Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata has said that his decision to contest the position of president in the Local Government Association of Zambia(LGAZ) is not motivated by him being the president’s son and that he was not being pushed by anyone.

Speaking in an interview in Solwezi, Mulenga Sata said that he did not chose to be born a president’s son.

“I did not chose to be born from the president. What is incumbent is for me to use my ability to do what I want. I am not trying to ride on the brand of the president,” he said

Mr Sata said he is confident of scooping the position of presidency adding that once elected,he will work on improving the affairs of all local authorities.

Four councillors among them ,Mulenga Sata are vying for the position of president in the Local Government Association of Zambia(LGAZ) elections to be held today in Solwezi District.

The other three are Ndola Moyor Samuel Munthali, former Livingstone Moyor Aggrey Njekwa and former Lusaka Moyor Daniel Chisenga defending the seat.

Meanwhile,Mr Munthali and Mr Chisenga said they were not intimidated with the president’s son decision to compete with them.

Mr Munthali said he was 100 percent confident of scooping the president seat and that he was not threatened by anyone.

He said if elected as president,he will work on improving the affairs of all councils.

Mr Chisenga said he was also confident of returning the seat.

He however, expressed disappointment to some party officials alleged to have imported thugs to disrupt the election.

“It is disheartening that some thugs have been imported here to disrupt the elections. LGAZ is a non Governmental organisation and it is non partisan,”he said

    • hmmm ba mdala ba mulenga. then why is it that you have started vying for these political positions only after your father became president. where were you when your father was in oposition? we didnt even know you existed. Please just shut up and learn to be humble. Enjoy the spoils and dont think us fools and insult our intelligence by making such useless statements. kalyeni breakfast na lunch ku state house while you still can and be thankful for what you have right now.

    • You are right, He was not as the son of a president. It goes to show how these people say things they don’t even understand. May be the time he was born his father a rail way station sweeper in London.

    • Ati I did not choose to be born from Sata, if I had a choice I could have been from someone else….
If I was his father I can delete him from my will.

    • Kati pali naba president. The chap has just been sleeping in state house since he was elected and you call him a president. President only for useful idioms, not me. Mulenga you have nothing to boast about. I would be ashamed of myself if I were you. When did you ever use your abilities to do anything before your father got this erroneous vote.

  1. Your father has no brand to talk about. Citizens frown at the mention of Sata because we all thought he was a liberater only to turn out oppressive . I personally love sata . I fact i voted for him. but i dont like his tricks now. He thinks we are stupit to have put him there.

    • Any person using logical thinking should have known that all the promises made are just a election “gimmick”. Or to quote Hon. Kambwili, only stupid people believed in our election “gimmicks”.

    • @142: What is your rationale? What point are you trying to make?? Must we not take politicians seriously for what they promise to do if they are voted in? Is that your rationale?

    • @142; Notwithstanding the hard reality, which I presume, you are trying to postulate above and below, the current level of discontent among Zambians, against the raw deal Mr. Sata is handing to them, seems to suggest that, many among those who voted for him, did actually take him seriously, that he would and was capable of delivering on his campaign promises.

Had Mr. Sata any grain of morality, he would at least, have been humbled by this reality and repent. Contrastively, he is clearly unnerved. He doesn’t care. Or does he? He seems to have no regard whatsoever, not only of the substance of his campaign promises which he has failed to live up to; but much more so, of the on-going cry of the people. The man, simply has no remorse and heart, period.

  2. @ 142 Stupid or not you too must wake up to the reality of high fuel price, high mealie meal price, depreciated Kwacha, high cost of living to sum it all up. Don’t come out here and act like you are a saint who isn’t affected by this…..malabishi bati

    • Cool down. I was just quoting. Now, who has supported blindly PF and believed in their promises should also accept the blame. After all, in a functional democracy, each people merit the Government they have elected.

    • @142: You seem to be saying that, people ought to have known who the real Michael Sata was, despite what he was promising to do for them. In other words, no one should have taken Sata seriously and use his campaign promises as the reason for voting for him. If that is what you are saying, then you are probably right.

No theorist has thus far been able to provide a clear explanation as to why people, en mass, decided to vote for Mr. Sata, while knowing fully well that they were recruiting a diablos to take them out of hell fire. For scripture says: “When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44. Those of us who voted for him, ought we not have known any better?

    • @ Mei Matungu

It is not question for theorist but of general knowledge.

If for a moment we forget past 30 months and look at the promises made it is evident that such promises were never expected to be effected.
Creation of 2 million jobs in a single economy which heavily relays on imports for its survival. Just for comparison, during the same period UK economy has not created such number of new jobs.
More money in your “pockets” begs for question: From where?
      Do you need more?

  3. Mulenga Sata, why did you not rise to prominence before your father became president? Walatumpa nomba ,2016 is not far away, will vote for him alone naka wynter kabimba.

