The United Party for National Development (UPND) has saluted Nkana Football Club for winning the 2013 FAZ Super League title.
Nkana won the 12th League title last week after thrashing Red Arrows 4-1 in their final league match in Kitwe.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, UPND Chairperson for Youth Affairs Likando Mufalali commended Kalampa for making history.
“May I take this opportunity on behalf of our party to join the rest of Zambians in congratulating Nkana Football club, management and supporters for lifting this year’s premier league title for a record 12thtime,” Mufalali said.
“For the other teams, all we can say is please never give up and keep working hard for the development of sports in this country,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mufalali has congratulated the Zambia Under-17 Women’s Team for qualifying to the 2014 World Cup to be hosted by Costa Rica.
“It is with delight and pleasure that as UPND we congratulate the victorious Zambia under-17 women’s national team for qualifying to the 2014 world cup to be held in Costa Rica,” Mufalali said.
“This is yet another milestone in the history of our nation’s sportsmen and women, especially that it is the very first time that our women’s national team has ever qualified to the world cup finals,” he added.
“As UPND, this is indeed a happy moment for the people of Zambia and our girls and in particular as it is sign of better things to come.”

@Sansamukeni, you cannot tell them what to comment on or who to commend. UPND decided to congratulate the female team direct, because that is where the impact will be felt most and not a vacuous entity like government. Who is going to appreciate the commendation there anyway? The female team physically achieved the qualification feat, which their male counterparts have failed to attain so far. Is your resentment towards UPND’s congratulatory message as a result of the fact that they are the first party, ahead of PF, to do so? I bet if it was someone from the ruling party or any of the satellite parties, this message would have been hailed as a mark of patriotism!
