It is almost impossible to resurrect a political party, Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe has observed.

Mr. Munkombwe who boasted of being in the political domain for 3 decades now said once a political party is thrown out of power, it loses its relevance.

He said UNIP and MMD are such political parties that are finished and would not come back to their former glory.

Mr. Munkombwe who was addressing heads of government departments in Gwembe this week said it would be utter folly for anyone to hope for a better political party than PF presently.

However, Mr. Munkombwe who is also Southern Province PF chairman pointed out that at some point, PF would also be phased out from the political landscape and another one would come forth.

And Mr. Munkombwe has said that he does not need favours from anybody as he was relevant, useful, and hardworking.

Mr. Munkombwe boasted that he had managed to work in the Kenneth Kaunda, Frederick Chiluba, Patrick Mwanawasa, Rupiah Banda, and now Michael Sata administration as he was undoubtedly useful and he is still going strong.

“We do not care where you come from. We care about how you work and your capacity to work. We can only care about where you come from when you fail to do the work correctly. Prove yourself. When you are given work to do, do it diligently,” Mr. Munkombwe told civil servants in Gwembe District.

He urged civil servants to desist from hiding in tribalism and further appealed to government workers to avoid being incited by groupings that he said do not mean well to the development of the country.

Mr. Munkombwe stressed that government was proud of the civil service as they were the engine of development.

The Provincial Minister further urged civil servants to work with the District Commissioner.

“Work with your DC. Let her finish herself so that you are not blamed for her failures. Nobody is an angel that is why we need to accommodate each other’s weakness,” he concluded.

    • Of all so many past presidents, I don’t see any name called Munkombwe. He is indeed irrelevant. Next time he will join PP.

    • Spineless beggar with no principles. If the Devil offers him a job he will take it!

Total lack of integrity. Eat while you can you dinosaur, your day of accounting for your bootlicking is coming!

    • “We do not care where you come from. We care about how you work and your capacity to work. We can only care about where you come from when you fail to do the work correctly……

Now that PF has failed we should care where they come from right? Munkombwe you are number one useless minister in PF, the first one ever to declare the belly interest above that of the people of the nation, shame on you.

    • this idioot called mukombwe is a disgrace to the old senior citizens. he is broke that is why he is boot leaking. he is busy cheating sata that he is delivering SP to pf just the way he cheated RB in exchange for a few coins. and the people he deceives are so dull to notice despite op officers to there disposal to sniff out the truth

    • This old man Mr Munkombwe is a let down to himsef first, his family(I don’t know how many wives,children,g/children,grand children,grand-grand children),Tonga pipo and the entire Southern Province. After his PF,Mr Munkombwe will never be heard of in politics-indeed,he himself, won’t resurrect. He’s talking about himself. No more belly politcs of no morals,no shame, and leaving no legacy behind in in these 3 decades.he is boasting about.

    • MUNKOMBWE IS A GENIUS MWANA, JUST AS HE IS SAYING HIMSELF. HE IS HARD WORKING AND A GENIUS. THE THING IS MUNKOMBWE CAN WIN AN ELECTION ANYWHERE IN ZAMBIA. HE IS COLOUR BLIND TO TRIBE, RACE, REGION, ETC. LIKE SATA HE IS MAN OF THE PEOPLE. VIVA BA MUNKOMBWE, VIVA THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA.

  1. Mr. “We are in Govt to eat”, the fact that you have been resurrected thrice in UNIP, MMD and finally PF is proof enough that there is possible resurrection of the two former parties. This is especially so with the bungling and ineptitude that your current temporally party exhibits. I am sure in your private moments you must be chuckling at the horrendous gaffes that you witness on a daily basis, from the top Chumbu to the useless fellow ministers!

  2. However, Mr. Munkombwe who is also Southern Province PF chairman pointed out that at some point, PF would also be phased out from the political landscape and another one would come forth. AND MUNKOMBWE WILL JOIN THAT NEW PATRY IN POWER!!

    • Indeed. It can only be achieved through, if UPND was to win, make an end of Munkombwe’s 3 decades of bootlegging.
Needless to say, seriously even “pausing” for a photo shoot instead of following the top agenda. I wonder if that scissors in his hands didn’t chop off his fingers? He’s nowadays running the ~Banioneh Banioneh~ bootlick party ?
Should politics be about photo gallery as Munkombwe unsubtly assumes?

  3. Ba Munkombwe, old age is supposed to come with wisdom than such lies and protruding ignorance. What do you say of the oldest Jeffersonian Democracy (Democratic party) since 1854, and Grand Old Party (GOP) the second oldest existing political party in the United States after its great rival? haven’t they been losing and winning elections intermittently since time in memorial? Kindly sign up for a night class at UNZA basic knowledge. It looks that your old age has not element of historic knowledge. very Sad.

Know that change brings dynamism and politics is about reconnecting with the masses and winning their confidence other than insulting them as yapping which you have subscribed to as one of Sata’s useless ministers.

