NAREP Youth concerned with President Sata’s disregard to appoint youth in decision making positions

President Michael Sata Swearing in Mumba Kapumpa as Ambassador to South Korea today

The NAREP youths are very concerned on the continued disregard by the President to appoint youths in decision making positions as this can be seen in most appointments of Ambassadors and High Commissioners who are too old for this task and should be enjoying their retirement.

This is in reference to the recent appointments of Mr Mumba Kapumpa, Mrs Salome Mwananshiku, and Mr Solomon Mbuzi who have been appointed to serve Zambia in missions abroad and yet no youths are being appointed to go and serve Zambia abroad and indeed within.

This is the reason why all well-meaning Zambians will not vote for the same politicians who appoint their fellow friends and expect different results. NAREP with a new President, a new team and new ideas will foster to encourage more youth and women participation in decision making. It is very unfortunate that after 50 years of independence, politicians still disregard the youths who are the majority voters.

It is also inhuman that this government which tells people that it’s pro-poor would appear in the early hours and demolish houses in Mindolo Kitwe. Families have been inconvenienced and left in the cold with their children and as NAREP, we always offer solutions and government should start consulting us on how to address issues of national interest. We are not supporting illegality and we condemn the fact that these illegalities go unchecked for a long time. It is sad to note that the residents of Mindolo township have worked so hard to invest by building houses, yet their efforts were not considered by the Kitwe City Council who demolished their houses without regard to where they will be spending their nights when in fact land is given by government agencies through the Councils and Ministry of Lands who in the first place should know about any illegal land allocations. The government should have bought this land on behalf of the people from the ones they claim to be the owners or find alternative land for them and not destroy the investment people have put in.

In conclusion we would like to warn government not to go ahead with deregistration of NGOs as they will be punishing innocent citizens and not the NGOs. Government should be careful in the way they handle national issues. The minister should withdraw all deregistration letters sent to NGOs and engage them in dialogue. NGOs play a big role in this country and politicians should learn to appreciate the good work the NGOs are doing in our communities. Threatening NGOs with de-registrations is not the priority the PF should focus on but to create jobs for the youths and reduce the cost of living for its citizens. We urge government to concentrate on issues that will put food on people’s tables because running away from critical issues the country is facing will not better the lives of the people.

  1. Zambian youth only experience is in beer drinking and dependance, what do they know about leadership and decision making?

    • a mad person will always consider a fellow mad person normal and usually they will even engage in what seems to be a sober discussion. youths should not think the old will think of the young, on the contrally,so next time vote wisely imwe bachimbwi

    • @nubian, kaili echo bale nwilafye ubwalwa, because they are not entrusted with positions that will require their utmost attention. in short, they have nothing to do and being young, they are likely to engage in less productive activites like drinking. Give the youths an opportunity to lead, make mistakes while in leadership, solve problems and you will see a major change in the drinking patterns of our youth.

    • @matipa
      …you are right my dear…..
Action speaks louder than words…the message is loud and clear. Youths are being told that they are better off in formal employment, used to cause political confusion/demonstrations, for mobilising political rallies and chanting political slogans and above all…voting. That they must leave political offices to the old, mature and the ‘wise’ for their time will come when they also clock 68. They are indirectly advising the youth to lead a healthy life so that they live to ‘grow’ white hair on their heads and arm pits for them to qualify for certain political appointment…

Birds of the same feathers flock together……no further comment my lord.

    • I can’t believe a ” Nubian Princess”can be so naive! Anyway, the Nubians are also ancient so you wont really appreciate the young ones- they are too verile for you! You would collapse! Ma yo, na fwa, ye chapwa, nafuti, nakana!

    • President Sata knows their is a lot of indispline, and low calider amongest his youth cadres. Imagine Masumba, Miles, Kamba or Namulambe being take to foriegn mission, Zambia would have to change its constitution as regards citizenship cause these Chap would really plant alot of seed.

  2. Ubuteko bwaba kote.Youths have been marginalised in all areas of leadership. It is high time they demanded what belongs to them. The best demand is by voting for a fellow youth in 2016 elections.Old people should be packed in a museum as they have messed up the future of this country. They make decision based on conjecturing other than rational. It is folly of the worst order to think that a person from archive will think about developmental issues.Their time has gone.No wonder they have messed up our economy.

  3. The problem with the so called Zambian youths is that they love their more than any other thing. Not only do they love their beer but they also behave like cadres with scater brains hence it becomes difficult for the President to send on foreign mission. The President goes like ” why should I send this youth when he/s behaves just like Mbuzi or Kapumpa? I would rather send Kapumpa cause atleast he’s afraid of me unlike the youth who end up drinking the whole night some pub and fail to report for duty the next day. The youths Zed behaves just like Munkombwe, look at Chella and Hapunda..

    China obersves.

  4. Now you’ve let the cat out of the bag; so it is appointment in Diplomatic missions you are after. Elias Chipimo was born with a copper spoon in his mouth and had a privileged upbringing. You guys, like me, from the combony gear yourselves for disappointment because he has enough nephews and nieces waiting for diplomatic service.

  5. Beer and ama ule ba youth. When sent out, the first thing to check out is alcohol and prostitutes using ka settling in allowance. These are diplomatic duties and require maturity, forward thinking and strategy, knowing the history of the relation between your country and the host country. Also, it is an opportunity to facilitate business and investments for your country. But anyway, there are many youths who are up to to this responsibility. The other time, I saw an old diplomat from one country: he is bored and full of dirty talk. At least he was not from Zambia.

  6. Naya mukubelenga Tumfweko pantu ba LT bansensa sana. I got no choice except to read alternative trash. I have sent one comment 19 times and they are not publishing: Lekeni njesheko nakalast:
Limolimo ba LT bala sensa. like I have submitted a comment two times under different names but they are not publishing it. I was telling Mumbi at ba LT tabkwata ama sponsor and that they are not biased like imbwa imo ba Poshiti naba 2mfwecall. I even advised them to start a daily newspaper in Zed but I think they have a software prog that detects the mention of their rivals and cancels out the blog

  7. Naya mukubelenga Tumfweko. i got no choice except to read alternative trash pantu ba LT bansensa sana after I posted one comment 19 times and I havent seen it. Goodbye

  8. @China. You are a liar and possibly one of the cadres at the Zambian Embassy in China. Just take a walk and see how many young cadres related to the powers that be are at the Embassy. No qualifications at all. The only qualification is relationship to politicians period. Shaaa!

  9. Leadership is not acquired or given to someone by way of affirmative action but youths should demonstrate it outside existing structures. The existing structures already have leaders and youths should establish their own structure in which they should demonstrate their leadership skills.Take advantage of the majority numbers of fellows youths who would or are likely to back you up towards whatever objectives you would like to achieve. The problem you lack resilience so far exhibited by the old guard.Mind charisma plus good appreciation of issues at hand are some of the main ingredient coupled with apt articulation of question facing the nations and world at large. Not ati Ba SATA are blocking the youths when you cant even exhibit leadership in your own communities or amongs your peers.
