GOVERNMENT says it is disappointed with some churches that have chosen to form coalitions with civil society organizations (CSOs) whose purpose is to destroy the cultural fabric of the country.
Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba said it was disappointing to see some certain churches working with some organizations to push for the inclusion of alien cultures such as homosexuality in the Constitution in the name of promoting human rights.
Mr Kabimba who is PF secretary general said the church should not be a ‘sing-along’ partner with some CSOs that decided to run amok at the behest of outside influences but should rather be the centripetal force that brought everyone around to consensus, unity and reasonableness.
“Why are some churches forming alliances with people that are championing causes that threaten both our cultural norms and our Christian values” Mr Kabimba wondered.
Mr Kabimba was speaking yesterday at a church fundraising programme for the United Church of Zambia at Saint Bartholomew consistory in Marrapodi Township.
He said that the PF Government would guard against any outside influence that attempted to hijack the Supreme law of the land while on the other hand ensuring that a people driven constitution was enacted.
Mr Kabimba wondered what such churches were trying to achieve by going in league with organizations that were receiving money to champion the gay rights.
Mr Kabimba said that the church should be at the core of nation unity, peace, morality and promotion of social and spiritual well being of the people and not creating divisions.
He however said that the government valued the critical role that the church had continued to play in various areas like provision of education, health services and promotion of social justice and governance.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabimba donated K3000 to the church towards the construction of the UCZ church building in Marrapodi Township.
And Marrapodi UCZ minister in charge Royd Sikaundi thanked the PF government for the mushrooming development in Mandevu constituency.
Rev Sikaundi said during the main service preaching that government had constructed clinics, schools and roads among others which had helped to uplift the standard living of the people of Marrapodi.
He urged the congregants to appreciate what government was doing in developing the nation.
Blanket condemnation of some churches on the purported support of gay rights does not help govt at all. Since govt knows which churches may be in the forfront of trying to perpetrate same sex relationships why not expose them other then telling us that “some churches” are supporting homosexuality?
why wasting time giving blanket statements instead of simply instructing the Catholic Church in Zambia to stop supporting inclusion of gay rights in the draft constititution. Let’s be brunt in speach bwana minister.
Viva Gay rights
Life without Kabimba is good, whenever he come out we hear funeral of an MP. Who is Manduve-Mallipodi MP? You better visit ng’anga, that K3m donated is not meant for God.
@Nostradamus
ati life without kabimba is good…kekekekekekekek
Cant you see that kabimba is now trying to compete with your Uncle GBM,,, he(Kabimba) is also donating money to UCZ. Kabimba is noe earning alot of money in the A-team,, mwapya!!!
Nice move. Deflection and jumping on to causes to hide the real issue. We all know that the bum fu.ckers will not be in the constitition niether the cu.unt lickers. The move is to find an exccuse to delay the 50 + 1 deal. This terrifies the shi.t out of our midgets. Tuma short short leaders.
Following the best colonial tradition: “DIVIDE AND RULE”
Hon. Kabimba, forget guy’s issue. What all Zambians want to know is whereabouts of the final draft of the Constitution? Instead of inventing the non issue of guy’s in order to deflect from constant breaches of fundamental rights, keep your promises and deliver Peoples Constitution to the People.
Please dont shift attention to attacking churches, forget the STUPID “Gay rights”. Give us Draft Consititution and oloso give us the status of the infights in PF. eeffee you cant do that wait for our reaction in 2016 under the current constitution 50 plus one. Tukamona N’gmukaegeta.
Its strange to hear black savages being bigoted-just backwards primtives following their religious white masters…
ATI GAY RIGHTS, NI FRED M’MEMBE.
fúuck! B?tch! Get the fúcck out!
AND DR. PHIRI
It is fred membe and sataz church that surport gays
All homophobes Get fúcked!!!
Are we a Christian fundamentalist state now? When you say “cultural morals and christian values” are you excluding those of a different persuasion here? Why do we advocate freedom of worship and yet scorn those with different standing than what we, the majority seem to follow. The values of a society is judged by the way they treat those weakest or in the minority in their midst. I think while we think about gay rights and all the contentious issues, we must not forget this basic tenet. Gay rights or not, we seem to have allowed colonial pretexts to still guide our present state of circumstances and it is very sad.
The church must find better ways of fund raising for there projects. Politician dont give without expecting some return. They are making a bed of nails and when they will be asked to sleep in it they should not cry foul. Politician temunobe.
