MINISTER of Education Dr.John Phiri has said that money for the construction of Michael Sata Girls Technical Secondary school located 12 kilometres from Isoka administrative centre will be released this month end.
He said the Secondary school which is being constructed at at cost of about K47 million is among the 35 schools to be built.
“The projects of constructing 35 secondary schools was scheduled for last year but delayed because we had to finish old projects, we had projects from as far as 2008,” he said.
Dr.Phiri said he was confident that contractors will begin the 35 secondary school projects because Ministry of Finance has released K100 million from the K500 million budgeted for infrastructure.
“Ministry of Finance has realised K100 million for infrastructure and I hope delays in finishing projects within the stated time of about three years will be a thing of the past with the increase from K339 million last year to 500 million,”he said.
The Minister said projects should not be used for political experience to take politicians to office but they should be used to develop people’s lives.
“The previous government set a project of building schools in places which where not catchment areas saying the 103 projects where shared among the MMD leaders so that the can bounce back into power,” he said.
He said the Patriotic Front vision is to see a girl child get an education where it is accessible.
Meanwhile Muchinga provincial education officer Jobix kalumba said contraction of the girl school, which will cater for 500 pupils, is a positive development to the province.
“As a province we thank the government for thinking of building a girl school in Muchinga. We only have one girls boarding school in Chinsali.
And Covec construction manager Xu Dong Qung said construction will resume once government gives funds. He added that the time frame for the project is three years, 12 staff houses will be built.

Our school is named after a former leader of Zambia who dropped out of school voluntarily to spy on anti colonialists and sweep railway platforms. How inspiring.
He does not deserve to have a school named after him, but rather a Railway Station or a Police Post. I wouldn’t mind a district council in Muchinga Province being named after him since he keeps singing about having been a councilor in Bauleni compound.

This is the first time in Zambia we are seeing so much selective development with Muchinga having so many Projects while not even a project in some areas.In NWP only projects left by Levy;Kalumbila,Lumwana and Kansanshi can be toked about.What school have they built? What road have they done? Even the short road from Solwezi to the border with DRC is so horrible.chingola rd worse.everyone with money including the bazungus at Kansanshi would rather fly to Copperbelt or Lusaka than drive on that road and next day start repairing the vehicle.You need a medical check up after using that road twice.Not even the comfort of these big modern buses helps.Most transporters are shunning that route now.Ministers fly there for fear of kudwala ma back-ache.

Just wondering what calibre of pupils will come out of such a school named after a man who doesnt recognise education as key to national development. All graduates in civil service have been cut off from the priviledge of recruitment and retention allowances, no difference with pipo that have have not undergone tertially level of education! Masumba should not struggle to forge education papers, can easily get a job of his choice in our current leadership. lets watch the pace, God will redeem His own sooner than later.

The school shouldn’t be named after the uneducated person. Him opposed LP Mwanawasa after naming the chembe bridge that he built.He complained of naming person who is not from that particular area,which is tribalism.What about him,Is he from Isoka for giving a difficult name to girls secondary school ?
