The Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) has officially logged a complaint to the Electoral commission of Zambia regarding the weekend campaigns for the forth coming by-elections in Vubwi and Malambo constituencies
In a statement released to the media by Deputy National Secretary, Chembe Nyangu, the MMD wondered whether the president had taken over the role of ECZ when it was clear that the electoral body had not announced the dates when campaigns can begin.

RE: COMPLAINT AGAINST PREMATURE CAMPAIGNS IN MALAMBO ANDÂ VUBWI CONSTITUENCIES IN THE EASTERN PROVINCE
The MMD has noted with profound concern and worry that the pending elections in the two constituencies mentioned above are being proceeded by illegalities even before the Electoral Commission of Zambia sets the dates for nominations and polls as provided for by law.
The President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Mr Michael C. Sata, visited the two constituencies for no other reason than campaigning for Mr. Jacob Shuma in Malambo and Miss Miti in Vubwi. Does the visit signify that the head of state has taken over the role of ECZ and we can also start campaigns? There is no report that the president was checking or supervising development projects in the areas. The president, as a politician was in 100% campaign mood. The MMD, is a law abiding political party which is why we seek your clarification and ruling over this matter.
In your press release dated November 20, 2013 you announced that by-elections in Zambezi West and Vubwi constituencies were postponed because of court cases. Malambo constituency also has a court case. The president’s visit to the two constituencies implies that the president has information from ECZ that the two constituencies will hold elections together.
May you please help resolve this matter for the benefit of all political parties and other stakeholders in the electoral process. The MMD holds the Patriotic Front party and its candidates in contempt over this matter.

Cry babies ! Come on it is too early to start complaining.The president was just on official government business and not campaigns.

I am wondering how this man wrote this letter with eyes closed.
However, it is evident enough that the Law has been broken coupled with donations of money to women organisation during the same illegal campaigns. it follows then that Zambia of late does not tolerant illegal strikes etc and those found are dismissed. Therefore,the entire PF needs to be dismissed forthwith and fresh general election to held within 90 days.

Mr. Chembe Nyangu have forgoten that the presidency has privileges to hold meetings anywhere about the state of the nation, plights and needs of the citizens, as well as at any time give counsel and guidance to potential voters. It is you, who has limited privileges, though when you were once in power you abused them beyond repair that was why the whole nation replaced your party from power.

Our problem is that the president has so much powers. He only seen to be vulnerable when he is out of the office. If Sata was touchable, he could been nullified by now as a Republican president and some of the few points for his nullification are;

He forgot that he is breaking the law. Hence, the need to take the matter to caught for remedies that may include dissolving the entire PF regimes and allowing for fresh elections forthwith.
The constitution has not been defended, but brought to dispute, damaging the image of the country that which we were sworn to uphold.
Italian presidential material you are right. the writer of the letter had his eyes closed. sata has already dished out money and other inducements which makes this bi election null & void. court case should have been taken up because sata has breached the ethical code though his pf judges will not do anything for fear of losing thier jobs.
In Zambia even the custodians of codes of ethics break them at will. I was once told that “everything here happens provided you are not caught”. By the way this was a quote from someone who is supposed to actually uphold the law and enforce its standards. Is it a surprise that we have so many parallel and unpredictable standards?
The campaigns are going on even in Zambezi West . What impunity!!!!! The Disease Centres (DCs) of Sata drawn from all districts in the province have camped in Zambezi West for obvious reasons . And he wants us to respect them as Civil Servants. No. Maybe they are civil servants and us we are civil suffers. That way we shall try to co-exist . Shame .
