Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has charged that Republican President Michael Sata has no message and agenda for the people of Zambia.
Mr. Hichilema says the move taken by President Sata today during Labour Day celebrations shows that he is not concerned about the welfare of the workers.
Speaking during the launch of UPND Youth Mobilization Programme which attracted hundreds of youths in Lusaka this afternoon, Mr. Hichilema says the youths at the moment are paused with a challenge due to the poor leadership of the PF.
Mr. Hichilema states that it is clear in the minds of the youths that they were deceived by the PF that they will be given jobs as seen with most of them remaining unemployed.
He says the agenda of his party is clear and that the first gift they will offer the youths of Zambia is free education for all.
The UPND leader furthermore adds that it is unfortunate that poverty is at the peak now since Zambia got independence.
He has maintained that the ruling PF has taken the rule of law and that the people should not give them more time and chance to destroy the peace of this country.
HH, don’t give us empty promises (i.e. free education for all) without telling how that will be funded. How different is that from Sata’s lies about money in the pocket, jobs for all etc.?

For once I agree with Mushata. HH is making noise like an empty tin. You are an accountant, analyse the budget and give the projected income and expenditure if you are in power and let the people judge what you are talking. How much you expect to spend on free education, where will it come from, how many jobs will be created in schools, administration, support staff, infrastructure requirements, how long will it take to build schools, class rooms, recruit teachers and so on. Do that or else shut up. Next time before opening your mouth give facts and gigures.
Only an extremely dull person would not see sense in HH ‘s message. Zambia has enough money to provide free education if only fiscal discipline is actioned by the executive.
The problem right now is that the PF has employed a lot foreign envoys to missions where Zambia gets absolutely nothing for the huge sums of money spent supporting embassy staff. This is one area where huge savings can be made to fund free education. In Europe for example we only need five embassies, in UK, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Italy.
Other areas where saving can be made is the cabinet. Reduce the number of ministers and deputy ministers . This can save billions from hefty allownces they get for doing nothing. Apart from that, the number of districts should cut down to manageable levels to save money…
What I have given is just a snippet of what could be done to find efficiency savings across all government department.
If government procurements are tightened then wast of resources can be drastically reduced and money can be saved to fund free and affordable education.
I can go on and on, but telling this to PF stooges is a shear waste of time.
Today Sata could not even address the cadres who attended the labour day celebrations for fear of being booed like many of his representative across the country.
UPND and HH means well for Zambia. HH is the only presidential candidate with a vision similar to Mwanawasa.
Come 2016, let usher UPND and HH if we want serious economic and democratic progress to grow in Zambia.

Winning elections is about galvanizing the voter out there and not making empty rhetoric in the media. Press conference everyday and the villager in sha’gombo has no radio and ve never seen a newspaper in their lives.

Go to Northern, Muchinga, Luapula, Copperbelt, Central and Eastern Provinces and check UPND popularity. Then HH can win if he is popular in those areas.
If you want to see how unpopular HH is please come to Lusaka times and not Watchdog. On this site they don’t delete or withhold from publishing any anti-comment be it against HH, Sata or whoever. On the Watchdog site anti -Hichilema comments are deleted and stopped from being published, therefore you will waste your time going there. Credit must also be given to Zambia Reports, they also don’t delete comments, neither do they stop them from publication

I agree with you Kaisane.I have been trying to post a critically factual comment against Hichilema on the Watchdog for the past one year but I have been unsuccessful. Non of my comments gets published. Or it will be put there briefly and say “your comment awaiting moderation”. Then after a few minutes it will be deleted all together. So Lusaka Times should indeed be commended

UPND should not complain that Sata did not make the speech on labour day. He was also boycotting the event just as they had directed
