Footballer of the Year award surprises Chama

Winning the 2013 Footballer of the Year award has shocked Red Arrows international defender Bronson Chama.

Chama defeated league top scorer and Nkana striker Ronald Kampamba plus Zesco United midfielder Kondwani Mtonga to win the top award worth K25,000.

The ex-Nkana and Kabwe Warriors defend has admitted that he never expected to win the award.

“No, I wasn’t expecting to win this award,” he said after the FAZ awards gala in Kitwe on Wednesday night.

Chama said he was honoured and humbled to win the award.

“I am humbled and greatly honoured to scoop this award – it takes hard work,” he said.

This was the first time Chama was shortlisted for the top Zambian football award.