This guy named Kabimba is as abhorent and repulsive as the gay agenda itself.
There is nothing repulsive about human rights and yes homosexuals are human beings with rights . Before some fool starts saying well what about the human rights of murders and such – homos do not hurt any one and this is why after over 50 years of fighting ignorance and bigotry they are winning in the west . The west was in the same anti homo place as Zambia is now 50 years ago , but has since seen the false claims and lies of the anti homos as what they are = garbage . This is why anti homos need laws to stop homos talking in public because when the true facts get weeded out from the false the homos all ways win out .
ati gay rights. even those who bonk dogs and cows will say, ‘we should have rights to practice our sex freely’. so this nonsense of gays is rubbish. leave it to those
mad chaps like mushota. even dogs, cats cows chickens etc know and can tell which is a female and a male. how do we procreate if you release in someone’s butt? nonsense
Daft homophobe. You fúcking! B?tch
Iwe mariborelli, stop spewing sewer here! Very foolish !diot yourself. You are as ignorant as the homophobes!
just lease the constitution, whom are you trying to fool..
The trouble is we are made to rise againt the church and civil societies.These guys are Political Gangstars.The government is trying to make us go against the church.People be carefull
Are gay rights some of the reasons the PF regime is using to block the release of the draft constitution?
Wynter Kabimba and dictator Michael Sata should not behave as if Zambia is their private property.They should let the Technical Committee release the draft constitution simultaneously to Sata and the public.We don’t want delays and PF manoeuvres which will frustrate this important exercise.Gay rights or not the draft constitution should be released to us this month.Good governance will depend on the new constitution.
He had to come back! I began to wonder were he was!
@cindy
Who?
@St Jude,
Kabimba, you are funny.
First release the draft then we will know. Why the delay tactics Wynter?
Just how many draft constitutions will we Zambians see?
Praying and believing that this is not a tactic that is being used to incite the community, like others have mentioned why not mention the so called churches also this would have already been news in the media a long time ago. More questions, may the Lord reveal the truth.
For a lawyer, this man is exceedingly ignorant. As a minister of justice, well, what can Insay, but what a tragedy for Zambia! At the very minimum, people expect their minister of justice to err on the side of “justice”, clearly a term Kabimba is not very familiar with. How can people have confidence in a so-called Minister of Justice that takes sides in an issue? It is not about the socialized “cultural fabric” of a country; it’s about defending the rights and freedoms of all your citizens, including those who have make choices and decisions different from yours, mr Kabimba.
They fear Catholic Church
This thing has dragged on and spent so much that it does not sound like a DRAFT constitution ,its a DAFT constitution.
I thought the stage where inclusions and exclusions is long gone !! Each province, church body, NGO, etc had ample an opportunity to submit their propositions to the constitution committee a long time ago. Since then, the constitution making process has moved a long way towards finalisation and compilation of a final draft document! Sooooooo….why then, is Ka Kabimba duping and testing the waters of deception, by bringing up this issue of some churches pushing for an inclusion of gay rights into the FINAL CONSTITUTION???? Is the final draft in the process of being doctored as earlier feared by the masses????? A FINAL DRAFT was finalised loooong ago by the committee and Kabimba and his masters are still stalling…..and talking about inclusions and exclusions???? 90 days……………….
Political Gangsters are treating Zambia as if it is their personal ‘Kantemba’ !!! Stop toying with people’s feelings and lives!! People are not stupid !! Release the comprehensive people-driven constitution in which people contributed their expectations !! NOT a PF-driven constitution !!! You are just going to rule (plunder/dictate) for 1 or two terms (if you are lucky), then God will find a way to get the power away from you (just like MMD), and give it back to the people, who have the power to choose someone else !! The power belongs to the PEOPLE !! If you haven’t been putting the Zambian people first, I am afraid this power that you enjoy so much will be YANKED away quite soon !!! So tread carefully, especially as time speeds towards 2016 !!! You will have only yourselves to blame…
I’m concerned with all the hateful comments. As Zambians we need to accept that gay rights are human rights. To hate someone you don’t know because of what your pastor or parents tell you is wrong and very silly. Not to mention that it’s not very Christian. We seem to forget about loving they neighbour. Also, to say it’s not Zambian to support gay rights is also silly. If hate is based on ‘Christian values’ then you’re being delusional. Our ancestors were not worshipping as Christians. Christianity was adopted during colonial times. If we were taught to hate we can learn to love our brothers and sisters. Don’t hate blindly, it’s ignorant.
