Nkana’s interest in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup is looking very bleak after drawing blank against visiting CA Bizertin at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe today.
Masauso Mwale’s side has now extended its goal drought to six straight competitive games in a period they have picked up five draws and a defeat.
The game was as sparkless as Nkana’s all-round form since March 8 when they last picked up a competitive win and in the first half against the Tunisians only had one good chance on goal.
Shadreck Musonda amazingly blasted his point blank shot over the bar in the 23rd minute with only Bizertin goalkeeper Ben Farouk to beat.
Musonda was about the only outstanding player in Nkana’s lineup and in the 54 minute forced the best out of Farouk again.
The second half was a slightly better especially after midfielder Kelvin Mubanga replaced underperforming and off-form captain Sydney Kalume in the 58th minute.
Mubanga was denied a dream start in the 62st minute by Farouk when the Bizertin goalkeeper saved his long range shot.
Musonda again tested Farouk in the 71st minute but the goalkeeper was again on hand to deny the attacking midfielder.
Nkana now need a miracle next Sunday in Bizerte to pull off a shock result and qualify to the Confederation Cup group stage that kicks off on May 16.
Nkana not yet ripe for continental football, this is very sad indeed.
Nkana is still raw in terms of continental football.Even locally they are not scoring do you think they will score in Tunisia?Another five zero bashing is coming on sunday in Tunisia.
Nkana is going to lose in Tunisia.they are not serious with their preparations.
Its better to discuss SATA than Nkana.Chamboli secondary football team would do much better than these headless chickens. We need an inquiry into this mediocre performance by Nkana and Zambian clubs.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
