Alliance for better zambia leader Father Frank Bwalya says it is a scandal for president Michael Sata who is the commander in-chief of the armed forces to miss the burial of ZAF deputy commander general Muliokela Muliokela.

Father Bwalya says Zambians should condemn the leadership of Mr. Sata to shun the funeral a day after going to court in a matter where he has personal interest.

” And what kind of leader is Mr sata who goes to court for personal interest and fails to attend the funeral of a deputy commander. We could have excused him if he was sick and had gone to the hospital or had gone outside the country or maybe he had an engagement which could not be cancelled” wondered Fr. Bwalya.

Fr. Bwalya further observed that what the president did by missing the funeral is a mark of bad leadership.

And prominent Lusaka lawyer Sakwiba Sikota on his facebook posting wondered why the General Muliokela was not accorded a national mourning when a District Commissioner in the Copperbelt Province was accorded one just a few months ago.

“What is surprising is that Major-General Muliokela was the Deputy Air Commander and yet his Commander in Chief (President Sata) did not find it fitting to declare National Mourning for this very high ranking commander who died in the course of duty.

If a person in charge of a district of Zambia can have national mourning declared for them and two young missionaries can have the same, surely a person who looked after our entire airspace Defence was worthy of consideration along with his fallen colleagues to having National Mourning declared.

Since their Commander in Chief, President Sata, was fit enough to attend to his personal civil court case yesterday, the least he could have done as Commander in Chief was to have attended their funerals or at least shown up at the funeral houses.”

And Constitutional Lawyer Ludwig Sondashi has charged that President Michael Sata conducted himself in a manner not befitting a Head of State when he appeared in Court in person to testify in matter he has sued the Daily Nation newspaper for defamation.

[pullquote]If the President feels aggrieved, he should allow the State to deal with such a matter as it is already in the Republican constitution that any malicious statement against the Head of State is criminal and the State itself is to prosecute anyone speaking maliciously against the head of State-Dr Sondashi[/pullquote]

Dr. Sondashi noted that the Head of State is protected from prosecution by the constitution and therefore should not be at ease to sue people at will.

Dr. Sondashi, who is also Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) president told Qfm news that a Head of State should be thick skinned to people’s criticism aimed at provoking him.

He said that if the President feels aggrieved, he should allow the State to deal with such a matter as it is already in the Republican constitution that any malicious statement against the Head of State is criminal and the State itself is to prosecute anyone speaking maliciously against the head of State.

And Dr. Sondashi has observed that the fact that President Sata decided to testify in person in court is unprecedented.

He said that he is of the view that the President should not have gone to court to testify in person when he has immunity from prosecution.

    • Guys I dont know why a normal person with 5 senses would think the way you are thinking. Couild this be the reason why some very wrong people have found themselves in positions of responsibilty simply because they attended one or two funerals.

Frank Bwalya is a divisionist. What the man is praying to see is Zambia to go on fire so that he can be proved right about Sata. The man is being unfair to Zambia.

    • Does this I.d.iot know the meaning of the word, Scandal? Attend the funeral yourself since you are unemployed with time on your hand!

  1. Sikwiba with his tribal lines…..Tell your barotse to give him a national mourning kaili muma ponta ati nichalo chano nainwe uko. In as much as its a big issue for the president not to attend the funeral, I don’t think it deserves all tht fuss. every soul lost is important so this national mourning doesn’t make him to raise up.

    • Should Saki not comment because the general was Lozi – and if he comments you label him tribal? Awe pipo let’s be real!

    • @Twende, I am completely dumbfounded by your tunnel vision on a non-tribal issue. Would you have said the same thing if Muliokela was a Bemba? Please mulekwatako ama manners ans steer away from seeing tribal tags in all things you useless scum bugs.

  2. Fake Priest, always preacging hatret. Such stupid clergymen where supposed to be castrated b4 anointing them. Thats y abortions are high among majority sisters. Leave the president alone or else more chibuku shall be poured on you.

  3. The President has supplied cannon fodder for debate on the inadequacies of our constitution. Just when we thought we had revised it thoroughly, issues of President attending court pop up. This only goes to show that a constitution MUST be a living document which should always be a subject of revision. A constitution can NEVER stand the test of time!

