Scores of fans left Levy Mwanawasa Stadium disappointed as Mozambique held Zambia to a goalless draw in the two sides opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifier in Ndola.

Chipolopolo failed to crack the stubborn Mambas and missed the few chances they created in the match watched by Republican vice-President Guy Scott.

Striker Jacob Mulenga missed Zambia’s best chance in the match when he saw is close range shot stopped by Mozambique keeper Ricardo Campos in the 44th minute.

It took 40 minute for Zambia to shoot on target as Ricardo stopped Chisamba Lungu’s long range effort.

In second half not even the introduction of Collins Mbesum, Mulenga Mukuka and Fwayo Tembo helped Honour Janza’s side to win.

Mozambique too had chances to shock Zambia which they wasted.

Second half substitute Helder Pelembe had his close range shot stopped by Kennedy Mweene to deny the Mambas a late win.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s next 2015 AFCON qualifier is on Wednesday against Cape Verde away in Praia.

  1. The draw was as bad as a loss. Mozambique know to expect a loss any time they come to Zambia so for them this was a victory. Our coach was completely out of his depth. There was no change of tactics from first half to second. Our energyless team played clue less football. They had probably one plan: kick the ball forward but don’t attack. Yes they couldnt plot any attack! Any amateur could have predicted all their next moves. There’s still time to get a world class coach.Janza or Chansa is a good assistant not a coach

    • if Ronaldinho,Kaka and Robinho were Zambians, they could still be playing in the national team. but they are still quality players..ninshi izi midala zatu zakudala zimaosha kuti ziziteya che???? f##k u manje pela,we need FRESH players.this is not 2012!!

    • IF WE LIKE THE RESULTS WE ARE GETTING LET’S CONTINUE DOING WHAT WE ARE DOING. AND IF WE DON’T THEN WE MUST CHANGE OUR WAYS! On Thursday I blogged and warned about the danger of ‘Mozambique having done their homework this time around after losing so many times to us, and that’s exactly what happened yesterday. Janza’s credentials as a qualified coach may NOT translate into any success on the pitch if he continues to play NAMES instead of SKILLFUL AND EFFECTIVE players. To me, the problem is now even bigger coz it’s not only about failure to score, but also a poor defence!!! Why are we scared to do the right thing? Senegal, South Africa, Cameroun and most other teams have replaced their older players with new blood and doing very very well. If nothing changes, I see disaster in Cape…

    • Janza, it’s your first line-up that wins the match coz there are ONLY 3 changes you can make in 90 minutes! But we know that Jacob Mulenga or Emmanuel Mayuka need 10 chances to score one. We also know that out under 20 side has very good boys who have the pace and zeal to take Zambia forward. Agony is to lose or draw coz you can’t use what you have!

  2. And you expect to win just because you won in a warm up last week…how laughable. When we tell you that you are not going anywhere under the corrupt selfish empty suits in Football House.. .you honestly think these thieves will ever give you the best coaching staff.
Wake up from your docility and passivity! !

    • That is wishful thinking …so long as the corrupt Galu and co are in Football house that is unlikely to happen. Progressive coaches are professionals, professionals can not work with thieves who do not pay staff.

  3. Zambians you were busy insulting me (Hervé Renard) but see how your local coach is performing. Do you think that you will go anywhere like this?

    • HR will always be a PE teacher …..his stats for Zambia speak for themselves…just like he did at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, Ivory Coast is going backwards…the senior Ivorian players will expose him.

    • @ Jay Jay, did you know Janza is a PE teacher as well? I think he was primary school teacher, where did Janza play football?
If want local coaches then employ Zeddy Saileti and Tenant Chilumba, they will bring some excitements.

  4. Lets NOT use names am saying this because some players are big headed they can do what ever they want meaning they are not commited coming anytime ku camp. Displine must prevail lets not names

  5. Yes local coaches can deliver e.g GOERGE LWANDAMINA because of experience he has in the pitch meaning physically and practically he ca bring back the glory to our country NOT Janza. Ministers and FAZ President should go and discuse before its too late

    • You honestly think your FAZ president will bring in an outsider….these people failed to pay the assistant PE tutor Patrice for 6 months!!

  6. I had said, the performance of this team against Sudan might have misled a lot of Zambians. Coaches who are not competitively appointed but simply ‘annointed’ rarely perform.
I have seriuos reservations about Janza, and I said it before the game even kicked off.

    • Janza is NOT the Problem!!!
Ive said this, You can check under name Keleni tasa akete, before L.T. decided to block me for no apparent reason, as id Never used abusive language, like some bloggers who are allowed free abusive reign.
Back to the point, even if Sir Alex Ferguson, or the Guy who managed the German world Cup winning side, were to come & Coach Zambia, we DONT have the Raw Materials-(Players), & the result would be the same.
PLEASE LETS NOT MAKE POOR JANZA THE NEW SCAPEGOAT LIKE HERVE’.

  7. Where is the team that I watched the last weekend?
Don’t make me reckon the perfect performance displayed during the game against Sudan was only a fight for places in the national team—to impress the new coach Honour Janza. And now that we know he isn’t making any changes, we slump back into our usual mediocre disposition.