  4. Yeah we hear u. aint trying riding on your fathers brand but u are actually riding on it. trying en doing it is two different things

  5. MULENGA SATA IS SOBER MINDED, HE IS STATE MAN LIKE, VERY CALM AND COLLECTED, I WOULD PERSONALLY HELP IN MAKING HIM ASCEND TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE LAND. LETS GO MS. YOU ARE NEXT.

  6. Who are you kidding my brother???? You were a nonentity just yesterday. You are in the lime light because of your father.

  7. I seriously do not see a politician in Mulenga Sata he lacks the Charisma and inspiration. is he even a leader??He should have emulated RB”s children.

  8. Listen to this clown! What brand? A son of a president who will go down in history as the worst that ever ruled Zambia.

  9. Ba Chisenga, is this not the man you gave way to as Mayor? I hope by claiming that some people are importing thugs, you are not conceding defeat already? In any case, what are thugs going to do, force people to vote for someone not of their choice? Agony is giving away your two offices to the same person.

    • @mailosi,according to the council by laws ,all mayors are of 2 terms only,mr chisenga was mayor of Lusaka since 2010,during mmd era but as a pf councilor. As for sata speed kills.

  10. This Mulenga is unstoppable…. This is his time and sooner you accept the better . Some facts of life ….We saw this in many countries DRC , Senegal Etc ,otherwise he is wining the elections .The important thing is to manage the aftermath of the Brand’s exist from power .
    your comments please !

  11. This guy has got it all wrong, Sata name isn’t a brand at all. It’s a cursed name alongside scary ones like Hitler, Cain, Nimrod, Mengele, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Idi Amin Dada, Emperor Bokassa, Pol Pot. These names evoke nightmare memories of very evil deeds. He should create his own brand by first deleting ‘Sata’ from his name and replacing it with something less malicious sounding. He would then have made a head start in branding himself.

    • Not all eyes that are open can see. Travel and see developmental projects taking place through out the country. For the first time in the History of Zambia Farming inputs have been distributed before the harvest of the last farming out puts. Wake up and see. The Opposition is not there in Zambia. UPND is a regional/tribal party as they call it and MMD is now confined to Eastern Province.

    • @Njalamimba Musonda, Mulenga S.atana is better off adopting his mother’s surname
from Nyasaland maybe things will help a bit otherwise forget Mr wine and Dog smuggler!

  12. Oh my foot!!! From Dog-Seller to Mayor of Lusaka in a few months & he wants to fooI us that it has nothing to do with his dad ‘brand’ of fake promises!! We’ll see how long he’ll last after his dad has left office.

  13. what then do you want him to do.seat home and drink.Life is about takibg opportunities and we all do that one way or another.

  14. Some of you insaulting the present for no reason, you are simply cursing your self. He is a leader apointed by God, but you want to insault him just because you never voted for him. I can not insult HH, but I can never vote for him. So you are the same people who insult your parents.

    • absolute buffonery. Ati he was appointed by God. Which God are you talking about? I hope it is not the lies that have been fed to you by the whites that Jesus is the christ and that he is one of the blessed trinity. Wake up, the world is changing fast. The God theory has long been debunked well atleast the God presented in the so called bible. A book so manipulated to instill fear in the people. At there is a being up in the sky and he hates the being underground called the devil. Just listen to the sound of that crap. Wake up!!!!! no wonder tulechulila. Read the bible carefully and tell me that it is inspired by an entity which is perceived to be God!!!! The bible is a plagiarised manipulation created by the council of nicea in 325 A.D to keep the common man under control!!!!!

  15. Nauwina becos your father is a president wayamba no bufi ilyo twaleshitishe mbwa you were always honest. Efyo shabe mpiya ngashafula no bufi bulakulilako. Finshi mulenga wingatubepa. Your lies are hollow. your father has failed the people of zambia 100% he is now a dictator. cumbu munshololwa.
Mukaya boi nawiso utekanye, elyo ulelila limo pantu cikesa kubipila ka.
Ulolele wiso nga afumapo palibu kateka ( pali bukwindi ) ( kateka mu cibemba ni kwindi koswe ulya uwa munzubo. ukulya no kuputilila boi. But ubufi uleke ifintu fika cinja. Cimbwi no plan. Monkey in a maize field. Useful *****. U will go back to selling dogs when times cathes up with you. eat quietly otherwise wimeka.
Apo uli nisankata noko acilipo that is what bembas say. tefyenu ulilelimo.

  16. No one is insulting the president except expressing their views, what do you want them to do kiss $ss like you, their is no brand here but someone is getting greedy, and moving to fast, how is he going to manage all those positions, is there only one capable person in the whole PF, forcing others to withdraw is dictatorship

  17. Which brand? The donchi kubeba brand? Offcourse it won’t work this time around.

  18. Mulenga has the right to contest any position in the country and he has the leadership qualities of a great leader. The position of ULGaZ president will expose him to the whole country and those who still doubt him. Go we are behind u and he will make it.
