Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says his clubs’ seven-day Copperbelt training camp a gesture of thanks for the talent Zambia has given to his team.
Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene and injured midfielder Mukuka Mulenga are in Sundowns travelling party to Zambia where they have set-up a one-week camp.
“We know where we are in Zambia with the history of Zambia on the Copperbelt and what the Copperbelt has done for Zambian football,” Pitso said during a press briefing at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Friday just hours after landing at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport.
“We don’t have to look far the president the Zambia Football association is from here.
“We are here to start a relationship we are here to promote our team also.
“We are also here to pay tribute for what you have done for Mamelodi Sundowns.”
Sundowns, who will be based in Kitwe, will be part of the four-club international friendly tournament that will be jointly hosted by Zesco United and Power Dynamos down the road at Levy Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Pretoria club will face Power in their opening game on Saturday.
And it is from Power that they bought Mukuka in August although the midfielder has yet to play for The Brazilians since joining them in August due to a long term injury.
Its not that we don’t like the story, but we are not commenting because we just want to watch football.
I salute Zesco United for this initiative. However, I am at a loss as to why Nkana FC is not part of the international friendly.