Fr. Bwalya for President. (He has just unveiled a serious national scandal!)

  4. # 2 and 3 , We know from the language that you are one of those PF cadres that were taught to use a computer recently to put across PF propaganda. You are the same person and unfortunately you are allergic to common sense.Everybody can see how corrupt Sata and his son are corrupt. The only thing Sata knows is tribalism and corruption.Everybody in PF are making as much cash as possible whilst Sata is President because he is crrupt.Zambia is worse than Zaire under Mobutu. All RDA contracts are subcontracted to Mulenga Sata and he then sells them to the same Chinese.Mmembe and Nchito know that it is the best time to make cash whilst this sick man is president. He does not even know what they post on his facebook page. What a disgrace, the economy is in free fall and the Euro bond is being shared

    • Yangu wat ever u call urself..tone down on your hating, its not mulenga sata,s problem that your father was catching utuni and playing malegeni when Mr. sata was busy making his cv until he got the presidency thanks to you the voters. Now tht u go Quote a job higher than usual coz u don’t have nzelu, wen they refuse ati. ni mulenga sata. u will die with chikonko mwana. jst work hard. jst saw a contract for waste management under LCC mu newpaper. try it otherwise u will be the waste I will be collecting next time I win the contract and take you to chingwele

  5. Mr. Sata is ill, although he stubbornly insisted on going to court. He probably was overdosed on some steroids to allow him attend an important court case.

  6. Father Bwalya – this is now being personal. Do you expect the president to attend every funeral of every important person that dies. I thought the vice president and ZAF commander were sufficient in this instance. There have been high ranking american and british officers killed in Afghanistan and I am yet to see the prime minister and Obama attending these private funerals. Please learn to criticise objectively

    • Amayama you are full of suit. Can’t you get it in your head that a deputy commanders funeral is not an ordinary one and the commander in chief needed to show recognition by his presence. Generals in America and elsewhere dying in Afaganstan are not commanders. If a commander died in the US, Obama would be there.

  7. i think mr bwalya just put your fingers on your ka group than just talk wat ever cames u talk , be a president and see hw it fil to be. came 2016 u goin to commit suicde ,

  8. Even though Fr Frank Bwalya is right that the commander in chief should be in attendance for the funeral of one of his staff, the cartel must be blamed for using Sata to portray him as being ok. The man is not ok at all, he is unwell. But those who are eating from him have made the situation worse, the man needs rest. He is human he can only take stress up to a point. Even though he mocked his colleagues(LPM-MHSR and GK-former Veep MHSRP) who were not well time catches up with all of us.

  9. From the reading, the only noteworthy comments are those from Dr Sondashi. That said, the timing of Mr Sata’s actions were ill advised and someone should actually take responsibility for that. As for national mourning I would be interested to know how a national funeral/mourning is accorded. What criteria are there? I only know about a State funeral for serving and ex-Ministers with discretion for freedom fighters perhaps. Who has information about the declaration of national mournings’ criteria?

    • I have visited Saki’s Facebook page and he asks the same issue of criteria that you are raising. Do you think a Commander in Chief should ignore the death of one of his serving deputy commanders?

    • I believe he could if he has a reason for it. If it were the Commander I certainly think he should certainly have been there. If protocol gives him discretion to appoint representation he certainly has within his rights to do so. When you consider closely there are matters of emotion, speculation, perception and protocol all bundled up in these discussions. I always refuse to stray. I would really love to know what criteria (protocol et al) are considered in these matters, otherwise it would appear he might be have been ill-advised

  10. Ba father frank BOMBWE bwalya if you do not understand how govt. operates, its better to keep you stinking mouth shut. If you think this kind of politics will win you elections, watapila mumono nangu mucisakati camuseke.

  11. @Twende,
You are extremely ignorant and beyond help. Its people with your mindset that makes Zambia are a very poor place indeed. Why should you glorify corruption?PF cadres like yourself are unemployed and are happy to get 1Pin a month to blog rubbish on behalf of the PF.The economy is nose-diving and you think its okay.I have a better job and a steady income than you and its a waste of time to educate an imbecile like yourself

    • hhahhahahahaahhhahah. keep your job sumba, Its good its paying you better than me. no need of insulting coz I didn’t insult. I wont take your lane of self praise. but I might jst be your employer.