Here we’re, our biggest problem being, we have too much resources—no one can convince me we are lacking in any department of the football field.
Our greatest stumbling block is not our opponents, but our mind set: because we’re former African champions, we think everyone will cringe before us and allow us to score—effortlessly.

    • And when that doesn’t happen, we get frustrated—these are two of the giant enemies of good sportsmanship; that’s how champions become ‘former’ this and that.

      Zambia:
Do not approach the remaining games with the ‘star’ tag in your mind set—it is a recipe for disaster.
Forget your past glory. You’re eagles, pluck your old feathers and be renewed. Otherwise, forget it.

  8. Remermber those that uesd Herve’ as a scapegoat.
I always said Herve’ was Not the peoblem, But Zambia having sub standard players especially Quality finishers. We dont have Ucar or Kalusha type of Players that in their day were – “Top Draw Players on the Continent”
Cannot compare our current team to Ghana or Ivory Coast.
Watch what Herve’ & Patrice do with Ivory Coast, as they have Quality to work with.
What say You Brother Jay Jay?

    • Not with Herve my bru. He isn’t that kind of miracle working coach. He is slow to launch his plans although in the end he will give you a consistent team

    • But the same HR started with a loss (1-0) yesterday!!!!
This boy, Janza kumbele, will not win us any match until he changes his name to Habwato Pamaka!!!

  9. Guy Scott expected to reap the ‘feel good’ factor had Zambia won. He would have appropriated the feel good factor to promote his and PF’s political fortunes. And Sata chose to come out today not by accident- the day was carefully chosen as the nation’s attention would have been focused on football. A win would have eclipsed Sata’s coming out even more. Reality can be so cruel. The negative mood from that game will present in a disillusioned citizenry, who will irrationaly blame FAZ,( for appointing Janza) who were seen with Guy Scott and Kambwili , and by extension Sata. A win would have had the exact opposite effect. That is how the mind works. A win helps a gvt, a loss hurts a gvt.

  10. At u even burn fuel going 2 ndola, only 2 come back in shock.

Ba Zambia a team never 2 entrust, otherwise u will die with heart attack.

    • The journey back from Ndola can be long, very long. Pls remember not to drink and drive. Things are bad enough as they are.

    • Only the gullible and the kalu bootlickers will suffer those setbacks…we all know Zambias underlying problem but we choose to ignore them even when the PE tutor was around we ignored.
      Wake up!!

  11. I spent so much money CALLING friends from Zambia about the game because here in the diaspora they Dont show the qualifiers for AFRICA CUP only to be told pa last its a draw. How can i claim my money FOR CALLING BACK… BLOGGERS ADVISE

  12. Zambians we easily give up because we believe on one side of the coin.A coin has two sides so expect either.Lets suport our coach, the team and share new ideas for the way forward.Don’t make failures laugh at us.Viva Zambia…..

  13. Welcome to the new era of football. It all started as early as 2012 when we read shocking headlines about the so called small and big teams. Egypt and Cameroon failing to qualify for two Africa cup editions, Zambia winning the Africa cup against all odds, Ivory coast crushing out again in 2013 to Nigeria, ghana eliminated in 2012 and 2013 at the semis and losing twice to Mali for the 3rd and 4th place, Cape verde’s rise and their incredible run during the 2014 world cup qualifying round, Costa rica at the world cup or what happened to Brazil, Spain and Italy at the world cup. The list of casualties is long .. of course a win was expected but Zambia always walks on thin ice. Anything can happen with them..we are not such a great side. So just pick yourselves up and move on to wednesday.

  14. There you go Zambia with your song:

    We need an expertriate coach
    We need an expertriate coach
    We need an expertriate coach

    They played well x 2

    We need a local coach
    We need a local coach
    We need a local coach

  15. Janza is a Tonga. What a coach!!! No tactics at all.ooops Zambians should fire this untrained coach before it’s too late.kulu will be also fired if he keeps his friend Janza

  16. @vilifier
I’ve no problem with a tribe.I was just answering a comment from @soccer fan .Let us be united as one nation.you won’t eat a tribe.

  17. Every one in zambia should stop being in denial and accept that you have all been fixed by Kalusha. Here are the facts, Renard or Renerd what ever you want to call him was not every good coach, he lived on the hard work of the previous coach who had left prior to the 2012 AFCON. This renard had brought along his own assistant and no one questioned him. When Renard left his fellow Frenchman who took over had never in his life coached a football team, yet Kalusha impossed him on the team and everyone was praising Kalusha. Equally, the second in command to the french man had also not coached a serious team in his life at the instense of Kalusha is now a coach without any credentials. The team is being coached by a third rated coach and everyone expects them to win. What a joke.

  18. Kalusha himself is NOT JUST a failed coach but also a failed adminstrator, you cant serious expect him to recruit a decent coach. Fire the chap and reclaim your soccer.

  19. That team lacked tact & performance was below par. Its like they were playing for a draw. Am very disappointed with the way they played. If we are going to oplay away to Cape Verde like that we are coming back with a loss. The players need to pull up their socks & die a little for mother Zambia as Dennis Liwewe used to say.
