Chingola – Solwezi continues to be neglected-Mulusa

Former Solwezi Central Member of parliament Lucky Mulusa has bemoaned the continued poor state of the Chingola-Solwezi road.

Speaking in an interview Mr Mulusa said the road continues to be neglected even after so many pleas from the motorists and the public to have the road rehabilitated.

He described as unfortunate that no visible development has taken place on the Chingola/Solwezi road though the mines in Northwestern province contribute 20 percent to the country’s total budget funding.

He observed that living the road in its dilapidated state would be punishing the source of the country’s wealth hence the need for government to expeditiously rehabilitate the road.

Mr Mulusa further notes that the same road that is being neglected is paying for other road constructions and rehabilitation in other parts of the country through the minerals that are produced in Northwestern province.

Mr Mulusa also wondered if government had the mine that has been approved in the lower Zambezi in mind when approving for the Chirundu road expansion project.

” Approving the mine in a game park confirms that the only reason why they are constructing a road is because of the mine.
Why not service the mines that are already existing in Northwestern province and contributing 20 percent to the country’s budget funding”. He said.

Mr Mulusa in 2013 before his election as MP for Solwezi Central constituency was nullified walked from Chingola to Solwezi in protest of the poor state of the road.

  1. North Westerners please we need to fight hard for our province.Let us unite & fight for the development of our land. There is no tribe which is much superior than others in north Western we are all the same,so let us love one another & fight for development. Otherwise we will be remaining skeleton while building Muchinga and luapula.

    • he should have told the nation if the contractors have abandoned the road because recently the number of contractors working on the same Chingola- Solwezi road was increase to quicken the pace of reconstruction.

what has happened to the contractors?

can mulusa stop being economical with the truth?

    • Chingola – Solwezi Road is now an economic or international Road. It is not true that this road is used by people of North Western Province 90% of who dont own vehicles. The road is used by all Zambians and the international community. We have a lot of Zambians and non Zambians doing business in the West so GRZ can do well to do this road for all of us.

Talking about Luapula and and the Northern Province which are so far the least developed in this country will simply negate your very valid argument, as it will be judged as hatred of the people of these areas.

    • Imwe Ba Gen. The problem is that your source of Information the PFost or the Useless PF MPs masquerading as Ministers reported on thru propaganda media like ZANIS NEWS on ZNBC.

I just used the Solwezi Chingola Road this week. There is not even a single earth moving machine or signs of construction anywhere in sight. The only very very small road-building related activity in Solwezi is the putting up of a drainage from Mitech which has taken over 6 months for a stretch of 2 Kms.

  2. All leaders and parents from NWP should make educating our children/nephews our priority. The set minimum standard should be diploma level. This will enable us to take over the running of the province and its wealth in the next ten years.

We need more enrollments at UNZA, CBU, Mulungushi , Nortec, Evelyn Hone, Zicas and all the Trades and Skills training colleges throughout the country.

If we fail to do this, we shall continue seeing the Chinkulis and the Lamaswalas heading the boards of FQM and Barrick Gold, and our children will continue slashing grass and being employed as security guards. This therefore will be very damaging to the self esteem of all us from NWP.

    • Only the UPND which is friendly to the North Western people will help develop this province. Not PF bemba led by Sata the tribalist.

  3. this Mulusa chap is the only voice that NWP has. no wonder his seat was nullified. whee are other belly mps like that pf carde jean kapata to speak out for their province? are they ashamed to be from NWP? PF is also doing damage where the Chitimukululu and the pf cadres like chikwanda are silent. only GBM is man enough like this Mulusa chap.

  4. Quite economical with the truth, this Mulusa. Targeting a potential by election, if legal obstacle were cleared!

  5. Mulusa is 100% correct the road is bad I was almost involved in an accident last week due to very big pot holes am now forced to do my suspension of my car again

  6. That road wl only be done under a UPND government. If people of North Western Province expect PF is same as expecting a pig to fly to borrow from Winter Wabimba’s saying. PF have no interest in developing North Western province. Look there was a bit of movement through some hollow statement at the time Solwezi central seat was nullified and bye election became apparent and after Mulusa went to court all such hollow statements have dried up. Once a bye election become imminent again you will see the contractor will do one kilometre and abandon it after a heavy defeat PF will suffer at the able hand of UPND.

  7. There is no money in government confers its all been finished by the poor finishers (PF) for north western province its even worse.

  8. People, let us condemn with proper reasoning not out of hate for someone. Our ex-Presido who only served us for three years campaigned heavily on the Chingola – Solwezi Road, claiming to have done great works and rehabiltation of the same road. People with eyes saw the huge erected billboards and an amount of K17 billion (something like that) coming from the mines to have been used.
When I passed through the some road to Solwezi from Chingola in March 2012, I was only able to see filling a lot of potholes with clay and narrowing of the road by some pick and shovel contractors.
I failed to relate what I physically saw and the well painted road on the billboard beside RB head with a paused clock.
The current common men in govt have another version of the song to work on this road .

  9. Good point but these clowns are funny. They only speak for the people when out of office. When was he when he was PM?