  12. The only reasons i would think of Charles Katongo’s failure to attend the funeral are the he was either sick or because the general was Lozi. Had the General been Bisa, would he had missed the funeral?

  13. ba twende you are just showing how arrogant you are naimwe…… mr muliokela is simply deputy commander in chief am sure you know who the commander in chief is, so if his deputy dies and he doesnt pitch then decides to unconstitutionally walk to court in person…. is that HUMAN??????

    • On one had u say he is sick on another hand you want him to attend all the function. are you fair yourselves. Who doesn’t get sick. how many sickness do we have in our closet. my point abt saki is he asked a question based on tribal. he gave an example of some district administrator who was given a national mourning thereby putting your minds to put sata as tribal. FYI I aint a carder but I like seeing things differently

  14. fr bwalya you are to blame for these things you killed chilckens in support of pf coming into power and even accepted to be paid for what you did so what are you telling us today. though i agree with you to question sata s logic is it trabalism that non of these died there is not bemba all the same i still want to make you share this iresponsbility

  15. The man is not ok in terms of health. So i think we need to appreciate that he may not avail himself even at serious occasions. eg inauguration Zuma.

    • He is geriatric. Very few geriatrics are ok. It is a natural progression. I don’t even know why you guys voted for him (unless, like me, you are disenfranchised by simply living in the diaspora).

  16. Zambian opposition leaders for you. They never talk about issues and what they will do for the people but passing comments day in day out. What a use. less lot.

  17. This does not deserve headline news! Its trash from a hothead! Bring topics like KCM, forex rate, Maize harvest, fertilser distribution, fuel price, Boko Haram, Malawi elections. How many vip zambians have died since Sata became president & how many funerals has he attended? I only remember him attending Nakatindi Wina’s funeral whom he knew at personal rather than official level. Let him work not attend each & every vip’s funeral. He did that when he was in opposition to promote his political visibility to an extent that it was almost irritating. Remember How former chief Justice Enerst Sakala refused to shake hands with him at the requiem mass of lateSupreme Court judge Peter Chitengi at Saint Ignatius Church in Lusaka in 2010. Let HH & Nevers jostle for funeral limelight

  18. Grave tactical error by the Facebook President….It seems he has more time on his hands…why not just resign if the job is too big for you!!

  19. When I read what Fr. Bwalya and Dr. Sondashi had to say, I hoped that the PF zealots would not comment this time. How wrong I was. Everything and anything that MCS does from the queer to the bizarre can be defended!

  20. Its appointed for a man to die and thereafter face judgement.Whether we are accorded state funeral or not we will face our creator.Stop blaming the Head of State. He has advisers and other service personnel to access every situation funerals will always be there no wonder our Lord Jesus Christ said let the dead bury the dead. Are you a child of God if not this is you chance to invite Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life.Once you die you will go to hell and suffer for ever.Every soul is precious in the site of God.Suppose we have VIP DYING EVERY DAY THEN THE HEAD OF STATE YOU BE ATTENDING SUCH FUNERALS,HE CAN DELIGATE.

  21. How much campaigning are you internet noise makers doing? You complain of HE on Facebook yet he is showing what his Government is doing much to your envy of the progress the PF making.

  22. One wonders the meaning of opposition. opposition is really petty. Is this providing checks or being petty? Attending a funeral is big news? Why? From ashes to ashes you fools. Life gkes on!

    • By your argument President Sata is being petty when he declares national mourning for DCs or Missionaries. Are you saying we have a petty Prgsident then?

  23. The biggest scandal is how Zambians elected Sata as President. You can come up with a list of 100 attributes of basic instincts of a leader, and Sata will tick zero out of that.
What is good is that everything that Zambians were warned against Sata, has come to pass, and hoping some Zambians have learnt a lesson.

  24. Please get it right. The commander who died was deputy, and so, he directed his vice to attend. Does that make an issue? If order wasnt followed, chapels would have become churches.

  25. The commander was not supposed to FLY that plane he didnt get permision from SATA why accord him a state funeral, bola nipansi, MHSRIP
