Zanaco face Arrows test

Leaders Zanaco seek to maintain their top spot in the 2014 FAZ Super League as the campaign reaches the half way mark this weekend.

The Bankers host Red Arrows at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday hoping to collect maximum points in order to preserve their position in the league in case their closest rivals Zesco United and Power Dynamos win their respective Week 15 matches.

Zanaco are on top thanks to their superior goal difference as they are tied with Zesco on 30 points whille third placed Power are three points behind.

The Aggrey Chiyangi coached side have never beaten 9th placed Arrows at Sunset since 2006.

“I know it is not easy to play Lusaka derbies because they are always tough but we are going to work hard. We will make sure we beat Arrows at home,” Chiyangi said.

Arrows have not won in their last four league matches and are smarting from Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Nkana.

On the other hand, Zanaco have only picked one point from their last three matches.

Elsewhere, Power travels to Mazabuka to face Nakambala Leopards at Nakambala Stadium.

Nakambala host Power just three days after ending Nkana’s unbeaten run in the league with a 1-0 win in a midweek delayed match.

In Kitwe, vanquished Super League champions Nkana host National Assembly at Nkana Stadium hoping to bounce back from their loss at Nakambala on Wednesday.

Nkana must beat Assembly to be in the top six as they fight to qualify for this year’s Barclays Cup.

The Wusakile side are seventh on the table with 20 points, just a point below Assembly.

In other matches, promoted Indeni will host limping Green Buffaloes in Ndola while Konkola Mine Police will welcome Nchanga Rangers in the Konkola Copper Mines derby in Chililabombwe.
