Musakanya to miss Cecafa Cup

Injured Zambia and Red Arrows midfielder Bruce Musakanya been ruled out of the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

National team doctor Joseph Kabungo confirmed that Musakanya has an hamstring injury that will sideline him for three weeks.

He sustained the injury on Saturday as Arrows thumped Nchanga Rangers 3-1 to win the 2013 Barclays Cup in Lusaka.

“He is not coming with us, he is injured, he got a hamstring injury that rules him out of this tournament. He is out for three weeks,” Dr Kabungo said.
Musakanya has since been replaced by his Arrows team mate Stanley Nshimbi.

And on recovering Zesco United midfielder Kondwani Mtonga (hip injury) , Dr. Kabungo said he was making progress.
“Kondwani is doing well in training.”

Meanwhile, Zambia will kick-off the CECAFA Cup outing in Kenya with a game against Tanzania on 28 November in Machakos Town.

The CECAFA Cup takes place from 27 November-December 12 in Kenya.
Zambia’s other Group B rivals are Burundi and Somalia.
