ZAMBIA should move towards creating capacity to manufacture capsules for the Sondashi formula HIV/AIDS treatment drug, Health Minister Joseph Kasonde has said.
Dr Kasonde said the country at the moment could not go ahead with the clinical trials on the drug because the medicine was not packaged in capsules to regulate dosages.
The minister said the country had the research centre and scientists to do it but had no equipment to manufacture capsules for the Sondashi Formula powder.
He said this before conducting a tour of the laboratories at the Tropical Disease and Research Center (TDRC) in Ndola yesterday.
Dr Kasonde said there was need to have capsules for the Sondashi formula clinical trials, as it was the only way to determine whether the formula was safe for use or not.
He said the country had the capacity to produce the capsules if funds were provided to buy the equipment.
Dr Kasonde said Government would do everything possible to secure the equipment for manufacturing the capsules and called for support from interested stakeholders.
“There have been a lot of concerns from the public on the Sondashi formula. I have received a lot of questions on what the ministry is doing on the treatment that is believed to cure HIV/AIDS.
“We went to the Industrial Scientific Research Centre in South Africa to have the capsules manufactured, unfortunately, they have not succeeded. We contacted their colleagues in Ethiopia but they have not given as any answers, as for now, that’s our position,” he said.
He said the clinical trial could proceed after the formula is presented in capsules.
Dr Ludwig Sondashi, is the inventor of the Sondashi Formula 2000 HIV herbal remedy which he claims has cured over 400 people suffering from HIV after taking his medicine.
You can send it outside for packaging just for the purpose of clinical trials. if you can print ballot papers outside the country, who would expect you to make capsules. Just give it the same you do with ballot papers. You ‘ve been drugging you feet for too long. When South Africa was interested you jumped on the wagon with a promise of colossal investment. If it work why wait for capsule? We take sugar using spoon, salt same spoon, honey spoon, so whats the issue here? Is it just because its in powder form?
