Mighty Mufulira Wanderers kicked off the 2014 FAZ Division One North campaign with a 2-1 win over Kitwe United at Shinde Stadium on Sunday.
Strikers Brian Ambungeni and Preston Musumali scored for Mighty in this Week One encounter in Mufulira.
Defender Andrew Tembo pulled a consolation goal for the Buchi Boys.
The win was a sweet revenge for Mighty who were last season beaten twice by Kitwe.
Elsewhere, right winger Green Mumba scored the lone goal that propelled Forest Rangers to a 1-0 win over Lime Hotspurs in the Ndola derby.
Kalulushi Modern Stars defeated their town rivals Chambishi 1-0 while Ndola Wanderers forced a goalless draw away at Chindwin Sentries in Kabwe.
The Ronald Mukosha coached-Lumwana Radiants thumped Grinaker of Chililabombwe 2-0 while Ndola’s Gomes Wanderers beat Mining Rangers 2-1 away at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
