Midfielder Rainford kalaba has received praise from Zambia coach Honour Janza after captaining the side with distinction in last Sundays friendly win over Sudan in Lusaka.
Janza made a bold decision to hand the TP Mazembe midfielder the captain’s armband for the first time in Zambia’s 3-1 friendly win over Sudan at National Heroes Stadium.
“He showed leadership outside and on the pitch,” Janza said.
“It will always be a great honour to himself that he captained the team and guided the team to victory.”
Kalaba is expected to be Zambia’s key man in midfield against Mozambique in Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup group F qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Ba Kalaba ni ba kasai nomba.
Just leave my young brother alone please. He is not Kasai but Zambian.
Janza don’t look back, Kalaba is the new captain. That Chris Katongo who bullie local player, his captain-ship went with the French people.
-Captain = Rainford Kalaba
– Vice captain = Jacob Mulenga.
Atleast team should be laughing for once.
Not Katongo and Mweene who always talk behind each other.. they have no chemistry. Even the celebrations after scoring last week were more exciting than those somersaults and refusing to be touched, with silly dancing .
Who is Jacob Mulenga?
@JJ, I dont think you are a Zambian.
Ba Mupa really impressed me, hope you will hold onto the arm for sometime in future..
kalaba is not a goal scorer like CHRIS KATONGO, In soccer a CAPTAIN is a person who shall always be dependable to score and rescue the team, now kalaba failing to score a deciding penalty in AFCON 2012 ONLY TO BE RESCUED BY sunzu THE CONGOLESE, how do you make such a pikinini as a Captain. Iam glad the coach is not saying kalaba will be captain, iam sure its CK
