefully we have learned as a people. In the first instance we wanted bazungus out regardless of who took over. Same in 1991 we wanted KK and UNIP out without reviewing or assessing the potential successors. In frustration if not anger MMD was ousted in 2011 just for the sake of change and what change! Hopefully we have learned on how to change. Lets change

  2. Why was Banda suspended? And what is the meaning of his suspension when his office was dissolved ! They both can hang actually!

    • Ladies and gentlemen, l think you are all missing the point, all this drama was just to pave way for Mulenga Sata to be District Chairman. The speed at which all this clearing and forgiving of Chikwelete and Banda is just ukumishinga bata pa menso. Look at the bigger picture the succession battle has but all been sorted out. Before you realize Mulenga Sata will be at State House as Zambia One! What all of a sudden has caused GBM to end up hospitalised if not very bad irreversable news, and Kabimba’s unshaken confidence?

  3. While laudable this would certainly open a can of worms. Its like a man who repents but had impregnated a girl, repentance wont delete the pregnancy! I think its rather too early and fresh for the duo to be allowed to campaigned stand for elections. You mean Ba Chumbwe the PF party is lacking in clean people who can stand? Are we trying to personalize Lusaka to those two divisive elements? It is high time lunacy is removed from the party. As outsiders we do not pride in seeing disintegration at play in people who are leading us. Clearly the two will bring a wrong dimension to the Lusaka elections. I would have loved to see a situation where the two are not allowed to stand let alone campaign for anyone. Maybe this is just wishful thinking but sometimes saying it as it is makes life easier.

  4. Wow! our politics is pathetic, absurd, politics of thugary to say the least… it seems to me these people ar just after business intrest now it luks like the kabimba group have won the battle. gbm troops are giving up da fight and soon very soon the “general big mimba” will be cought.

  5. It is a pity to note that PF is a haven for known criminals. If one had committed terrible crimes, the best option left is for one to join the PF for protection against the evils committed to the State and the Tax payers. PF has thus become a Big CIRCUS and a hideout for criminals. In PF circles it taboo and laughable to live an honest life as a Christian.

  6. So after going down on his knees, weeping like a child whose candy has been taken away, Kabimba has asked the president to give him a second chance?

    • @Chinyama- Are you out of your mind to think some kind of Sata or that peace of PF secretary to be “smart”… If you want respect then just stop thinking, because your current thoughts may be compared to inyama.

  7. These thugs especially this chikwelete character need to be made an example of. What message are we giving the youths? We need punish those that do not follow the party’s constitution, so if I insult Kabimba today I will be pardoned if I say sorry, is that normal? Does the party have a displinary code, or do we have a kangaroo court with no laid down sentences for such culprits. This is a disgrace …

    • Ricky, never mind these PF cadres have just shown Chuumbwe what reconciliation means to them through the use of pangas. PF is a divided house no matter how much they deny it.

  8. It is taking too long for the PF as a ruling party to settle which affects the government settling hence robbing Zambians much needed development delivery.

  9. Just look at the names involved:
    Chuumbwe means Graveyard in tonga,
Chikwelete means kaloba or nkongole, credit.
    Strange Duo indeed!
Such are the disciples of Kabimba.
Kabimba is another mystery. I pray PF to adopt him for 2016 in case MCS steps down. The disciple of 30 years cannot sell well to the electorate, hence will give us some advantage to usher in progressive minds!

The divisions in PF will show clearly as we near 2016.

  10. …Just a bit over 2 hours ago- this same “reconciliation” has been annhiliated. PF cadres on the way to see our President and former President KK started to fight. Blood has been shed. What a party bane.

What a party bane…And I bet you my last kwacha M’membe and company will find a way to sugarcoat “St. Michael” and thereby absolve him of responsibility as the head of govt and the party. Bena ba Michael niba Savior. Ati he has embarked on project- projects on borrowed money we cannot afford…ndeloleshafye.
