Farmers in Mbala district have complained of bad sanitary conditions at the main Food Reserve Agency (FRA) depot.

A group of farmers led by Wenick Sichinga stormed ZANIS offices today to complain over the unhygienic conditions at the FRA depot.

The farmers said there are no toilets at the depot and hence they are forced to answer the call of nature in the nearby bush.

Mr Sichinga said the delay by FRA to buy their crop has caused a lot of suffering on farmers.

And a survey by ZANIS found that farmers are spending their nights in the cold waiting to sell their maize to FRA.

Efforts to get a comment from the District Commissioner proved futile as he was not in his office during press time.

The farmers have since appealed to the government to intervene in the matter and ensure that the FRA speeds up the purchasing of maize and improve sanitary conditions at the depot.

  1. There is no word in English known as “Insanitary”. Probably ba editor, you meant “unisanitary”. Benefit of doubt

    • @St. Jude:
Are you mad or your brain isnt simply working? You have just soiled yourself due to your own foolishness because that word actually exists!! Where did GET that grammar of yours?
According to Oxford Dictionaries – insanitary – Line breaks: in|sani|tary and Pronunciation: /?n?san?t(?)ri/adjective MEANS So dirty or germ-ridden as to be a danger to health: insanitary conditions.
You can now wipe your*** – foolish cunt!! lol!

  2. @ St. Jude. Imwe na imwe the word ‘Insanitary’ DOES exist. Please verify these issues before you post. Otherwise you end up exposing yourself unnecessarily. But coming back to the issue, this is a genuine and the authorities need to do something pronto.

  3. This is the illness that you get when you appoint people in positions that they have no clue about. These farmers have been sweating it out to produce food and keep the PF run away inflation in check but alas they seem not to understand all this. The result is what we are seeing today. Last year these farmers in Mbala received basal fertilizer in January- February instead of November, this should tell you something about the party in Govt. It is also important to mention that some of these farmers did not receive an so called PF-Govt farmer support, they used their own borrowed cash. But today they are being treated like wood. Very very sad indeed.
