The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has described the continued saty in office of Justice Lombe Chibesakunda as an insult to young people in the country.

Speaking in an interview YALI Executive Director Andrew Ntwewe said it is saddening that the PF administration has continued to be adamant on the appointment of Justice Chibesakunda as acting Chief Justice as if the country does not have qualified people to the fill the position.

Mr. Ntwewe said it is unfortunate and an insult especially to young people in the country that the PF continues perpetrate an illegality in keeping Justice Chibesakunda as acting Chief Justice for close to 3years a position he said should be filled on a permanent basis.

He noted that president Sata realizes that keeping Justice Chibesakunda in office is unconstitutional but insists on having her in that position as if to dare the public and a way of telling stakeholders that he can do as he wishes and no one can do anything about it.

He called on president Sata to float a name for possible ratification by parliament as the country’s Judiciary can not continue operating with an acting chief justice as it lacks qualified people to fill the position.

  1. what a load of rubbish from this yali boy. who do you want pf to puy there as CJ? you want us to the likes of that banda boy from LAZ as CJ just coz he is youth. see where LAZ is today;no credibilty, no direction all coz a minor is at the helm. leave her alone useless boy.

  2. Just cite this boy for contempt of court, this matter was recently dealt with by a competent court and the matter is closed, the ACJ is not there illegally. just where do these under five NGOs draw their strength to question the judgements of the legally established institutions of Justice? Is this boy implying that any institution headed by an old person is an insult to him?

    • No wonder Zambia is heading nowhere with the calibre of people like you Chilankalipa. Don’t you see that there is something wrong in this appointment? If she was credible and qualified for the post why should she keep in an acting capacity? Please do not support illegalities just for the sake of supporting. What legacy will your lot leave for your children as to how to run a country by constitutional means?

  3. Young people can occupy any position, but certain positions are better left to older people because they require a combination of academic knowledge, experience, maturity, wisdom, stability, compassion and many other attributes which may not be easy to find in young people. Young Zambians should direct their energies on productive activities like designing and production of various Engineering products such software, roads, buildings, and so on instead of rushing to become leaders.