    • Senior Citizen i get your point.Whilst to most pipo wisdom comes with age in old man Munkombwe’s case age came alone.
You old fool how can UNIP and MMD survive when they were full of belly crawling opportunists like you who dumped them after they lost power opting to follow the gravy train. It is because of pipo like you Munkombwe that it is difficult for UNIP and MMD to get back into power.

  4. A nation without history is dead. If the oldest politician of Ba Munkombwe has no basic knowledge of history, then we are in trouble. His statement is clear enough that Ba Munkombwe’s old age has no element of historic knowledge. Is it surprising that Sata can forget his social responsibility with the electorate whom he is now calling yapping dogs on their reminder to deliver the constitution? Very Sad.

Baba, in democracy voters can hire and fire at will regardless of the manipulations and name calling you may have launched against the them.

The truth is that you cannot manage to asphyxiate the people’s will power. Sadly you chaps have created a solid dangerous combustible atmosphere for a “socialist revolution” which could be spasmodic.

  5. This man needs to be put to pasture. ..political parties that “phase out” after ruling do so because they are in politics to serve their own personal greedy interests like yourself.

  6. When a political party uses an emergency exit to get out of power, it means it has burnt most of its bridges and; my not be able to get back into power using the main entrance. UNIP and MMD could be victims of their own folly, in this respect.

However, it is not true that any political party that exits power cannot emerge the winner in another election. As a matter of fact, even MMD still has a chance to redeem itself. They messed-up too much and stole too much; nevertheless, they could end-up being the better of two evils, when one considers PF’s unprecedented corruption record.

    • MMD were bundled out of power because of incessant corruption and UNIP because of disgusting ineptitude. Should any of these two political parties fail to re-ascend the echelon of power, it will because of the ugly legacies they left behind which are still continuing to haunt them, and not because of anything else. But why can’t PF learn from this and do things differently?

    • Zambian political leaders have a legacy to wallow in impunity for far too long. It is as though political power gets to their heads! What they have always forgotten and still seem to forget is that, as far as power is concerned, it is the electorate and not them as political leaders, who wield the power.

Kenneth Kaunda and UNIP never wanted to exit power. But they did and against their wish. It was painful, I can imagine. But the electorate had decided, and that was final. Recently RB and his MMD exited power under similar circumstances. It was as though they hadn’t seen it coming. The pain was unbearable. Interestingly PF are not doing any better. Must we not say that they are being “unwise”, for lack of a more politically palatable word?

    • With all due respect to the elderly statesman, “resurrect” is a less ideal prognosis of these parties. They were not dead when they vacated power, and neither are they dead today. One wishes they were. But they are not. They would have been better off dead than alive. The trouble is that they are good for nothing, dead alive political parties, that are still roaming the streets of Lusaka today.

Pulling the plug on them by way of ‘mercy’ killing would probably be a better prognosis.

UNIP and MMD’s predicament is one of reincarnation, not resurrection. They must conceive a way to re-engineer and recreate themselves and emerge with a fresh look that is salable; akin to what a marketer would call “reimaging”. Or must they commit suicide and die?

  7. Congratulations Daniel mwaabeba bafikala. Besides you in government under all political parties is me. I too have been in government under all parties. As long as you are eating mwana, there is nothing wrong with this. Tomorrow, you Daniel and we shall join Hakainde when he is in power!

  8. Why did grandpa Munkombwe not talk about the democratic change of power in USA. The Republicans and Democrats win and lose elections. Hence they are resurrected. Talk about the need for a new constitution badala. Otherwise you have to leave PF in 2016 for another party to continue to eat!!!

  9. He urged civil servants to desist from hiding in tribalism and further appealed to government workers to avoid being incited by groupings that he said do not mean well to the development of the country.

Mr. Munkombwe stressed that government was proud of the civil service as they were the engine of development.

  10. Leadership is about passing the mantle to others who can better perpetuate your vision. Nature is such that you can never go on for ever. So unfortunate the man
is in denial mode. He can do the nation a good service by writing his memoirs away
from taxpayers support. It is said that ” a good manager is judged by not how much he can do,but by how much he can do through other people” It is quite tricky to want
to be both player and manager; worse so when you miss to score a crucial goal.

  11. MMD, UPND AND PF ARE ALL NOT INSPIRING. MMD IS DEAD, UPND IS STILL TRIBAL, PF HAS SHOWN A NUMBER OF FAILURES.BUT PF IS A BETTER EVIL FOR 2016. THE DEVIL YOU KNOW IS BETTER THAN THE ANGELS YOU DONT KNOW WHO ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN 50 PC + 1.

  12. Daniel Mnkombwe along with Panji Kaunda are the biggest shameless worst political VULTURES to have evolved in Zambia. Apparently, 2016 is around the corner.

  13. ba munkombwe, with man it is impossible you are correct, but with God everything is POSSIBLE. Therefore, MMD is possible, and may God give u more years so that you see that it is POSSIBLE

  14. who can discover some disease to wipe away all these old fellas who are causing pain to Zambia..?we need fresh blood..

  15. My comment is not on the article but on MUNKOMBWE, ‘the politics of the belly man’. The man makes VJ seem like ‘Father Theresa’. When is he going to pass on the button. Am in!!!
