Zambia Land Alliance happy with President Sata’s call for more land for women

Share

The Zambia Land Alliance has commended President Michael Sata for directing the Ministry of Lands and the Ministry of Gender to ensure that women have access to land for economic development.

In a statement, Alliance Chairperson Ceaser Katebe said the directive if implemented, would see the economic status of many women change in Zambia.

Mr. Katebe said despite having the 30% quota system in place, research has shown that women in Zambia continue to be disadvantaged when it comes to accessing and owning land.

He said there is need to put in a monitoring system that will ensure that 30% does go to women.

Mr. Katebe has also urged women in the country to step up and come up with self empowerment projects to uplift and sustain their livelihoods.

And Mr. Katebe has also called on traditional leaders in the country who are custodians of customary land to ensure that they protect the land rights of women and youths.

During the commemoration of International Women’s Day on Saturday, President Sata directed the Ministry of Lands to work closely with the Ministry of Gender in ensuring that there is land to facilitate the construction of facilities for women enterprise development.

  1. YES GET THE LAND FOR FREE AND SELL TO THE MEN BECAUSE ITS THE MEN THAT HAVE MONEY, LADIES EVEN THEY HAVE MONEY ARE WAITING FOR A MAN TO BUILD THEM A HOUSE

  2. Does he mean PF women?
    Like father like son.
His son was saying parastatals should employ more PF youths not long ago.
It’s politics of deception as usual!
    Impeachment proceedings should start now!

  3. Though we appreciate the presidents call for Ministry of lands to empower women with land. The ministry that has been directed has no land to give out. Most of the rural councils like Kasama,Choma,Chipata and so on have no land to give out.The land is in either in private hands or traditional leaders. How will the Ministry of lands implement this good directive????

  4. These corrupt officials such as our president have denied Zambians of a better Zambia.
Indians have benefited due to corruption.
They are everywhere, corrupting government officials to grab even what belongs to a road or utilities leeway.
We thought this Sata_n was sensible enough. but nothing about him is sensible enough.Where are we heading as a country under the kinship of Noah. He is big headed for nothing. We shortages of roads someone sells a road to kavulamungu and put a warehouse where a road linking buyantashi and muzilikazi roads used to be.
