Former President Rupiah Banda has no intentions of coming out of retirement to contest for the presidency, his office has said.
This follows suggestions by some politicians in the opposition that Mr. Banda is planning a political comeback ahead of the 2016 elections.
But the former President Deputy Administrative Assistant Kennedy Limwanya told QFM News in an interview that Mr Banda’s retirement from politics stands.
Mr Limwanya said there is no truth in the suggestions that Mr. Banda is plotting a political comeback.
He said it will be unfair for anyone to start circulating such reports about the former President when he has been away from politics for a long time.
Mr Limwanya said Mr Banda is in South Africa concentrating on his medical reviews and is not privy to such.
Where is he down here? I know its one of the Joburg hospitals. I want to see him
great RB!!, leave him alone to enjoy his retirement,,,,,,,, he does not dance when a sitting president is sick, ill or dying in anticipation of becoming a president like other people were dancing when mwanawasa was dying,,, karma is a b!tch so they say,,,
,
and at least his medical review is not a secret working holiday,,,,,,,, please people pray for RB so that his medical reveiw goes alright!
He is too old. Let me sata go on for another terr
RB should remain retired he is older and slower
Thanks
Zambians can even vote for RB because they lack reasoning of any kind when it comes to important matters unless you start talking in terms of Mosi ne michopo!
Thieving Ala Bee, arrest the chap.
Maxwell where have you been, not that i missed you, ah your dislike for RB.
We have heard that before, this fossil is just waiting for an opportune time and he will come out.
Ati bakolwe ba sekana ifipato. How can RB be a fossil if he is even younger than MCS? In 1991, KK was 67 years old and MCS said he was too old to continue ruling. Meanwhile, MCS entered State House aged 70+
@1.2 Mushota – Michael Sata is older.
Wishful thinking, let the big man enjoy his pension.
Ngaifwe tukateka ko lisa. Ikalenifye bane. Whatis RB looking at in the picture above?
Wise decision bashi Mpundu.Coming out of retirement techakwesha. Preserve your dignity by staying out.
Ba LT chizungu
RB has no intentions of coming back.
We don’t need RB HH is our only saviour
@hb-Please speak for self-Say:HH IS my ‘saviour’ and NOT ‘OUR’ saviour.Salvation is not brought by a person like hh without Love and compassion.I’ve never seen this man smile.Even his face shows hypocricy-That’s why he is known as Hypocrit Hyponotized(HH).Maybe his association with the Free Mansons makes him not to smile, because to him that can be hypocricy.
@mubita the truth hates. hate the more u like but hh is the hope for now.
and no one mentioned your name sir in above post.
@Mubita,
Talk about a smile, how about Sata who can’t even smile at a smiling child instead he looks like a scarecrow?
its very unfortunate that even RB now looks more of a saint because of these riffraffs who have mismanaged the economy down with lies in the morning, lies at noon and lies in the afternoon. imagine lies even to their wives and children. very stupid gang indeed. bamudaala just continue enjoying your retirement we need a new generation leadership no more fossils.
RB president for all
He is wise on this occasion, no more monkeys playing on his head – nakana kanganitundile!
At least he has a sense of humour!
Bring back our RB
RB made his money.Sata has made his money. Its not about service. dont be fooled by any one. Sata made promisses and we are judging him by his own word. Chipimo has promissed renewable energy. Let HH tell us what he will do whether truth or lie. Period.
At last RB has realized the name Banda doesn’t guarantee more than half term presidency, both in Malawi and Zambia, it’s a cursed name for leadership. But at least mwaiche wandi, apapena walangisha amano. You are just that little bit more honorable than your compatriot, currently on ‘working holiday’ in Israel, to decline the invitation to get out of retirement.
@mubita the truth hates. hate the more u like but hh is the hope for now.

The Zambian we never knew is becoming clearer and clearer. The tribalism being exhibitted by some quarters is gravely unfortunate for the nation especially the pro- Sata group. If not quickly and properly checked, it is very probable that there will be turmoil in the near future because we are sitting on a time bomb which is growing bigger and stronger every second. 14 Million people is quite a small population which cannot constitute to that but unfortunately, the people who have promoted this dirty scenario are the many useful i.d.i.o.t.s that we have in government.
Read the Watchdog which displays unfettered tribalism on a scale that boggles [in this day and age] – even the editors are selective in their posts, giving a huge platform to any illiterate who sings praises of HH purely because of his ancestry. HH might have a slight chance of winning the presidency if he distances himself from these tribal followers, particularly the Watchdog, because all it serves is to alienate the rest of the country. And no, this ‘ticking time bomb’ has been manufactured by the imbeciles who believe that hurling insults framed along tribal lines will win them votes. The ‘i.d.i.o.t.s’ in government can be removed through rational thought and democratic process [presumably] but eradicating tribalism should be shared by everyone, regardless of where you hail from!
Thank you Mr. Limwanya for being truthful. RB is in South Africa for MEDICAL REVIEW. This is better than telling a lie that he is on a holiday and lying on the beach in that country.
After a comparison of the two, I will definately giverb my vote. He was a better president he continually communicated to his employers unlike the man I proudly and now regret having voted for.
@1.4 Fat faced Maxwell
Any latest about your hero president Dictator Machael Mwango Chalie Chilufya Sata.
Where ever he is on holiday, should cut short of his leave to come and sort out the mess he has left behind, Zambia is left without clear presidency, senior PF ministers are not obeying Kabimba as acting president, Chikwanda’s position appear like acting president, Guy Scrotum is spewing offensive commentary to indigenous Zambians and government is running out of cash creating clashes between Kambwili and bushy Fackson Shamenda. If he does not return voluntarily Zambians will be forced to opt for other means to recall him.
Leave our RB alone. The PF kangaroos should just concentrate on praying for their melting “CHIKANDA” to apply for a 1st-class seat in Hell.
Actually RB is a better devil than the monster on a ‘working holiday’ in the Israeli intensive care ward.
Takusowani kuno ku Mudzi Bwana, Lupiya yemweyo kuti wa! Wa! Wa!
They don’t rate leaders but if they did, the sequence would be:
1. Kaunda
2. Mwanawasa tied with RB
3. Chiluba
4. Who ever the next president will be
5. The one after that.
#OneZambia
Why not, the highest growth rate and forex reserves happened to be in RB’s short tenure. He has his democratic right to contest for Presidency. We the people will decide who to vote for and let the best candidate win, be it Kabimba, Sata Junior, Kambwili, HH, Chipimo, Bwalya or RB.
Is it true that KK and RB are Malawian, Rupiah should have resigned to give chance to favourites as demanded by top Political leaders with the same circle. Zambia and Malawi shares the same political roots.
