Government has embarked on the construction of ten (10) medium cost staff houses in Vubwi district at a cost of K30 million.

This was disclosed to ZANIS by Council Secretary Misheck Singambo when he toured the projects in Vubwi district yesterday.

Mr Singambo stated that in an effort to avert housing accommodation faced by officers sent to the area, a Lusaka based contractor Autuma has been contracted to build the houses that are currently at slab level.

He said the construction works which started in November this year will be completed in February 2014.

Mr Singambo has however expressed worry at the pace at which works were being carried out.

“Works started late and the pace at which the constructor is working is worrying and it is possible that they may not complete the works within the stipulated time.

    • my guy the total of the project is K30m meaning 30 billion old currency and 30 million rebased. is that hard to understand??

    • I guess there is misplacing of the figures. If the K30million is for 10 houses, then a K3million-worth house, rebased, must be a mansion. Unless the writer meant one hundred houses or K3million.

  1. Just because they will be bye elections there then the govt is in full swing to build house.Doesn’t that also translate to vote buying?

    • Nothing wrong with that, people will still benefit. Just educate you uncle on who to vote for, simple. Maybe more such elections more development in disguise. These days it does not matter in what form development comes so long there are no adverse effect anywhere

  2. Constructing homes when they are elections around the corner…just disgusting. Its no wonder we will never see genuine development in Zambia as an old leader only sees as far as the next election like what is happening. We deserve better than these cockroaches!!

  3. Constructing 10 homes when they are by elections around the corner…just disgusting. Its no wonder we will never see genuine development in Zambia as an old leader only sees as far as the next election like what is happening. We deserve better than these c**kroaches!!

  4. atleast they will be houses even if PF lose.So DONT JUST VOTE FOR THEM.Why complain when infact you need those houses.RB lost and he left behind some fats track roads which we are using.

  5. I read that there are some sort of projects being carried out in most of the 30 new districts that Sata created. This is not special for Vubwi and Mambwe districts. Let us think critically and conclusively before we post our comments. That is the reason our comments are met with criticism from some quarters. Let us think of Zambia first before we think of whether we are going to benefit from our political alienation.

    • Some chaps would rather have government officers sleep in the streets just because there will be a by-election in the area. What shallow thinking!
